Ryu and Ken were exactly the same in the first Street Fighter, were they not?
Speaking of Ryu, I feel that Ryu would make a nice guest. Mario and Ryu have similar moves in some respects (rising punch, fireball) which invokes the Ken/Ryu rivalry that fans enjoyed over the years.
Been thinking about what Donkey Kong stages I would like to see in Smash 4 lately...
Gangplank Galleon - based on the first three worlds from Donkey Kong Country 2. It is a Temple-sized ship complete with masts, main deck, and cargo hold. The cargo hold is always flooded. The stage has three phases: Normal, Hot, and Flooded. Normal is based on Gangplank Galleon. No special hazards here. Hot is based on Crocodile Cauldron, or more specifically Lava Lagoon. The water turns hot like the lava/acid levels from Metroid stages. Flooded is based on Krem Quay, or more specifically Rattle Battle and Slime Climb. The water level raises so high that the cargo hold is inaccessible and part of the main deck is flooded. The main hazard is the Snapjaw that swims in the water. This fish is like Klaptrap from Melee's Kongo Jungle. The reason the stage changes phases is because the ship is sailing in and out of Crocodile Cauldron and Krem Quay.
Normal Phase
Hot Phase
Flooded Phase
Krazy Kremland - based on the fourth world from Donkey Kong Country 2, or more specifially Target Terror and Rickety Race. It is an amusement park where we battle on the boardwalks that lay on the tracks. We cannot walk on the tracks because they aren't really platforms, they are just for decoration. The main hazard is the occasional skull-shaped roller coaster rides that zoom across the main boardwalk and the tracks, much like the cars from Melee's Onett.
I would like Ryu and Megaman. I am not sure why Capcom cannot have two reps.
Megaman over Ryu though, I agree.
I think Sakurai will have at least two guest characters and no more than three. I think guest characters should not return in sequels (maybe DLC). This allows more spots for new guests (otherwise the Nintendo roster will be clogged as the series progresses with non-Nintendo characters).
Hoping for possibly Geno as a guest (but that ship might have sailed).

Let's save the gimmicks from Castle Crush and Bramble Blast for other game series. Ooohh!!! Let's use Piranha Grove from Yoshi's Story... it's full of brambles.
Seriously, Piranha Grove is one of the few stages from Yoshi's Story I still remember and I haven't played the game since around 2000. I think it will be a nice change from the same old "Yoshi's Island" stages we have been getting in all three Smash games. As for Castle Crush, I haven't thought of a similar location from another game series yet...

Ryu is boring compared to the rest of the cast. However, he is a steady fighter that grounds the game which, in turn, allows the other characters to be quirky.
I prefer Ryu over Little Mac, who seems excessively boring. Ryu's honed, disciplined style is not represented that well in Smash (maybe Lucario does share these aspects).
Ryu is the face of Street Fighter (although Chun Li is well known).
Plus Ryu does share aspects with Mario, creating a rivalry dynamic.
Now about OLDman twin-sword Gannondorf. He was a great boss and I do appreciated how Gannondorf matured into an aged warrior that might enjoy a muffin a little more than power-driven schemes.
But I think Ghirahim is a more recent twin-sword villain that could take the slot of highly-skilled swordsman villain.
If Sonic comes back in Smash 4, I hope Mushroom Hill Zone from Sonic & Knuckles is a stage. I really liked that place, the level design and the scenery. It also looked quite spectacular in Sonic Generations.

He's only boring because everyone else because everyone else is more interesting? I can buy that.
IMO, Little Mac is actually more likely to be interesting than Ryu as Little Mac's inherent design doesn't make him an all around character like Ryu (even though Ryu emphasizes zoning). Lucario in Project M, since his moves are based on Chinese Kempo, do reflect that disciplined style. I honestly can't think of too many characters that can project that other than Lucario and maybe Marth.

I think he'd enjoy green tea AND a muffin more. And while Debbie and Ganondorf use twin swords, Ganondorf isn't known for projectiles beyond the one in OOT. Ghirahim's little daggers, I think, would be a more suitable weapon since he's sadistic as all Hell.
Twin-Sword Ganondorf just gives off a sense of refinement, calculation, and unpredictability in an exciting fashion.
And on Falco, does anyone think those lasers of his need a nerf or something?

In Brawl, Meta Knight and Captain Falcon have texture parts, which were never used; the damaged mask and helmet. It would be interesting if the following does happen...
1: If Meta Knight takes a combined total of 300% damage, his mask will become damaged. This will not affect his performance.
2: If Captain Falcon takes a combined total of 300% damage, his helmet will become damaged. This will not affect his performance.

Amazon Japan has posted imaghes of covers of two cases coming to Japan featuring Black Kyurem & White Kyurem. These cases confirm that the types retain Kyurem's Dragon/Ice type despite the massive changes. It also confirms the height and weight. Black Kyurem stands at 3.3m and 325kg while White Kyurem stands at 3.6m and 325kg.
Incidentally, Famitsu is hinting about a new Pokémon being revealed next week. Japan often states new forms to be new Pokémon so this could be the reveal in Smash tomorrow
I wonder if ChronoBound will cry when he finally gets to play as Ridley. He has waited so long to see his dream come true. I'm just imagining it. He'll unlock Ridley, ready to play as him. But he can't play as him just yet, as he can't help his tears from falling onto his controller.
I know this is from pages back, but this is going to be me right here.
Even though I was a bit afraid to play metroid when I was younger, Ridley's design always fascinated me! I remember when Sakurai introduced Norfair(I think, what ever new lava stage in brawl) and he said something along the lines of "where is Ridley, hmmm?" Got my hopes way too high!
Watching him plow through everything as a boss was awesome! Looking forward to him possibly being playable. I'm glad the goons at IGN at least brought up Ridley as a possibility even though it appeared Sakurai had not even considered it. At least we know that thought has crossed his mind.
It's Meloetta, silly cats. She is/was the most recent short Pokemon. Has that stupid pony been revealed? I see Genesect as being THE LAST Pokemon revealed.
Unmasked Meta Knight looks like a lovechild of Kirby and Lololo IMO.
Lololo and Lalala would be an interesting duo, but they would most likley be an AT or not in the game at all. Mostly because they originated from the Adventures of Lolo, which didn't involve Sakurai unlike their cameos in the Kirby series.
I am really surprised Meloetta has gotten so little attention by Smash Bros. and Pokemon fans. I was thinking when I first saw it that it was going to become the next Gardevoir. I don't think Meloetta has officially been unveiled, so it may be the next one to be unveiled considering that the Pikachu short for the 2012 Pokemon movie will center around Meloetta.
In regards to Black/White 2, I am curious whether that game will introduce any new legendaries. The game will be be released in June in Japan, so it will be little while after a potential Smash 4 unveil.
Where has Meloetta been officially unveiled? I think its known that Meloetta will be the main Pokemon for the 2012 Pokemon movie Pikachu short, but was it given an official unveil in the same manner as Keldeo so far?
