I have no idea what the second sentence is referring to.

Java's suggestion, (to which I think I've responded to and was supposed to lead to a project that never quite blossomed) reminded me of the level design of VB Wario Land.

If anything I would say that such a level design resembles the SSE already, but with more meaningful objectives... My point?

Well with all the games that have created rich, enjoyable experiences the SSE could have been enriched with shorter more focused explorations of those worlds. Giving off those same experiences.

As for the short comment, I was referring to our mixed perceptions of "the Olde days"

@Popeye: At least Popeye isn't addicted to bombs
I am OFFENDED, good sir. How DARE you even begin to think I am addicted to bombs!
I'm not addicted to bombs... Just the pretty explosions that show up after I throw them. :awesome:

The thing people seem to miss with Kuma's high-tech combos and whatnot is that they are not mandatory.

The point of smash was never to be a super easy game where anybody can learn and master a character and go to a tournament and play with the big boys. It was made to be easily accessible, sure. It was made to be a fun party game by nature, sure. That doesn't mean it has to sacrifice on competitive depth in order to cater to the casual audience. The casual audience will play at their own pace. If they don't want to learn about their characters hard to pull off combos or strange advanced techniques, that's fine. If they don't even know they exist, that's also fine. If they do feel like learning it and they become more skilled than the rest of their casual friends? Their friends will then be driven to learn how to stay on par. What does this accomplish? More skilled casual players.

While I don't agree with super meters or all that jazz relating to UI and in-game mechanics, I do think that characters can have really difficult combo strings and the like. If some players can't pull it off? That's fine, because their friends can't pull their characters' off either.

A game is supposed to have players who are leagues above the casual players due to knowledge of the game. That's called technical depth. You can have your cake and eat it too, in that regard.

I actually really like the sounds of some of the combos suggested. Having combos that can be escapable at certain break points as a result of DI or a misprediction would fit just fine with the spirit of smash. Why? Because they would not be easy to pull off, and they would likely only be seen in higher level play.

Smash was designed to be an easy game to get into.

I don't even need to Chu U out to exemplify that notion.

Where do you keep your bombs. You can't just pull them out of no where

Probably from your mouth. I'm gonna reflect as to why you haven't blown up yet. LOL. :awesome:

I know it was designed to be easy to get into. I said that.

Because it was designed to be easy to get into.

Easy to get into =/= easy to master

@Poppy: Many of us want you in the Backroom, that's our point. ...Unless you already figured it out and I'm being Captain Obvious here.
Yeah, I kinda assumed that when Oasis said, "He's adorable. Get him in the Backroom…"
Also, that's very kind. Now if only I knew how to get there. *DERP!*

I guess that depends on your definition of mastery

Poppy, it's the second star to the right, and carry on 'til morning. But you need to think a happy thought to fly there.

I didn't see him post.

It reminded me of the time you guys watched BPKuppa post and then it was gone.

Mastery is just that: mastery. To be a master of something, you have to have refined yourself in all aspects of it.

Casual players certainly do not know every nuance of their characters. Or at least, they don't need to.

A casual 64 player can get by just fine without knowing how to do zero-death combos, or how to Z-cancel.

A casual melee player can get by just fine without knowing their character's true combos and tricks; without knowing of L-cancelling and wavedashing.

A casual brawl player can get by just fine without knowing their character's infinites and frame traps and chaingrabs.

There are many other things that can and should differentiate players who play the game for fun and those who play the game professionally.

@Popeye: Ask the group leader: SSBF (Super Smash Bros. Fan)
SSBF! How do I get to the Backroom?

By the way, Berserker, I don't explode because my bomb fuses don't light unless they react with air. They're in my belly as to prevent airflow from reaching them. :awesome:

@Kantrip: I am dreaming that I am a pygmy marmoset... :awesome:

Wait... I don't need to fly! I know Mario, who knows Rosalina, who will send a Luma to turn into a Launch Star to send me there!

Explain how the bombs fuse out of no where?

So that is what you're experiencing,

I haven't seen Davidreamcatcha post, but maybe its a bug in the site's programming listing his entrance into the thread.

(they keep the fuses in their hats)

Yep, easy to learn, hard to master sounds about right for Smash.

@Poppy: He does it based on how much one contributes and posts on this thread. Just PM him and maybe he'll let you in. Try adding in the fact the SSBF's lowered his time on the thread and hasn't seen how much you've contributed recently.

Heck, your praise from Smashchu is almost as sure fire way to convince him to let you in, so let him know that as well. ;)

Think of the happiest things~

It's the same as having wings~

Think of all the joy you'll find, when you leave this thread behind and join that back room thing...

You can fly, you can fly, you can fly.

I think combos are cool and help both casuals and pros learn to be better.

Aah, OK. There's a lot of aspects to Adventure Mode that can use improvement. Heck, using the Nintendo environments, I want a world as diverse, full, and fascinating as the world in Nehrim (and that video only scratches the surface of what that game's world offered).

So that is what you're experiencing,

He's posted before, but he's more of a stalker of the thread than a full-on poster.

That and he says comes in contact with air, not oxygen. Perhaps he meant the nitrogen in air (which is far more abundant than oxygen).

Looking at the current topic, I hope that the Government isn't monitoring this thread.

As I've always had a feeling that Oasis might be a spy... :awesome:

Aren't we supposed be concerned about moderators or something? Topics are going wayward.

Oh and Java, I don't doubt that has posted, just that I didn't see his post when B did.

The next game's design should be insightful enough to look into what Sega has done with Generations.

Movesets in what regard?

I was like more than halfway done my Prince Fluff moveset and then gave up. I may finish it in the Christmas holidays.
