That's an even bigger question. At least Millia and some of the Skullgirls characters can be justified by having monsters on/in their hair. Prehensile just doesn't make a whole lot of sense otherwise.

It's really simple. Diddy got Dixie pregnant, got in an argument with her, took her on a "surprise boat ride," and dumped her retro booty on Kremling Island back in 2006 and she hasn't been seen since. Durhhh!!!!

Mario did the same thing to Paula in the early 90's when he decided Peach was hotter. Knowing him, Mario probably dumped her on some boring island in the Delfino Islands. That's probably who Diddy Kong learned that trick from...

He then probably hit up Candy while his uncle Donkey Kong wasn't looking! That might be why she's still relevant.

That or Diddy Kong mistook Funky Kong for a woman! Maybe that got Funky Kong in Mario Kart Wii...

And if I could choose a Square character that didn't originate from a Mario franchise (which would thus exclude Geno/Mallow/Croco/Boshi/other characters from Super Mario RPG), my vote still has to be Kefka. Slime still seems the logical choice, given that Dragon Quest is releasing all their major titles on Nintendo consoles exclusively again currently.

LOL at those spoilers. That ending was all like "o.O" and then all "O.o" That sounds like one of the best Zelda endings ever if it is real. I don't really care about the story or timeline too much, but it sounds pretty dope.

Also, let's try to keep spoilers in the spoiler tag... except for Mario Kart. Because honestly-who the hell feels spoiled when they learn that Metal Mario is in Mario Kart 7=???

Well if anything this might give us an idea of how Sheik's design may be approached in the next Smash Bros title. Yes characters are being given a much greater focus which is why I was stating months ago that Ghirahim might have an edge over the other one shot characters for this reason alone. It is not as much about the quantity of appearances in this case as it would be the quality. Which is why games like Final Fantasy can have a new antagonist(s) every game yet have them retain a level of prominence. Not saying Ghirahim is going to go down as the next Kefka or anything, but even if Skyward Sword is his only role he could manage to succeed far better than Zant or Majora.

The real litmus test will be in the weeks to follow.

It looks as Ghirahim is another Zant. I just hope that he gets some serious character development so that he will be considered.

First off, thank you so very much for spoiling that little tid bit SSBF. Secondly, that does not really matter as a lot of popular villains are not the primary, or only, villain in their respective series. If a character receives enough development they can stand out. Which is exactly what Ghirahim is stated to have.

Well those spoilers haven't changed my predictions yet, so for now we'll have to wait and see how the game's received and how much character development there is.

Although after looking at the spoilers, I'm surprised as I thought we'd learn about the origin of Tingle.

They both have obvious character flaws, and really felt like "one game" characters. Zant was great in Twilight Princess, but past that he would be overused. The same goes for Ghirahim. He just looks like a character that although great, you can have too much of.

Anyway, only Rare characters I want not related to Donkey Kong is Fulgore, personally. Another robot, who has a buttload of move choices.

I agree with SmashChu, though. TP would've been better if Zant was the true boss and he had more character development. Ganondorf really didn't add anything key beyond status quo.(None of his cutscenes really showed any true importance to the main plot in general)

To me it sounds like several battle themes from Final Fantasy VI, the Wind Waker, and Star Fox Assault. It reminds me of several FFVI themes, especially Kefka's theme as you mentioned. I heart hints of the Ganondorf battle theme from the Wind Waker. Lastly, I hear similarities to the Sector Z theme from Assault, as well as the Space Battleground theme.
