Designed Items: For certain characters
I got this idea when I hooked up Pikachu with the Light Orb on my Black game. This is how it works. A character picks up an item, known as the U-own Trophy. Then it transforms into a power up item or a weapon or defensive item. Here's an example:
Mewtwo picks it up. Turns into Mental Spoon.
Mental Spoon:
Like the Laser Sword, but when thrown, it boomerangs and comes back if you press the throw button once. It doesn't get bigger when smash attacked.
So that's an example. I'll list the characters below:
Mario: Ice Flower
Like the Fire Flower, but it blows cold wind at the opponent, doing ice damage and more knockback. when it runs out, throw it at an opponent to temprarally freeze them.

Luigi: Vaccuum
It can suck up opponents, then spit them out anywhere. Unlike King De3, Luigi cannot move as he sucks them up, but can spit them further, also doing 3% damage in suck, and when spitted.

Peach: Melee Parasol
This parasol is now used as a weapon. It's exactly like the one from Melee, except it does electric damage, and it raises Peach's (B)^ move up 1/2 character space.

Bowser: Spiky Blue Shell
When thrown, this item won't harm the thrower, but it will travel on the ground, hurting everyone else. An upgraded version of the Red Shell.

Donkey Kong: Peanut Gun
An upgraded version of Diddy's, it spits out Peanuts straight fowards, and they do 6% more damage on impact than the original Diddy has. Takes 1 second long to charge, however, and doesn't blow up.

Diddy Kong: Controlled Barrel Rockets
This item is worn, so Diddy can hold other items as well. This item boosts his (B)^, being able to be controlled easier when guiding it, but it is a tad slower than the other. Breaks after death.

Yoshi: Helicopter Power-Up
When (B)^ is used three times, this item will be useless. This item is also worn. This move will turn Yoshi into an unknockable or unflinchable Yoshicopter! It is controlled for 7 seconds, being able to move freely around the screen, except going through objects obviously. The top of Yoshicopter harms others when they touch it.

Wario: Tough Gloves
This item is worn, so Wario can hold other items as well. All moves involving the (A) move will be powered up a little bit, making Wario's Power even more terrifying. This item dies out when wario does too.

Link: Call of Courage
This item is worn, and will brighten Link's outer lining of his body, so he can use other items as well. Link's (B)^ move is powered up double, and locks opponents as soon as it starts spinning. It also draws enemies closer. This move also brings them straight upwards, maximumllly doing 33% damage. When done in the air, enemies are repelled away from him. Fades when the hero dies.

Toon Link: Speedy Boots
This item is worn, so TL can use other items. TL will run faster, smash faster, and execute everything faster. However, at the cost of 3% power off all moves. Shields are powered up a tiny bit, letting TL keep them up longer without them breaking. Boots come off when he dies.

Zelda/Shiek: Whisper of Wisdom
This item is worn, and will brighten Zelda's outer lining of her body, so she can use other items as well. Her move Din's Fire can now be as strong as a bob-omb, and her jumps become larger. Fades when the princess dies. same with Sheik, except her (A) attacks will stregnthen instead of a (B) move, and her speed increases instead of her jumps.

Gannondorf: Hero's Bane
He brings his sword to the fight now, having faster attacks, but a 3% weaker stance on all of them. (B) moves aren't affected in any way. Breaks when the lord of evil DIEs.

Samus: Ice Beam
She now has her old item, the Ice Beam, which can freeze opponents like the freezie does as an item when it's fully charged. Use it three times and it'll break. It's also an item, so u can't pick up nemore. Also this item is non-throwable, meaning if u press the throw button, it'll just fall and break. You can use (B) moves, but not (A) moves, for it's taken by the Ice Beam. The Ice beam is controlable, and can be tilted to any direction.

ZSamus: Chozo's Teachings
Her skills in jumping, running, and her (B)> become strengthened. Her (B)> move goes further and higher. This item is worn, so other items can be used. Fades when she falls.

Pit: Claws
All of his (A) moves involve the sweet pair of Claws he uses in Uprising. His (B) moves aren't effected. All (A0 moves are powered up by 5%. This is an item, so other items cannot be picked up. Only dies when thrown or when Pit falls with them.

Ice Climbers: Moutain Kit Plus
This item is worn. The kit powers up traction, defense, and the (B)^ of the two. If Nana falls, the item will disappear, but will revive Nana on the spot next to Popo. This item also breaks when Popo dies.

ROB: Mecha Buster Ultra
His (B) move is upgraded, becoming the Mecha Buster Ultra. This item is worn, so other items can be used. ROB's laser is always charged, and does more damage, 6% more. Gets degraded when ROB dies.

Kirby: Random-a-fier
Kirby recieves a random power-up from any character, and has the possiblilty to optain 3 rare powerups. Here they are.
Ninja: (B) Knife Throw
Kirby throws knives, one by one, and they hurt. Each does 7% damage, and can hit in a succesion of 3 times. They have bad knockback, but can be used as edge pushers.
Ice: (B) Icical Storm
He charges his cold energy. Once fully charged, he can unleash a burst of cold wind energy from his body, doing 6% on contact, and 9% on edge hit. This move halts him in the air, and does 1% less.
Suplex: (B) Suplex (?)
He grabs an opponent, and depending on where you press the anolog stick afterwards, he throws them in a special way towards that area. All do 20% damage, and have huge knockback.

King De3: Armored Dedede
This item is wore, however some items cannot be held, like the barrel or box. In this state, until he falls, De3 becomes the Dedede he was in Super Star Ultra. All moves are upgraded, but his weight is doubled, making falling down a pit extremely dangerous to him. His jumps are limited as well. De3's (B)^, however, is upgraded by 1 Character space, and when he falls, it's extremely fast. Countering stars are 2x bigger, and if the opponent is right under De3, they get pitted. However, if De3 is hit too many times (gets around 130% damage on him), the aromr dies. Same goes if he dies.

Meta Knight: Meta Restore
This item recovers Meta Knight's HP all the way. It also causes knockback damage when it happens, if anyone is 1 1/2 character spaces near him.

Olimar: Pikmin Power
Olimar's Pikmin double in attack and double in effects. They also get tougher to kill, as well. Kill Olimar to defeat the powered up flower people.

Fox: Blaster Mach 2.0
Fox's Blaster gets a double tap and shoots more than before. It also pushes enemies, but not too much. The blaster dies when Fox does.

Falco: Double Blasters
I personally thought he would of had two on Brawl, but neways this lets him get two out. If an enemy is 1 character space near him, he fires both directions. If not, he fires both blasters in eyesight. The gun dies when Falcon does.

Wolf: Juggernaut Blaster.
His Blaster is upgraded into a JuggarBlaster, doing 5% more damage and a tiny bit more knockback than usual. It dies when Wolf does.

Captain Falcon: Skill of Falcon
His Falcon Punch gets -1 less charge rate, making it possible to hit more. The skill falls when the good Captain does.

Pikachu: Light Orb
Held item. This item makes all of Pikachu's electric powers increase. (B)v too (^^). The light orb breaks when Pikachu dies.

PKMN Trainer: Rare Candy
All of his Pokemon's (B) moves are powered up. Squirtle's (B) move charges faster, Ivysaur's (B) move locks and freezes enemies longer, and Charizard's (B) move takes 2x longer to get tired of. If they execute their final smash, the item dies and the FS sucks enemies to the Pokemon, making it possible to hit everyone. Dies also if one of the Pokemon die.

Lucario: Aura Staff
Lucario carries the staff he was once imprisoned inside of, and he wants to bash people around with it. This item is like the star rod, but throws mini spheres and hits 2 character spaces away. This is an item, not worn.

Jigglypuff: Microphone Marker
Jigglypuff's (B)^ move rises her 1 character space up, and her pitch raises, making anyone 1 1/2 character spaces away fall to sleep. This is an item, not worn.

Marth: Cape of Endurance
His Flinch and knockback resistinces are doubled, making Marth dangerous. Worn item, it fades after the warrior falls.
~
Ike: Cape of Injustice
His power and defense increase, making him extremely dangerous. His (B)^ move cancelsafter he touches it if you press (B) when you have this cape. Rips when Ike RIPs.
~
Ness: PK Soda
Ness drinks a PK Soda, doubling his (B) move. It goes as far as Lucas's, and also breaks it's power on the spot if Ness is hit. Power up fades when Ness dies.

Lucas: PK Juice
Lucas drinks a PK juice, doubling his (B) move. It can be manuveured straigh upwards if the anolog stick is held that way, and breaks on the spot when Lucas is hit.

G&W: LCD Defense
He gets an LCD sheild. There are three surrounding him from above, right, and left. When one is hit three times by any attack, they break. Only way to hit G&W is by destroying them. If he jumps, an extra shield shows up under him. Breaks also if G&W falls back in history (dies). This is an item.

Snake: Metal Gear Humanoid
Snake's body gets an upgrade, and he gets a suit that boosts his flinch, knockback, and defense by 1.5x. Breaks when he dies. This is worn.
~
Sonic: Ring of Boost
Sonic wears the Brawl Ring, which doubles his Flinch resistance and power by 2x. breaks when Sonic dies or hits the water at any time.
