New Smash Bros for WiiU

To be honest, nearly every DLC-using company w***es it out. I can think of only a few companies that haven't used it to rip off their fans/customers for something that isn't that big. The horse armor that costs about $6 in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion instantly comes to mind. That DLC was funny, because there is a horse that can't die in the game!

Flash memory still, though you can use external hard drives for the Wii U

Speaking of that, do you know offhand how much flash memory is going to be included with the Wii U?

I mean, I'm cool with not having to plop down an extra wad of cash for an HDD, but I do want enough flash memory to hold a decent library of downloadable stuffs.

And that's awesome that it'll support external hard drives. My 2 TB Seagate is gonna fill up faaaaaaast.

Valve comes right off the head. There's all kinds of free DLC and updates for all their games. 2K also from the games I have don't do that crap. The few EA games I own have quality paid DLC, and the company that makes LittleBigPlanet DLC policy ain't too shabby, either.

Also, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft's system for buying games from past consoles are (mostly) pretty fair price-wise, too.

I don't think some of their DLC map packages maps were that great, but yeah, Bungie's prices for DLC wasn't bad at all. It was pretty fair all things considered.

Because people have this imaginary idea that there are two to three developers chained to a desk whose sole purpose in life is to constantly pump out extra characters and trinkets for their favorite game. In addition, all of this stuff is just supposed to magically be added into the game for a buck.

"True" DLC is a farce. Just spend the development time to make a complete game.

Okay, here is what I gathered. It was a blog entry asking people what new characters they would like to see in Smash 4. It got HUNDREDS of replies, though during the second half of the comments it was mostly five guys yelling at each other about some anime.

Anyway, here is what I found:
- Mewtwo and Roy are BY FAR the most requested characters for Smash 4. There are no other characters that come close to them in the amount of requests in the comments.
- The true newcomers with the most requests are Waluigi and Starfy.
- For Mario characters its Waluigi>Geno=Dr. Mario>Bowser Jr.=Toad
- For Donkey Kong its Dixie Kong > K. Rool
- Ridley, Little Mac, Takamaru, Samurai Goroh, Krystal, Isaac, Saki, Lip, Sukapon got barely any requests (2 or 3)
- Black Shadow is easily the favorite for a F-Zero newcomer.
- Gooey (the second playable character from Dream Land 3) has quite a bit of support in the comments for some reason. The next most supported Kirby character is Galactica Knight.
- Kumatora is the most requested female character outside of Dixie Kong. She is the only Mother character to get a decent amount of requests.
- For Fire Emblem, the only character to receive a notable amount of requests was Roy (of which he probably had the most requests of any character).
- For Pokemon, Mewtwo left every character in the dust (except Roy). However, there were quite a few Pokemon that received a lot of requests. Zoroark received many requests. However, both Victini and Black/White Trainer also received quite a few requests.
- Basically no requests for Zelda characters.
- Barely any requests for Kid Icarus characters (I think Palutena came up three times though).
- Mega Man is the most wanted third-party character.
- Ryu and Leon from Resident Evil also have quite a bit of support.
- For Square-Enix characters, the characters that got the most support were Geno, Cloud, Terry (Dragon Quest), and Sora
- No other third-party characters outside of Capcom and Square-Enix were heavily requested.
- Lots of idiots suggesting anime characters. Doraemon, Goku, Luffy, Naruto, Ichigo were what I saw come up the most.

I'm surprised and elated that Starfy is so high on that list.

It would make sense considering he was the original DWM star. Still, on his own he is an excellent swordfighter. I'd love to see his gameplay mixed between summoning and swordfighting.

Woaw, woaw, woaw, Roy topping Mewtwo=??? That is madness. As big of a Roy supporter as I am, as much as I love Fire Emblem 6, as much as I love playing him as Melee, and as much potential as he has, I wouldn't go that far.

Right now, I'm thinking Starfy(aside from Roy and Mewtwo, of course) is the smartest thing on there as far as I'm concerned.

I mean, those folks have had 4 more Starfy games than we have. They know him a lot better than we do.

Thing is is even though it was likely, as you put it, the ramblings of idiots it is still something. If there is anything we can probably draw from these findings it is probably this. Mewtwo and Roy are pretty much the frontrunners, globally, as far as requests go.

Thanks for the info and it really does provide insight; however, a lot of these choices just seem quite odd to me as well (I guess Japan does have its own similarities to us). Now I really wonder how the SSB4 roster is going to shape up. Hopefully, Sakurai makes the correct choices.

Rool and Dixie Kong being popularly requested, and Black Shadow having much more support than Samurai Goroh.

Unfortunately, I have never seen much support for Toad in Smash Bros. in Japan outside of Sakurai's Japanese pre-Melee poll. From my time pre-Brawl and what I am observing now, the only Mario characters that come up for requests are Geno, Bowser Jr., Waluigi, and Dr. Mario.

Yeah, I think its just because I stumbled on Japanese GameFAQs that Waluigi had so much support. Elsewhere, I have not seen this happen (he only gets a few requests elsewhere). I definitely have confidence in Sakurai to not add Waluigi.
