Pokemon? Just let the series get a boss.

IMO, that would be a great job for Giratina. It would rep Platinum, and the Distortion World would make for a Gravity Man/SMGalaxy style level.
Pokémon had that epic Rayquaza boss.

By the way, I got a FRESH IDEA! What if bosses.... could be summoned via Asisst Trophies or Assist Trophy-esk items=??? That could be pretty kewl... :troll: I'd be all over that!

Also, what if Pokéball Pokémon and Assist Trophy characters need to be able to hurt Pokéball Pokémon and Assist Trophy characters that your opponent(s) summoned=??? That could be awesome. Imgine this: "MY Meta Ridley will destroy your Saki's face!" Who totally wouldn't be down with that=??? It would be like a Pokémon/Scribblenauts battle... but in SMASH BROTHAASSS!!!

Edit: Why won't this "Sony Smash Bros." discussion die. It's from one blog, and the character lists seems unlikely (ie: a series' third or fourth best character getting in over the series main character), and the whole description of it just sounds too stale to be real. Sony doesn't do stale, they do ridiculous. Like Uncharted, which is ridiculously AWESOME!

It won't die because a Sony tied company announced it.

Hey, don't talk about the Penn State football coaching staff that way! :awesome:  :p  :troll: :088: :089:

I thought it was a blogger who revealed it. Anyways, what Sony-tied company announced it=???
Sakurai was pretty hardcore BACK IN THE DAY. I heard he was the one to think of Link's bomb recovery in 64. HARDCORE

Cleftchinchleftchincleftchincleftchin?
I never doubt Sakurai. In fact, I think everyone who doubts him has no idea what they are talking about.

However, I must admit I doubt the Brawl staff. Here are the companies that developed Brawl:
  • Game Arts: The primary developer of Brawl. They are a 3rd party company. They made the Grandia and Lunar series, and that recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game.
  • Monolith: A company that have made the Xenosaga series, including Xenoblade Chronicles recently. That's interesting. Only a part of Monolith's staff helped develop Brawl (full time). However, during the development of Brawl, they went from being nearly entirely owned by Namco Bandai to being a Nintendo 1st party company. The company was founded by many members of Square Soft (and had more members of Square Soft later join them) after they left the company after completing Chrono Cross.
  • Paon: A Nintendo first party company. They made the New Horizon series, as well as DK: King of Swing, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, and DK: Jungle Climber.
I think on these next two upcoming smash bros. games they will definitely do better. The newly hired staff will only help. However, I think the PAL staff members who helped make Smash 64 and Melee should also work on these two games, to make these games better, more content-filled (MROE CHARACTERS!), and maybe even a quicker release date. If Metal Gear Solid 4 can have a staff of 200 people for one game (or two if you consider Metal Gear Online that came with MGS4 its' own game), why shouldn't/couldn't Nintendo do that for Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS-??? These two games will sell much better than Metal Gear Solid 4. Smash Bros. is also Nintendo's biggest multiplayer series, EVER!!!

I think that now that sounds and looks legitimate. The previous material sounded fake, although I've never heard of "SuperBot Entertainment." And Title Fight is a terrible name.
Skull Kid's fanbase will generally be bigger, because the US is balls.

And then Toon Zelda / Tetra, is probably not happening. I mean, the Toon series is over for a while, and we know of like, three more Zelda games coming out in the future, PLUS SS.
Skull Kid's fan base (for smash) isn't as big as many think it is. A small group of people just hype their size out of proportion. I don't see a remake of Majora's Mask changing that.

I hardly consider 2 years without a game for the Toon Zelda sub-series as being "over." Tingle is about 3 times as "over" as that, given he's been gone for 6 years (Brawl was his last game). Majora's Mask has been "over" for over a decade. I do agree that we can throw Toon Tetra/Sheik out the window unless we see them in a future Zelda series game.

Yet, I still think Toon Zelda is the only potential Zelda newcomer with a legitimate chance to be playable in smash. She's been a main character om Zelda more recently than the other character with that claim (Vatti). Sakurai has already shown he likes her, given she was amongst the Forbidden Seven. I think Toon Zelda is a potential "sleeper" character.

Also, all those Skyward Sword plot "spoilers" I could see coming like the ending of a Disney movie (spoiler alert: THE GOOD GUY WINS, AND GETS THE POONTANG!)

Well fine, it's real now.

Let's compare shall we?

You want the best/most popular characters in gaming? SSB

You want HARCORE fighting games? Capcom Fighting series

No room for this title to bring anything that hasn't already been done. A total and utter rip off looking for a cash cow, that isn't going to COMPARE EVER to the immesity Smash is.

HEY GUIYS SLY FOX vs NATHAN DRAKE! YEEAAAA~

What up? Pikachu vs MARIO

^ LOL Shortie. You pretty much summed it up. Unless this Sony crossover fighting game is going to be a different direction for a crossover game that hasn't been covered or a totally ridiculous platformer (as in more of a platformer than Smash Bros) or party game with zany stuff that makes Smash Bros look as serious as Street Fighter, this game won't be anything new. Everything about "Title Fight," including even the NAME of the game sounds like that awful Cartoon Network fighting game, or that recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fighting game (but worse).
I don't think anyone's considered this but if there's a 3DS version of Street Fighter x Tekken, a Nintendo character could be in it as a guest, like how Cole from Infamous, a first-party character from Nintendo is in the PS Vita version as a guest. Dunno how that correlates to Smash, just a thought I had...
Mario would be HYPE, especially if we got a Capcom character who wears a lot of blue in smash brothahs!!! :awesome:

Captain Falcon would bring a lot of the core smash bros. fan base to be interested in said game though. Again, there is no bad pick... except Sheik. :troll:

Pichu would be my top pick for a Nintendo character in the game. Top tier material all the way.

So with Title Fight likely coming out in 2012, the Wii U in 2012 as well, and the fact that Mario Kart 7 was rushed to meet this Holiday season, is there a possibility that SSB 4 will release in 2012 too? Nintendo might want to compete with Title Fight and get SSB 4 out in time for the Wii U's release and next year's holiday season.

^ No. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS haven't even begun development, and won't until early 2012 when Sakurai is finished developing Kid Icarus: Uprising (which recently was pushed back until Winter of 2012). Brawl was in development for about 2 years and 10 months for a reference. Given that, one smash bros. game would take until at least 2014, or more likely 2015, even with a much bigger staff that we will have for this game (it looks like we will have one full company, maybe another, and part of two others along with a lot of "new hires"). Give we have two smash bros. games that will be in development, it is likely we won't get either game until 2014-2017 We are a long ways off both games. We may get one earlier than another, but again; the game hasn't even been started yet, aside from general ideas and concepts.

Kid Icarus is likely finished by now, and the hiring period for SSB 4 ended in October, so I doubt they just had all of those people sit around and do nothing while waiting for KI to finish. I think they have probably started development already.

Also, they are porting Brawl's engine and going from there which will save on time, and let's not forget that Melee had a very short development cycle.

Tired of hearing Nintendo rush things...

LOL, @Title stuff though. I think Capcom vs Nintendo would get a bigger fan base.

*cough*now only if they did a 90's Sega vs. Nintendo*cough*

Yes, but without Sakurai the development isn't really there. Right now the Smash Bros. development team is in the conceptual stage. They may be in the early stages of development, but it would be early technologically-based stuff rather than actual game decide. Currently the smash bros. development team is are deciding the art direction, character models, new additions, etc. of these two upcoming games, along with the beginning of the idea process of how they will be "different" from one another. They are also possibly deciding where they want to go with each games, what they want to do, and maybe gauging the new technology of these two new consoles. The Smash Bros. development team is dealing with two new unique consoles, and they need to know the limits/capabilities/what they can do with each console. The Smash Bros. development team also have new staff they need to inform on what to do, and get in "the loop" before serious development really begins.

Plus how could they make a game in a year without the man in charge=??? If Nintendo did that for the Wind Waker it would have been released perhaps around the same time or earlier than Majora's Mask! ;laugh: That's crazy, and near impossible if you want a new game, and a a roster size of more than just Mario! :chuckle:

And it is unlikely they will port the Brawl engine, which is a modified version of the Havok engine (which is used in many games, including all Halo FPS games from Halo 3 on). Any so-called "news" on the physics or development at this point is unconfirmed rumors that are in all likelihood are false. All roster "news" is false!

Melee's "Short development cycle" was about the same length as Brawl's. That is actually a longer development time than the average game. The difference was that Melee's development began right after Smash 64 was completed. Brawl's development began about 5 years after Melee was released. Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS development will begin nearly 4 years after Brawl was released.

it wasn't as short as you think.

as for title fight coming out in 2012, it just goes to show how secretive the development was considering hardly anyone knows of the developers so they wouldn't be-a stalkin'.
and yes... Nintendo is all about quality, Nintendo is one of the only publishers that i know of that actually cares on par with the developers.

rush smash 4... don't be ridiculous. it better also get delayed if they really need the extra time to polish EVERYTHING. i want to see my reflection on that thing.

Sakurai already stated in an Iwata Asks article that they will begin by bringing Brawl's engine over to the 3DS and Wii U.

Mario = win! :awesome: Captain Falcon would bring SSB fans. Sheik would be the only bad SSB character pick. :troll: Pichu is my top Nintendo character pick for it. Top tier Pichu ftw! :psycho:

Got a link to prove it=??? Melee's "engine" and data was moved over to Brawl, but we saw none of it in the final game. Some of it was noticeable in some of the demos, though.
it wasn't as short as you think.

Sony should release it 2013 (little competition then), and re-release it for the 2013 holiday season. On a side note, I don't see the PS3 coming out in 2012. 2012 seems too early.

Nintendo usually takes a crazy amount of time, which is why Nintendo titles are of such high quality. I hope Smash Wii U and 3DS get delayed a lot, and fresh DLC, too!

I actually hope Sony's Smash Bros is well received!

So well received that it looks like competition for Super Smash Bros. Maybe it will be an extra drive to make Smash even better than it was going to be, competiton makes us all better.
But... but.... competition makes people not want to play if they get bodied by someone better than them and that means less sales people competing.

"Title Fight" will never compete with Super Smash Bros. Not even the title comes anywhere close to competing with Super Smash Bros. It will be like comparing your sons' Little League Baseball game (Title Fight) to the World Series (Super Smash Bros).
Ahem, anywho, I don't know if this has been discussed (too lazy to sift through thousands of posts), but I think one thing that ought to be cool is custom colors; being able to create your own character palette. Maybe not change and replace a currently existing one, but creating one from scratch and then saving it into the memory card or whatever. Sakurai did say he wants Smash 4 (well, the 3DS version, anyway) to be a more personalized experience, and what better way to make it more personal than to create a character palette that expresses the gamer? Just a thought.

Also, another thing that may or may not have been discussed already; remove the limit for how long a replay can last, or at least extend the limit to, like, 10 minutes. It's sad when people have to hack a game just to be able to save a great replay that happens to last longer than 3 minutes (which is usually often).

Yeah, color palette has been discussed, and nobody opposes it (or should oppose it). We all agree it would be incredible. What you said about it I completely agree with.

I think the video length limit should be removed. For Brawl all you need to do is mess with the programming to change it. It should be gone. This is the 2011, not 1997.
Was anyone disappointed about the lack of Pokeball characters in Brawl? Melee did it much better IMO. Brawl for example had Suicune and Entei, but no Raikou. Had Moltress, but Zapdos and Articuno are gone. It sort of felt they forgot about the item mostly.
I like most of the added Pokéball Pokémon in Brawl, but the Melee and Smash 64 Pokéball Pokémon needs to return. All of the Melee Pokéball Pokémon additions were incredible. Plus removing the legendary birds and a lot of Generation 1 Pokémon is never going to get thumbs up from me.

There is also way too many "common" Pokéball Pokémon appearances. The chance of a particular Pokéball Pokémon appearing should be like Smash 64 and Melee (not Brawl) again.

Original Pokémon > The wanna be newest Pokémon.

All every post in this thread is can be called "DERP!" :awesome: :reverse: :chuckle:
Apparently, there is a rumor going around that the 3DS will get a port/remake of a seventh iteration of a popular JRPG franchise. This means either Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy. I am personally leaning toward Dragon Quest considering how many remakes, spinoffs, and main numbered titles have been on Nintendo consoles. However, if it did somehow ended up being FFVII, then here comes the Cloud for Smash 4 brigade.
Well we never got a Final Fantasy V DS or Final Fantasy VI DS like it seemed like we would (III and IV DS were incredible).

I hope it's Dragon Quest VII. I don't want "Cloud for Smash" hype. Eoww. Smile, Terra, or Kefka for Smash hype I can live with... :troll: Plus in my opinion I think Final Fantasy VII began a downward trend for the series. I haven't enjoyed a main series Final Fantasy game post-VI, IX aside.

I never played Dragon Quest past VI aside from VIII (which I love). What was VII like=??? Was it any good=???

Yeah I know it was called Dragon Quest was called Dragon Warrior until Dragon Quest VIII. But yeah, I knew it got some not so good reviews here in the states. Dragon Quest/Warrior IV. Now that is one heck of a game. Is Dragon Quest/Warrior VII anything like that=???

Does Dragon Quest VII have any character that seem worthy of any appearance in smash bros, whether as a playable character, non-playable character, background character, helper character (like Toad with Peach's neutral B), trophy, sticker, assist trophy character, boss, etc=???

I wanna know, because I think if Square Enix gets a character in smash (such as Slime, Chocobo, and Geno), I would love to see at least one character from each Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest character from each major title (on a Nintendo console) getting their own sticker, trophy, background character appearance, or perhaps for a handful of such characters even as part of a move, as a boss, or as an assist trophy.

I am interested if that if what I am suggesting happened, what character from Dragon Quest VII would get that treatment.

^ I meant Winter of 2012 as in January and February of 2012, not December of 2012. Remember, winter doesn't "officially" start until like the 20th or 21st (this year). ;) Most of winter is early in the year. That is, unless you are referring to winter as a business seasonal quarter. :)

Believe me, if Kid Icarus: Uprising was delayed that long (late December of 2012) I would be RAGING like a maniac on steroids!
I would call for Kid Icarus: Uprising to finish its' development by someone other than Sakurai so he could start working on these next two next smash bros. game!
As much as I enjoy the original Kid Icarus, I don't like it enough for me to approve its' delay to delay these two smash bros. games for a year!
Smash Bros. > Kid Icarus in my opinion. "THE FIGHT IS ON!" :pitbrawl:

Not me. After waiting 20 years (25 in Japan), you gain a lot of patience. :p

Anyway I'm pretty sure we'll get at least some news next year, my guess is if not at E3 then TGS.

Yeah Kid Icarus: Uprising should be out (at least in Japan) in just a matter of a month or two. Sakurai right now should be finishing Uprising, possibly while brainstorming over what to do with these upcoming smash bros. games.

@ ---
Yeah, but Sakurai has had plenty of time. :p

And while I expect smash news next year, I don't expect a trailer longer than 2 minutes, if we even a trailer at all. I don't think the graphics will be totally ready then, maybe a stage and a handful of characters. Even then, it will still be early rough draft graphics.

After seeing the Wii U demo graphics, I wouldn't be surprised if the Brawl-Smash Wii U graphics to be the biggest jump since at least the Smash 64-Melee jump, if not the biggest smash bros. graphics jump of all-time. :psycho: The Wii U looks like it REALLY COULD be a true 8th Generation up-to-date console graphic-wise. Hopefully other aspects of the console are just as impressive. *crosses fingers*

If we end up getting a trailer, I hope it reveals a newcomer that's been an assist trophy in Brawl (little mac, tingle, issac) just to clear some smoke

That cleared smoke storm could cause a dust cloud though. I personally would rather see as many veterans return as possible to get them out of the way. I don't want to hear stupid comments about how Ganondorf, Luigi, Bowser, and Jigglypuff are unlikely to return (which I have heard).

In other words, I want to kill the stupid! :awesome: :chuckle:

Edit: I want the debate to remain on potential newcomers. I want to know the newcomers, and I liked everyone revealed in the 1st Brawl trailer. However, talking about that one subject is all most people did. Most observations on the newcomers were wrong, too. Seriously, somebody posted about how Wario's Wario Waft would likely cover as much range as it did in the first trailer! That's why crazy awesome threads on character predictions like Wiseguy's attracted my attention so much! :chuckle: Good times, good times.

By the way, I'm totally gonna have my own character prediction thread in the Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS discussion. :cool:/ It's gonna be mad hype all day! Like mad mad MAD hype! :psycho:

If KI is bad, thousands of people who are waiting for Sm4sh will get mad. I can imagine it now...
Sakurai: Kid Icarus: Uprising is now out. Now we'll start Sm4sh.
Shortie: *Rant*
SSBF: In otherwords, it sucked.
ASage: The fight is(n't) on!
:troll:
But seriously, I hate how KI is holding up Sm4sh. I hope that game gets done so I can look forward to the trailer of Sm4sh. Also, for names, I think "Super Smash Bros. 4Ever" would be cool. (And no, it's not a reference to Pokemon 4Ever ._.)

On a more serious note, I have a feeling that as Sakurai said, how Uprising performs critically will affect SSB4. If the game is not universally acclaimed, we have trouble.
Well, to be honest, it doesn't look too bad. I saw the graphics and the bosses, along with the weapons and new mechanics, and I must say, it looks bad@$$. Another thing that's in there that'll turn on some gamers is classic renewal. The spa is back, and so is that purple veggy dude. But I'm not going to say that this game will be awesome. Not yet, anyways.

How about the hero of Cave Story in smash?
Psycho that was completely random and crazy, even for your standards. CONGRATULATIONS! :awesome:

I think Uprising will get reviews mostly in the eighties (a tad on the upper side). It will be a game that reviewers kinda like but aren't totally into. A lot of people will kind of like it and enjoy it. I certainly really like Kirby. I've beaten a good number of the games multiple times. Some people who speed run those and beat them over and over and over! :psycho:

Trust me, a noticeable segment of the fans will LOVE Uprising! (just like what happens with the Kirby franchise) Those are the kinds of games Sakurai makes. Smash to a certain extent follows it, although the people who like Smash REALLY like smash. No, I mean REALLY, REALLY, REALLY like! Like FOR REAL! :chuckle:

The long rumored Pokémon: Gray inches closer to reality with a teaser in the latest issues of Japan's Jump magazine, hinting at an "astonishing announcement" on Dec. 17 at the Jump Festa event in Chiba, Japan.

Perhaps I should reconsider... After some studying, I found out that the PKMN team HAS in fact spoken of this game. And not just idle chat. So put it in your calanders, people! That date is crucial to Pokemon and SSB4. Now, please remember that it isn't 100% Fact that it'll announce Gray.

Also, I've been waiting for this announcement for a long time. I'm hoping for a new game. Keldeo, once I though of it, isn't "An astonishing announcement".
