Oops, I'm very sorry if this is late. Just as I was about to post it last night, my internet and phone connections went down for a few hours.

@ChaosKid: Sakurai stated that he recognized that most of Sonic's popularity and requests came out of the West. Had he not looked towards the West, Sonic may not have gotten in Smash 4. He also recognized that Pit was highly requested in both Japan and in the West and noticed he was the only retro rep that accomplished such a feet. Also, Sakurai did state that he does look towards it for popularity on newcomers (---, could you give me the link for it? Thanks).

Gonna need a source on that one, since it's been confirmed that Sonic was #1.

Hopefully this will work as a source, if not I think I have a few more.

I agree. Marth, Ike, and Roy are all fun to play with and hopefully, Krom gets an unique move set that's just as good as them.

I wonder if anything clicked in Sakurai after being asked about Ridley. It seems before this interview he certainly liked Ridley with him appearing in all 3 Smashes so far. But I wonder if after this he really thought about it, considering his popularity.

I assume he never gave Ridley any real thought about being playable for all the same reasons the naysayers were preaching over the years. Maybe after that he saw the light.

God I want Ridley so bad.

Heard rumors about MK10, if anyone actually cares. Game is supposedly going to be announced soon. Appearently it's going to be much more competitive in it's gameplay. The way it was put was "MK9 was a large public debugging for MK10".

I wish Brawl was like that for SSB4. But I think we have MUCH more to worry about than ****ty gameplay this time around.

I'm meh on Ridley. Definitely deserves to be in and probably one of the best choices for newcomers, but I wouldn't care if he missed again.

The one thing Sakurai definitely needs to scale back on is the absurd amount of things to collect. Sakurai has done this for every one of his big budget projects starting with Melee. For Melee it was manageable (aside from the Diskun trophy), but starting with Air Ride it became absurd. Brawl was an absolute chore getting everything, and with Uprising its even more inane.

I could care less about Smash Bros. being competitive, however, he needs to realize that he needs to scale back on the collect-a-thon aspect to his games. Its now becoming a bad joke in regards to his design philosophy.

@Chrono: Having a bunch of things to collect is a simple (maybe Shallow?) way of extending replay value, so I guess if you yourself are too WEAK to have collected everything by now, then I guess that proves the point. IN OTHER WORDS YOU HAVEN'T REPLAYED IT ENOUGH, WEAKLING.

That's very true, SSBF.

A lot of stuff was pointless. The repeats of Stickers.(Did we really need more than one Metal Sonic, for instance?) Even worse was stickers that give the same amount but were physically larger.

Then there's the Masterpieces. They are not bad, but not giving us Earthbound and/or Fire Emblem 3(well, FE3 is somewhat justified, as that requires a translation team. Earthbound isn't.)

Some Trophies were pointless. But the last one... was the songs that are of a different language. Was that NEEDED? Atleast put in, you know, OTHER songs than freakin' remixes...

I love replayability, though gotta admit Uprising went pretty huge in that. The clearing of the game was a chore itself already so trying to do all the chapters in 9.0...
