At this point, I am declaring that if we do get a Kid Icarus newcomer, it will definitely be Palutena. However, I really can't get a good assessment about her until Uprising is released (and we know absolutely everything about the story) and the release of the OVAs. If Uprising sells very well, I am willing to declare Palutena a shoe-in.

Also, the bit about the "brutal sex scene" was a lie made up by that NeoGAF poster.

I wouldn't say we have a shoe-in for any Kid Icarus newcomers either. I agree it's pretty likely we could get Palutena. But guaranteed, nah.

Only thing I'd say is guaranteed is two-time veterans and two Link's, and that's it.(plus obviously the original 12) I don't want to say anything else is for sure, though.

No it goes beyond that.

Medusa basically gets taken care of half-way through Uprising or 2/3. The real villain so far as we know was Hades, who resurrected Medusa to distract Palutena and Pit while he caused chaos on earth to gather souls of mankind. It basically escalates to the point where another goddess, Viridi, also wants to kill off mankind. Aliens also decide to join in the fun and take over the Earth. Pure Sakurai craziness. The point is that Medusa is not even a Zant, she was simply one of many antagonists for Uprising.

Also, Ridley was the final boss of Zero Mission.

Correction: Mecha Ridley was the final boss. That's as much Ridley as a Doombot is Dr. Doom.

I think, in terms of chances, I see Palutena being way more likely than Medusa. Aside from the surrounding spoilers, it's very clear that Sakurai has taken a liking to Palutena since he breathed so much life into Palutena. I seriously think she'll get the girl slot in out of the first four newcomers announced, assuming Sm4sh follows the "pattern" from the last two games.

Krystal and Toad will be the Juri and Hakan of Sm4sh.

That doesn't mean though that Medusa's out of the game though. She's definitely the kind of character to surprise people with as an unlockable.

At this point, the only reason I can think of that Sakurai wouldn't put in a KI newcomer would be that he doesn't like to play favorites.

But it has recently occured to me, that maybe Sakurai put in two Kirby newcomers in Brawl was because he finally separated himself from Nintendo (and his creations). If I remember correctly, he had to be asked to work on both Brawl and Uprising by Nintendo. He did also try to put Dedede in 64, so maybe favorites is over played a bit, especially since we're at the bottom of the character pool.

Jill is a master of explosives. At worst, she'd be a Snake clone. But she uses Rocket Launchers, can easily use laser guns(to change it around a bit), oh, and she can summon Zombies too. You can thank Marvel VS Capcom 2 for that.

That's easy. Pit, Palutena, and Medusa as playable characters. Eggplant Wizard as Assist Trophy. Underworld as a new stage along with Skyworld as a past stage. Magnus and everyone are regular trophies.
