Would make sense for them to cut both, but I don't think that's necessary so. It'll depend on if Sega and / or Konami want, and if they'll come up with a satisfying compromise with Nintendo / Sakurai on regards of money / legal issues to make it work again.

So if either Sega or Konami bails out, we would be left with just one less character.

I don't think it is as though Sakurai goes out of his way to do this.
I think it was merely a coincidence too. I just found it amusing.

18. ChronoBound 1,680 ... If you took a time machine to see the average Nintendo gamer from 1995, they would like the same things Chrono likes!
That's funny considering there are actually no newcomers outside of Mewtwo and Roy that I am interested in seeing that debuted after 1995.

The only character I don't won't to see is Puff. But that's just my personal opinion.

Why so much hate for jiggly?if she wasn't super weak,no one would want her cut,see what balance can do?

She was a character I never liked ever since I first unlocked her in Melee. She was ridiculously light and floaty, half of her specials weren't even useful AT ALL. Don't even get me started on Sleep, that **** just pissed me off.

Also Seph, she's buttcheeks in Brawl. Which makes me happy! :awesome:

Ha ha buttcheeks. Also I used to think rest was useless until I found out it was useful and actually did something. Its hard to combo into though, at least for me it is.

Jiggs is the ultimate troll in Smash, but she really needs a DIFFERENT ****ING FINAL SMASH

Puff Up in Brawl was so lame

:phone:
Captain Falcon is a bigger troll, Jigglypuff was a reasonable addition to 64. Much like how Sheik was a reasonable addition to Melee.

If Jigglypuff would have had an reasonable replacement ready in the Pokémon series with popularity just as high or similar to what Jiggz had I'd support that Pokémon replacing the Puff as well. Maybe...

Which characters might be cut during the transition from Brawl to the next series?

Well, I suspect that both guests (Snake and Sonic) will not be making a second appearance. Sakurai said he thinks one to two guest characters are appropriate. By eliminating the old guests, the roster is open to fresh faces.

I think Lucario might be cut. He was the face of a new series. Sakurai may want to spend more resources on a pokemon to represent the latest game in the franchise. It seems to me that Pikachu (veteran), Jigglypuff (veteran), Pokemon Trainer (key element in the Pokemon games) are going to stay. If time constraints are a problem, I can see Lucario as one of the easier choices to let go.

Ness may be cut (only because Sakurai was considering cutting him before). Lucas would absorb some of his moves. Sakurai does potentially Sakurai-created/influenced two characters he can introduce in the next Smash. A character from Uprising and a revamped retro character (similar to Pit) that he could branch off into a re-emerging franchise.

However, I think out of the characters I listed, that Sonic and Snake have the best chances of leaving and the other two may still stay.

You sho? Oh wait, it was that PsychoIncarnate dude who wanted Viridi, not you lol my bad :embarrass:

Ness might have been considered for cutting in Melee, but in the end, when Lucas, the character who was supposed to be replace Ness in the first place, made it in Brawl, Ness ended up making it in as well. So, couple that with the fact he's a member of the original 12... yeah, he's not gonna cut, end of story

@bowserlick: it's weird - there are characters in brawl that i don't give half a damn about (jiggz and diddy come to mind), but it somehow wouldn't seem right without them. i guess even more than mewtwo coming back, the biggest thing is that i simply don't want anyone else cut.

@metal and falchion: i'd rather see
Hades, Phosphora, or Pyrron
playable than Viridi, or either of the popular picks. don't get me wrong - the interaction between pit, palutena, and medusa is hysterical (i particularly like how palutena flat-out insults pit at least once per level), but i can't imagine either one as a smash brother - or would it be bash sister?

@iblis: magnus would be ok i guess.

This.

I think Lucas could rather be cut actually, and have it the other way around: Ness absorbing some of Lucas's moves (so far I think of him having Lucas's Up Smash, Neutral Air, Down B functioning and F Tilt). And with this have Mother represented with just Ness alone.

There are actually many characters that COULD be cut really

What you'd cut Diddy you mad son??
Diddy easily was the most deserving addition to Smash ever. Ever since the original he was wanted. He'd be better to have than Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff and Ness. Especially since N64 had Diddy Kong Racing, DK64, and the SNES DKC triology was still recent.

no, i wouldn't cut diddy now that he's here (that's what i meant by "don't like but wouldn't seem right without them"), but personally i wouldn't have added him in the first place. the donkey kong series just doesn't appeal to me. i would've put ridley, or kept mewtwo, before adding diddy. but this is just my opinion, i know the series is popular and i respect that. i don't begrudge him his spot at all. all i was saying is that I myself don't care for him.

diddy: i was going to give you a hard time for being biased, but in this case i actually think you might have a point. DK and mario are connected pretty strongly, they shared their debut and everything.

falchion: i'll cut you. clearly waluigi takes priority over geno, if only because tingle didn't exist yet.

Seeing as originally, Smash didn't even feature Nintendo characters, and Captain Falcon's moves in 64 where mostly used from the old project, it might actually be Captain Falcon who was most deserving in Smash.

Who would've ever thought that? :falcon:

If I was biased, I would've said DK was in fact more deserving than Mario. But really, no other deserves being no.2. Link I'd vote for 3, then Kirby as 4 being Sakurai's creation, then comes Pika, for being second party basically. Otherwise I'd rank him higher than Link.

If Captain keeps his terrible position at the Tier List in SSB4 I accept him :troll:

"Who is most deserving" is a hard question to answer. And many people answered the question in a unique way with a different set of qualifications.

One way of answering this question, is imaging the Original Smash without one of the characters. Which character's absence would be most obvious.

For me, the absence of Mario or Link would absolutely make the game seem incomplete.
