Yeah I was pissed at the L button initially too. I couldn't spot dodge or roll for weeks after I got the game.

But. . . it's just easy now to time a trigger depress along with a jump input. Like, I use it to do Fist Planting (wait. . . I've forgotten the name we gave this thing). It's almost the same as the B-stick version (nothing without B-stick can duplicate it exactly).

This just doesn't make sense!! I've got my controller in my hand right now. I can't slide my thumb from y to b. Where the heck are you holding the controller from?

If I reposition my thumb so that I can get Y, but B with the side of my thumb, then I can see a motion, but I'd lose my physical grip on the controller, and still hit A about 15% of the time.
Like I said, I would tell you if I was wrong about the L button. Well, I'm wrong. Doing it with the L button is at least as successful as the Y->B slide. I can't say if it's my preferred method yet, but I can easily see this becoming the way I do this move for one reason: a dedicated FoG button, essentially. I used to have L set to grab so I could do really easy pivot grabs, but I don't foresee a problem with transitioning back to the Z button.

I decided to switch to the L Special method when I was working on getting a FJ UAir -> DJ Airdodge -> FoG. I got it...several times. I was finding that my right hand was getting confused being responsible for all of the actions (jump, A, and Special), and upon switching to the L Special method, it was easier to keep things organized. I also turned Tap Jump off as FD suggested so that essentially the actions are like this:

Stage 1 - First Jump and UAir:
Left Hand: Hold up on control stick.
Right Hand: Decisively press the Y button to trigger a FJ, then slide to the A button once Ganon has left the ground for a UAir. If you slide too quickly, you will jump cancel into an upsmash.

Stage 2 - Second Jump Airdodge:
Left Hand: Continue holding up on the control stick. Alternately you can allow the stick return to neutral/center. Immediately after you press Y and Z with your right hand, begin holding down on the Control Stick. If you begin holding down too early, you will fast fall.
Right Hand: Out of the UAir, press Y and Z at the same time to do an Air Dodge with your second jump.

Stage 3 - Flight of Ganon:
Left Hand: Continue holding down on the control stick. IMMEDIATELY after you press the Y button with your right hand, depress the L button (set to Special) while you continue holding down on the control stick.
Right Hand: Press Y to buffer the Recovered Second Jump as you do in every other method of FoG. IMMEDIATELY after you press the Y button, depress the L button with your left hand.

I'm working on FJ DAir options too, but I haven't had success yet.

*throws arms up* HURRAY!

I want to figure out doing this without an air dodge. That's what post #6 was about, right? If it works from "Wizkick glitch tumble," then it's just a matter of frameless landing (SJR), right?

I haven't yet gotten this to work out of a Second Jump UAir, but in theory it's possible and it's jut a matter of figuring out the right timing. DAir, UAir, and BAir can all be surrogates for the Air Dodge. The best thing which has actually been accomplished so far is UAir->SJ AD->FoG. Both Flying Dutchman and I have gotten this to work.

I've started trying to work it into practice matches, with some giggity-tastic results. I'm nowhere near perfect with it, but I've Uaired off the top of FD, did a falling Fair to a high recovering Lucas trying to PKT2 me, among some other things. The fact that it's unexpected on how high he ends up going is the best part. I don't even bother trying it on WiFi anymore, timing is jank.

I've had more success pulling it off if I use L for specials, and when falling for the SH method hitting jump, down and L all in that successive order very close to each other.

Good and maybe bad news :l

Sooooo...

Here's the good news:
'Technical' ISJR U-air:
[instant double jump] + [U-air] > buffer jump+U-air as you land.

Think of the double jump timing like Draconic Reverse. An "easier" way to do it is (with default controls) to 'claw' so you have your right index finger on Y or X, then your thumb on the C-stick. What I do personally is YY+flick up on C-stick...Y+CstickUp...Y+CstickUp... etc.

I've gotten up to 5 ISJR U-airs in a row at best so far lol.

And here's the maybe bad news:
Even though I got up to 5 ISJR U-airs in a row, I haven't been able to do the Flight of Ganon from U-air at all :l

I've now been able to do FoG from FJ u-air and FJ b-air now...but I'm having a lot more interest in ISJR stuff, especially doing b-airs and u-airs with ISJRd stomps and f-airs.

B-air is really timing based, you have to know when to DJ AD or aerial pretty well, but it looks cool :p.

Jesus, the timing is so hard for some of this stuff, I wonder if it could be mastered enough to use in competitive play but...it could be awesome

It's....so....beautiful....

By that, do you mean doing a fullhop U-air/B-air, then doublejump airdodge?

because that's pretty much how it seems to work- the dj-airdodge is the only way I've been able to pull the Flight off.

like, rising B-air/U-air, wait until you fall at the 'short hop height' then DJAD > flight

No luck so far with pulling it off from an attack ISJR...

Yea FJ u-air/b-air DJ air dodge. It seems weird with the u-airs because it's only ever wizkick into the ground or land, I'm not sure if it's the duration or something else.

I might've done it, like once before...but I can't remember it at all so I'm going to count it as a no >.>.

I want to ISJR stomps across the stage like Peach's dair :demon:

Being able to do that would propel Ganondorf so far up the tier list.

awe :[

the ISJR U-air thing is kinda useful XD. 5 in a row, cool stuff.

On a note related to this tech:
I lied/told the wrong inputs for 'my version' of the inputs for the DJAD.

(holding down/down diagonal the whole time) [X] > [X]+[shield] > [Y]+[B ]

I hit X with my thumb, then I switch to 'claw' and have my thumb on B and index finger on Y.

And for the ISJR U-air string, I keep it on a Y/C-stick 'claw' position

I really would love to see this used against Snake's high recovery and then use a side-b to gimp him from 40 feet to his death. That would be so amazing and inspirational.

I've been trying for this for a while now. This is the one thing I want the most in a replay for my combo vid.

My friend was complaining the other day about his Captain Falcon jumping high for no reason, I dunno if that's due to a similar thing although he didn't go nearly as high as Ganondorf does.

Would you mind terribly if it's just me going up and Ganonciding him, or do I have to gimp him?
I don't want it to be a ganoncide. I want to grab him out of cypher way above the stage and drop with him like 50 feet to the ground, crushing his skull with what might be the most violent and brutal move possible in brawl. haha.

Many of you are indicating to me that you've gotten better at this technique than even myself.
I'm proud of all you Ganons and I truly hope to see this put to good use in serious matches.

I'm still practicing the dodge version which I'm only doing every now and again but I've now pretty much gotten the Wizkick version down to 100% perfection. Its pretty awesome as you back off from the edge and come back flying the opponent doesn't have a clue how to deal with a flying Ganon.

People may rip on Ganon's running and regular animations in general, but he has the most badass animations in Brawl, no one else can even compare.

Seriously...lifting them up by their face with just one of your hands and shooting dark flames down their throat? Kicking someone straight to the sternum and shattering it, stomping them in the head so their entire spine is crushed...checking them in the nuts with f-throw. Taking them into the abyss and crushing their head into the ground.

Ganon is awesome

Either way, the man's right!

Actually, that's the thing that made me pick up Ganon in the first place. I looked at all these characters, and really, Ganon was the only one who really looked pissed at you, especially during throws. Game & Watch juggles you, Snake tenderly lays you down for a Spider-man kiss, Fox shoots and misses, Peach humps you, Bowser ***** you, and Ganon shatters your nuts for his own enjoyment. On top of that, he has the flame choke, which, I think we can all agree, is the most badass move in Brawl.

Mad new sigs all up in this sh*t. fromundaman, I'm flattered.

Ray Kalm - it's gonna happen. I've managed to eff up a few skilled snake's cypher with a FoG, aerial gerudoing the cypher causing them to either die missing the C4 recovery or at least get freaked the f*ck out. I can't wait for that skull crusha.

It's funny...at a certain point in most wifi matches I stop caring about winning and only try to land specific combos that I've wanted to see for a long time. In the event I land them, I suicide, twice if necessary, in order to get the replay. heh.

That statement deserves it!

Hehe, I can only imagine the reactions of the people on the other side.
"Holy ****! That Ganon is ****ing amazing! How the hell did he do that? I'm so screwed..." *Suicide suicide--> GAME!*

Live to be about 300+ years old and run the mile and then talk to me about jacked up running animations. People have no right to criticize Ganon's run.

But yes that's what makes Ganondorf the most godly character in brawl. He's obviously the most brutal in the game. He's the reason it's rated T.

My turn to blatantly sig bait!

---

The best thing about being Ganon is the fear you inspire. There are people who say "Ganondorf sucks" but it is all an act. Their very souls quiver as you walk up to them. You grab them by the neck and the last thing they ever hear is an evil laugh. You can even hear the fear when the god**** announcer says Ganondorf. If you turn the volume way up, you'll hear what he is really saying: "Ganondorf, the almighty. Opponent, may God have mercy on your soul."

---

How'd I do?

Also, someone needs to test a FOG on the wind part of Pokemon Stadium 2.

Not so hot. It's too forced. The carnage has to flow naturally like the blood of the unforgiven foes of the King of Evil come the Ganocalypse.

Also...I'm going to test windy FoG right now.
