Layton, Reimu, Quote, Dovahkiin all come to mind as possible candidates, though I'm a bit iffier on the Indies (especially Reimu) if it has to be a TGA announcement.

Its very hard to say, but if I were to give a guess, perhaps Kingdom Heart's Sora comes to mind. Either ways, I really hope that Fighter #5 will be something special and surprising if they are intending to reveal the character at the TGA's.

Also assuming it's none of the companies that were explicitly shot down (NIS, Falcom, Ubisoft) either, or someone shot down by PR like Travis Touchdown or Master Chief:
- Arc System Works character. Maybe someone from UNIST for a really dark horse pick
- Dovahkiin or Vault Boy. Hey, they only said Doomguy wasn't FP5, those two are fair game
- Arle Nadja, assuming they're not counting Atlus as Sega and as such aren't technically repeating companies on this technicality
- Neku if they DO want to repeat companies. We already know Geno ain't FP5
- and of course, Nintendo themselves. Akira Howard? Byleth? Elma??? (yes I know Elma's a Spirit but just watch as she's the first Spirit promotion)

What evidence is there to suggest that Elma could potentially be among the first spirit upgrades (assuming they even happen for post-pass)? I'm still of the mindset that Xenoblade Chronicles X was simply robbed with how little content it received in Ultimate, but I'd love to hear any reasons pointing towards her inclusion in the future.

As for me my vote would probably go to Dovahkiin. I think The Elder Scrolls is on equal standings with Doom in regards to who would be the first Bethesda rep, and if Doom is out of the equation then Dovahkiin has a decent chance of being the next fighter.

Why would Bethesda as a whole be out? Cacodemons have never appeared in Skyrim or any other Bethesda game as a cameo, they only appeared in the Doom games. Fighter 5 not being related to the Cacomallow mii hats does not mean Bethesda as a whole is out, it just means Doom is out.

True, but it's not like there aren't other spirits missing from World of Light and maybe they just neglected to list XCX in the code for some reason. The music is a very glaring omission, though, but I wonder if that's due to difficulty licensing tracks from Sawano and maybe they figured it was more trouble than it was worth.

I can't say that I'm convinced that she would be chosen over KOS-MOS or Rex as a Xeno rep, but I guess this is still something to think about.

Well they're both owned by Bethesda so if Fighter 5 is not related to the Cacodemon hat at all then it means that Bethesda has no involvement with Fighter 5. That's what I think anyway.

Alright, it’s finally finished! It’s time to show off my roster predictions! Based on facts, leaks, rumors and common sense.

Fighter Pass:

Spoiler: Phoenix Wright

Phoenix hands down has the best shot out of any Capcom character, especially in the fighter pass considering Dante got deconfirmed, he has virtually no competition, he has a ton of potential for a unique and difficult to come up with moveset, which sakurai loves the most, and Ace Attorney is ICONIC, which is also very important for all 3rd parties, and if people think he can’t get in because Sakurai wouldn’t want to double dip on Capcom, Ken is an echo so I don’t think it would count

Fighter Pass 2

Spoiler: Geno

Geno has so much going for him it’s insane, his longevity in insider circles, the 2-Song copyright which just so happens to be the amount of songs each Square game can get, the abundance of SupermarioRPG references everywhere, the Geno/Mallow poll which Geno won, his appearances and wins in so many polls, the absence of his costume, and the possibility of a Mallow mii costume that was never disproven(Also people who work with mods stated that making the mii costume wasn’t the hard part, but the textures on it are extremely difficult)
Geno has so much going for him this time that a start for Season 2 makes the most sense for him

Spoiler: Nightmare

We are most likely getting a Bandai character, and sense Lloyd’s out of the picture, Nightmare makes the next best sense.
He’s different from all other 3rd parties, Soulcalibur loves crossovers, and idk I just feel it’s gonna be Nightmare

The Composer for doom mentioned he was working on a new project a while back, and the timeline could fit with smash bros, also, the interview shows Bethesda might be getting in smash.
The Cacodemon leak genuinely seems real to me, and I highly doubt Nintendo would go to Bethesda, and have their only representation be a Cacodemon mii costume, if they were only getting one mii, it would probably be Doomslayer himself or Dovahkin.

He’s one of the biggest names in insider circles and an NES icon, they may have gotten the timing wrong but they also did with Hero and he got in anyway so the fact that insiders got that wrong isn’t ending his chances

if any 3rd party company should get 4 Unique characters, it’s Capcom, and Dante is just the perfect option.
He has games on switch now so his voice actor should be open for this now, DMC in smash just makes a lot of sense

Steve just makes so much sense guys, while yes Minecraft could be turned into spirits, Minecraft is THE BIGGEST GAME EVER, and Sakurai has stated how much he likes Minecraft and it’s creativity, which he would probably want to represent in a moveset.

Spoiler: Isaac(Golden Sun)

In each pass, their is always one big smash requested character, 1 has banjo, and 2 Has Geno, this one is gonna have Isaac. He’s the next big never ever after the core four are finally complete, Sakurai knows how much people want Isaac as a playable character and I think he would deliver

3 Houses hasn’t had any post-Game spirits yet, which is definitely odd, 3 Houses warrants a playable character in my opinion anyway and I don’t think people would have a problem with Edelgard, especially after a year of the game being out and it being known as one of the best Fire Emblem games. Also, I feel Edelgard would be chosen over Byleth as Edelgard seems to be a favorite with fans since the beginning, and an Axe in smash would be interesting .

That's right, because a Skyrim or Fallout character don't have to come with a Cacodemon Mii costume.
