It took 4, which is average (Gen 1 took a bit over 3 and a half, Gen 2 took 3, rest took 4).

Remember than Gen 5 is a year old alreddy, and new Pokemon get revealed 1 year before a gen is released. Even the bare minimum 2 years put us into the middle of gen 6 hype (which hurts Zoroark even more, as being the first revealed for gen 5 is all he has going for him)

Ah, I was looking at something else, my bad. Even so, that's a hevfty yearing. SSB4 should be out in 13 or 14. And with almost everything covered, Pokemon Rumble, remakes, and maybe even a new mystery dungeon or puzzle game will make less space for developing a 6th generation. Sorry, bro. But everyone's got a chance. But let's see what happens. Most likely, it'll be some time. SSB4 should be announced next year, so 6th gen isn't part of the equation (yet).

I never said a gen 6 pokemon, I said that Zoroark isn't going to last that long on it own merits because gen 6, and his replacement, coemath (also: Gen 5 has not too many spin-offs so far, so far 2 have been announced, both sequels to old spin-offs that don't give gen 5 stuff real prominence).

Indeed, a prominent Pokemon from one of the spin-offs has more chance.

Hell, Galvantula actually has popularity of the kind that will last, as it won't be replaced. Zoroark can barely make the top 10 most popular of the new Pokemon, Galvantula can top it.

You said 6th gen hype, so obviously u meant something. But anywyas Zoroark and Victini are the top 2 in getting into SSB4, so idk wat ur talking about spider-yellow thing Lol. Besides, Japan LOVES Zoroark. THat's a huge boost.

Being released in the center of gen 6 hype at the earliest kills the chances of gen 5 stuff.

Ike is the Like of the Mike, bro ^^ (IDK who Mike is, but...)
@deuxhero Highly improbable that 6th gen is coming out anytime soon. The PKMN company even says they're in a stand-by with the generation building (I've only heard rumors of such, so idk for sure). Zoroark and Victini are the ones you might wanna look at. No other 5th generation pkmn fits the suit, unless u can find one

Ah, I see. The quality was pretty good so I had assumed it was from the Wii.

I can see an increase in stages from new series that may or may not have a character associated with it. Reason for this is I see a decrease in the amount of new stages added to existing series. If I am right and Yoshi, Ice Climber, and Mr. Game and Watch do not receive new stages, theoretically the focus could go elsewhere.

Sin and Punishment
Custom Robo
Advance Wars
Golden Sun
Legendary Starfy
Xenoblade
Rhythm Heaven

Those are the most logical in my opinion, and would better represent the smaller series beyond just an Assist Trophy.
I really don't agree. The only series that I think will get a stage without a character is Rhythm Heaven and that's more that Rhythm heaven doesn't have a true star. Also, Yoshi, Ice Climbers and G&W will get a stage for sure. ROB too probably.

I say Liz should get a 3rd slot. She seems to be a lord (She has a unique sprite and is in the banner on the official site across from Chrome/Krom, and it's a Gaiden style game, which both had 2 lords.), and she is a magic user.

I don't play the Fire Emblem series, so idk about that. But I have played Path of Radiance. That's what counts right? I like Ike because of that giant sword he wisks around. Reminds me of the 12 ft sword I have in my closet :)

You're insane if you think Zoroark isn't going to last as long as a Pokemon who isn't even a contender. Zoroark is being endorsed by Pokemon. Movie trumps anything Galvantula has. Which is basically nothing.

The slot always has, and will always go to a Movie/Anime Pokemon. Now that the anime is no longer as big as it used to be, basically it's just left to movies. The only Pokemonn character that got in strictly off the games was Red, and even then "Satoshi" has been suggested since Melee days.

Anime/Movies will always dominate the Pokemon decisions.

I always thought Red got in do to Firered and Leafgreen's combatability with Wireless connections, and as a remake of the originals.

I think he was suggested by the Pokemon co. But I'm trying to say is even the characters who got in "strictly because of the games" have been suggested because of the anime for a LONG TIME. Satoshi is Ash, if you didn't know. And of course Ash is based off Red, the Pokemon Trainer. Basically Pokemon Trainer was suggested back in 2001.

Ah, ok I see. Then I think Red needs a new camo ^^

Yep. I loved FE9. It's easily my most played FE game, that and FE1.

This is to some extent unfortunetly true, although I do try to change things up by getting you all to look at the manga a bit. :p

Nope. http://kotaku.com/5810081/farewell-gamecube-the-wii-u-doesnt-play-you

At least the classic controller will still be usable. I am very worried about this new console though. Still no HDD? Only one of the touch pad controllers can be used per a console? It's not looking good so far.
Come on, this is Nintendo we're talking about. This is the same company that stuck with cartridge when everyone else switched to CD. This is the same company that made the Wii underpowered, what with the last-gen graphics, Friend Codes, and not even standard DVD was available. This is the same company that still uses text boxes when everyone else uses voice acting. I love Ninty, but they have a big problem with adapting to the times. They'd rather stay stuck in the past.

Honestly, no VA is good. Only Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines (and Guillo in BKO, who was a cool effect over good acting) managed to make voice acting NOT just a indicator the script sucks and a space hog (Beyond the hammy so bad it's good of stuff like Baten Kaitos). DVD is an uneeded cost as well (who didn't have a DVD player when the Wii came?)

Galvantula suggestion is sarcasm.

How does anime/movies decide the Pokemon choices (which also hurts Zoroark if true, as there are movies that will actually be recent planed, even the most recent movie at time of planing goes to Victini.)? Pikachu and Jiggs were popular before the anime, Mewtwo was also popular independent of the movie, Pichu was Masuda's favorite and a clone at the last min (and never prominent in the anime or movies. It appeared in a short, which is it).

Pikachu is the mascot of Pokemon.
Jigglypuff played an important role in the 1st series and I believe the 2nd series of the anime.
Zoroark and Victini have same properties as Lucario and Mewtwo. And there are usually 2 reps for PKMN, but I wouldn't be surprise if one more is invovled.
The anime is the biggest part of the decision. Pichu, BTW, was part with the 2nd gen and was baby to the mascot. Why he was in.

Pikachu - DUH.
Jigglypuff - Had a decent role in the Anime during it's hay day.
Mewtwo - EXTREMELY Popular movie.
Red - Already explained
Lucario - First 4th gen movie (I think) he ended up being picked over more "recent" movie characters (I think) like Darkrai. (That movie may have come out post Brawl though, even so it just proves that Movie trumps normal popularity)
Pichu - Quick clone, so of course they're going to pick someone similar to Pika. He's also insanely popular. Less about the anime, more about "Who can we pick that will be a quick and effective add?"

I wanted to give some info on Lucario. He was first 4th gen introduced in PKMN Mystery Dungeon 1

I alreddy said Pika,Jiggs and Mewtwo were popular before the anime. Please read.

Darkrai doesn't have a body for a fighting game like Victini does.

Which helps Zoroark how?

Pikachu is the mascot out of popularity. Note how minor it is in Red and Blue.

Zoroark.

Gen 5 will be done/close to done when this is out, and we will be in full gen 6 hype mode in 2 years.

Victini has SOME chance due purely to being Masuda's favorite, Zoroark has none.
Uhm no? It was recently Zoroark month due to Zoroark's popularity it's still an incredibly popular Pokemon and no we won't be in Gen 6 hype mode we probably won't here anything of Gen 6 until 2015... try a little harder next time

Pichu mainly got in because Sakurai wanted to do some last-minute cloning and artificially enlargen the roster, and particularly in Pichu's case, he was also a joke character. Hence why he was intentionally bad in Melee and had a useless gimmick, because of Sakurai's trolling.

Being the 2nd gen/baby Pokemon rep mascot was not the main reason he got in.

@deuxhero- Of course Pikachu was popular before the anime, he was back then and still is the face of Pokemon.

No. This "Month" was a gloried (very minor) prize drawing that also had a mirrored Japanese event (which only occurred because Zoroark is event only so far).

I can guarantee you that Zoroark will be able to be obtained regularly once Pokemon Gray comes out. But bring up a Gen VI Pokemon for this game is ridiculous since Gen V only turned one year old a few days ago.

Also Shortie can you dig up the results for that poll of yours I want to see it for a split second.

So calling a contest for 25 people getting a DVD and a toy you can get off the shelf cheep "minor" is "l o l"?

"Month" refers to nothing but the entry period.

Which is why Pichu, in my book, deserves another chance at playability. What Sakurai did to him was disrespectful.

It doesn't matter it is the entry period, Zoroark is still incredibly popular and probably still will be until the game out and "favorite Pokemon" really doesn't matter Poliwhirl was Satoshi Tajiri the creator of Pokemon favorite Pokemon and it didn't get in SSB. Not really a good point but oh well.

^ Except Poliwhirl got a TON of stuff for it. Ever wonder why it was Red's starter in Special? Why it pops up in a bunch of logos?
