I am not at all a Geno fanboy, haven't even played SMRPG... but I do think he would be a cool character (aesthetically).

And yeah, indeed no source... but it's still an interesting rumour... but it's almost literally implying Geno for Smash, as if some Geno fanboy came with this rumour, and tried to make it sound mysterious but failed.

Anyway, VERY interesting rumor. Thanks so much for sharing. Now WOULD be the time that Sakurai would be trying to get the rights for third party characters, and if this tidbit is true, then it heavily implies Geno. While I am still very skeptical, if Geno does make it I am going to laugh so ****ing hard.

Like someone asked earlier, who IS desired now? I still stand that there isn't much hype to blow up many characters right now. Ridley was as you say very popular back in the Brawl days, and even now he is among the top, despite not having the backing he did back then.

Because the first 7 Mega Man (classic) games are largely associated with them being on Nintendo consoles. I also think most, if not all of the first 7 Mega Man (classic) games were exclusive to Nintendo consoles until the 6th Generation of Gaming onward.

Err...last I checked, Xenoblade and Xenosaga aren't related, it's just that the name for Xenoblade was to be an homage to the Xenosaga series.

And last I checked also, Namco still owns the Xenosaga series. Why else would KOS-MOS be in a Capcom/Sega/Namco crossover?

So it could be Dragon Quest, except just about every monster and boss are playable now via DQ Monsters.

So that leaves one of the first heroes.

I just looked up the Wikipedia article on the series and who owns it. I checked the source. The source looked trustworthy. However, it does not state "who owns what." All it mentions is that the studio is a Nintendo 1st Party. That, of course, means that Shulk and Xeonblade Chronicles is a 1st Party Nintendo entity.

I honestly can't say for certain on anything from Final Fantasy, especially with the aforementioned Dissidia. Geno definitely qualifies as a Poison type character though.

Geno's appearance was just a cameo. He hasn't appeared in a game with a major role since SMRPG. It's kind of like Arthur appearing in Namco X Capcom and his next appearance wasn't until MvC3.

As for why now? Well, why not now? You could also ask why should Saria return in another Zelda game after not showing up since OoT?
