No, they'd just appear on the stage randomly, walking around, and you could pick them up and throw them at opponents. If they make contact, then they'll "stick" to the opponent, scratching up their face making all kinds of noises. If the victim runs past fellow players, there's a chance the cat will transfer over to their face.

Or if you attack the cat while it's DOCILE, it'll go ahead and attack you.

This is cute and awesome in the same way! I am all for it! Of coarse the damage shouldnt be much, like, 1% per attack but still. Awesome idea Sir!

Did you see the pig brawl hack a while ago? Pretty much every projectile was changed into toon link's pigs- bombs, mortars, turnips, even snake's c4. You could probably convince some hackers to do the same with a nintencat.

Speaking of which, what if there were character damage involved? Like, when the cat is done scratching one of the players, will it actually show the scratches on their face? The scratches would be shown in like a cartoony manner. It would be cool if that happened, IMO

Seems Sakurai can't win.

Sakurai added the clones in Melee because he felt people would ***** about there not being that many characters (20, not including Sheik, were planned. We don't know who the 20th was), and people still ***** because there are characters with similar moves, even though other games do the same damn thing.

You know what I think? People are spoiled.

Something I just realized, the most wanted characters after Melee and Brawl unveil's (Ganondorf and Sonic) were not originally planned for their respective games.

As for the probable 20th Melee character if Sakurai did not go with six clones, I am guessing it would have been King Dedede and not Ganondorf. The reason I believe this is:
1. King Dedede was a planned character for Smash 64 (along with Bowser and Mewtwo). I think Dedede was put last as a priority for Melee due to his own humbleness regarding Kirby (he even admitted to this during Brawl as to why there no Kirby newcomers in Melee).
2. Sakurai mentioned on Ganondorf's update that if it were not for the fact that Ganondorf has the same body shape as Captain Falcon, he would not even have been in Melee.

As to what I was saying earlier:

Ganondorf: Most wanted character for Melee after Melee was announced. Only got in when Sakurai thought Melee's roster was too small and went with the six clone plan.

Sonic: Most wanted character for Brawl after Brawl was announced. Was one of the last two characters added to the game.

I don't think there any characters out there that are as notable as Ganondorf or Sonic that people want for Smash Bros., so I don't think we will see this again for Smash 4.

I could UNDERSTAND if Sonic and Snake get cut (since they're third party and all, even if I want them both to come back as much as everyone else), but NO ONE on the Nintendo side needs to be cut, period

I don't think it is as though Sakurai goes out of his way to do this, but rather I believe he has a different set of priorities than us fans do. Just because you top the charts does not mean you are inevitable. There are no "locks" with Super Smash Bros. This is why I do not believe Ridley is inevitable, in fact I believe he is a second tier character.
