There's one problem with that; despite the creativity and the balance of favoritism shown by going through with that method, would weight classes be floaty as if they were in vBrawl or would they be more realistic like in the past two installments before vBrawl?

EDIT: @LC-DDM No one would want that if Nintendo WI-FI is still limited.

Yeah, I agree Chrono, Fox, Falco and Wolf just represents the series perfectly

And actually, LC, I think someone here did suggest 6-player mode a while back

I'm actually surprised nobody has brought up the idea of having a 6-player game mode...
I've brought it up several times. It is something that could be either really cool or really bad. Seriously, imagine playing on Mushroom Kingdom II with 6 people.

I'm also unsure how it could work competitively. Regardless, it would be a fun option for casual players IMO... assuming it is executed properly. :)

I understand why it would be hard for an online 6 player mode... which is why it should be restricted to only 4 online, unless you had minigames similar to Mario Party for those. Think of it like a multiplayer Race to the Finish.

in my head, 6 player mode online = lagfest and lack of room....

6 players online doesn't equal lag with a good online system. Look at all the first person shooters. If Nintendo was as serious with their online for the Wii as Microsoft with the 360 or Sony with the PS3, we wouldn't have Brawl lag issues to begin with (at least not major ones).

@ Chrono
I agree. Fox, Falco, and Wolf fit perfectly. I think the Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Star Fox, and the MOTHER franchises are all showcased PERFECTLY in smash with their various playable characters. The only thing those series need now is better stage and/or assist trophy representation (maybe Zelda aside, although an assist trophy of a Zelda boss would be epic). Kirby I think could use another asisst trophy. I don't think Star Fox had an assist trophy, and so far, all the Star Fox stages have come from Star Fox 64 (Space Armada aside, which is a generic stage). MOTHER has gotten 2 okay stages from MOTHER 2 and 1 forgettable stage from MOTHER 3. Personally, I think we need better and more accurate stages from the franchise, as well as maybe a MOTHER 1 stage.

Well regarding the lack of room part... what is Nintendo going to do regarding the players in BB that idle and do absolutely nothing at all? They take up another player's space and are a viable target for racking points.

Regarding idle players, they have 30 seconds to move their controller. If they don't, they are rendered spectators, being replaced by a CPU OR their hitboxes are disabled.

Well, though a bit unrelated to "air-dodging" I guess it does have a lot to do with overall favoritism.

Thing is, I was never too happy with Melee's tank-like physics, nor Brawl's balloon like physics. 64 is to me the best at this. And I think it would be the perfect balance between those two.

We could still have melee-like fast falling. :p

Remember Zoness from Star Fox 64? I think that would make for a good Great Fox stage

Oh, and I loved this music in Melee

Also, new party game modes for the new Smash. Discuss nao.

I say King of the Hill (similar like Super Mario War's), and team Stamina (two players share one stamina counter in a team match OR the first one killed in a team with two stamina counters, makes the whole team lose).

Thanks for a broader explanation. I just had a hard time picturing Brawl air dodging with Melee-like weight classes, lol. :p

When you said King of the Hill... I thought you were responding to my post. :troll:

@ overlord That music was pretty neat. And I think sector z would make a nice past stage. I loved that one. The melee version has too many arwings.

Hm, considering that we are technically getting two Smash games for the Wii U and 3DS, perhaps there might be be a chance that the adventure modes might be split between versions. Somewhat like the Mario & Sonic titles we have been receiving lately.

I've been hearing that if the Smash 3DS version is more single player based, perhaps its adventure mode might be more like the SSE in Brawl. In that case, perhaps the Wii U version might contain an adventure mode that follows up with the one from Melee. I don't know how much people liked the SSE, but considering that the 3DS version is meant to train your characters, perhaps we can get a balance between the adventure modes. I personally like to see the adventure mode from Melee to return in some way.

Just imagine 3v3 teams... absolute mayhem.
Agreed. Allowing up to 6 players could also introduce new modes. Imagine this:

6 Players:
3 vs. 3
2 vs. 4
1 vs. 5
2 vs. 2 vs. 2
1 vs. 2 vs. 3
1 vs. 1 vs. 4
1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 3
1 vs. 1 vs. 2 vs. 2
1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 2
1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1

3 vs. 3 and 2 vs. 2 vs. 2 could definitely be competitive modes. The 6 way free for all would be MADNESS!

The other modes could be fun when playing with handicaps, a king of the hill-esk mode, and all kinds of stuff like that. Imagine 1 vs. 5 with the 1 having a huge handicap and the other characters having a low handicap. That would be MADNESS!!!

Now let's look at 5 player (which would come with up to 6 players):
2 vs. 3
1 vs. 4
1 vs. 2 vs. 2
1 vs. 1 vs. 3
1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 2
1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1
None of these could be competitive. Again, they would all be "fun" and casual battles. Still, they would be awesome!

@Sephiroth- MY MAN!!! *prompts for brofist*

I loved Sector Z, Peach's Castle and Saffron City. Oh, and anyone else think that we need a new sort of Metroid stage? All of the ones we've had save for Frigate Orpheon and Brinstar Depths have used lava in some way as a stage hazard. And most of the backgrounds are too similar, IMO. Laaaaaaame. Time for something new

You know, this song is really nostalgic. It is so... perfect. It takes me back to my childhood and all the good times I had then (specifically playing Star Fox 64), hahaha! I remember just watching the "amazing" 3D graphics. I was amazed by everything about the game. The humor, the adventure, the fun, the "new" rumble feature on the controller, the multiplayer. Everything about the game was amazing. The fact the series went down the drain the way it did... is just heartbreaking.

Man... I feel like playing the Star Fox 64 multiplayer on Mupen online against someone.

No, people would be pissed to find out that they need both versions to essentially play all characters, or worse that the exclusives become DLC. I myself am ticked that the 12 additional SFxTK characters (which include Alisa, Lei, Christie, and ELENA) are likely to be DLC meaning I gotta pay for them.

By making them exclusive, you would probably decrease sales. At least with Pokemon, you could get version exclusives over online trading.

@John
Krystal's appearance and the decline of the series are coincidental. Keep the bias going though. I don't care too much about it.
People were disappointed that Brawl did not have the option for DLC's. If there were options for DLC's after the game's release date, people would buy them. And I doubt it would hurt sales.

I do not think Krystal will get into Smash (although I was wrong about Wolf). I am not even sure how long the Star Fox franchise will continue. It had a series of bad games.

To be honest, I'm also a huge fan of Saffron City. Peach's castle is a neat one, too though I've had to many situations where I'd try to recover and the platform would scoot away.

Yeah, ever since Melee's Multi-Man Melee mode, I've always wanted 6 player action (heck, Brawl's Multi-Man Brawl can go up to 7 players at once.) Here's how I'd like it:

- Offline: P1-P4 are human controlled and P5-P6 are computer controlled
- Online: P1-P6 are human controlled
- This might mean we'll need 2 more team colors (yellow and purple?)

yeah, the DLC stigma is kinda stupid. the porpose of it is to extend the replay value of a game, and the only reason why it has gotten a bad rep is becuse most companies were giving out on-disc DLC. if they give it out in a similar way to the Pokemon games of MMPU, it'll be fine.

Now that Nintendo is getting into the world of DLC, let's just hope they know how to sort it out.

It's one thing to charge for ADDITIONAL content, made AFTER the game's release.

... It's another to blatantly charge for content purposely locked within the game.

I'm all down for additional maps and characters that for time restraints didn't get into the game.

Edit: Isn't downloading the latest version of the Wii.. (updating the firmware) kind of a DLC-ish of sorts?

^ Yeah, but like Sephiroth, they're not the kind of DLC most people associate the term with it (add-on content for a game)

Nintendo ain't no Capcom or Activision, I'm sure they'll know how to handle DLC

The Wii was capable of DLC, just not until like a little bit after Brawl was released. I think the 4th Guitar Hero game was the first game with "real" DLC.

Anyways, man this Star Fox 64 song reminds me of playing the game with my grandfather. I thought he would play that he would live forever and play that game with me forever, haha! Sadly, he died not long after the game's release (it sounds sad, but I think of it as great memories I will never let go of). Seriously, I friggen love Star Fox 64. I will hold that game on a pedestal forever, and it will always be a great and very memorable part of my childhood!!! :)

Nintendo did say that they won't make their customers pay for stuff that is already on the game. They see DLC as a way to keep the interest of a game alive

So I wasn't around here when the Nintendo Network was announced or confirmed to be true... what were the reactions here?

Do you think we'll get at least something close to the XBL or PSN? Better?

I want a lobby in SSB4. I'd also like to be able to play regularly, with opponent-searching constantly on, like in SSFIV.
