Here’s another
mark of Sukapon’s general superiority.
The joy mecha Flame’s throw (simply called “Air Throw”) could make a cool Uthrow for Sukapon, both in appearance and effect. It would give her a good way to control her opponent’s location, on the condition that she has good control of her own location. It would also add a more versatile meteor-throw to the game than the current crop of Falco and company’s Dthrows.
Although the original threw backwards, it may be prudent for the Smash version to throw forwards, so it rewards the advantageous position and doesn’t encourage camping.
Also, there are a couple of unique features that Sukapon could add to the game that I don’t think have been stressed enough. These are things that drive my support, from which I infer there are other players who would love a character like her (although they might not be aware that such a playstyle could happen). These potential features are her long range and focus on precision; specifically, in an essential, unsafe manner that current characters do not support.
Characters like Marth and Ivysaur are already notable for their long range, but it is achieved via disjoints. Sue, on the other hand, being unarmed, would be risking as much in attacking from afar as fast characters do by getting close. But in exchange for sacrificing that priority, she could have much more extreme range.
Things like Marth’s tippers and Zelda’s heels are already notable for requiring precision, but their sourspots are still quite large and not that bad, and are only really important (or extant, in Zelda’s case) on a couple moves. Sue’s “sourspots,” on the other hand, would be large, closeby areas where the move misses entirely, and this feature would permeate her moveset. But in exchange for being difficult just to hit with at all, the reward for landing a hit could be much greater.
Current characters all just
feel worse to me in their usage of these features. Playing as them is less gratifying, playing against them is more aggravating. It’s more watered-down than what Sukapon could do, less potent and less important for them. They just don’t
feel as good to me (and I suspect others) as they could, and I think Sukapon could.
As a final note, two other features I see Sukapon possessing are slow-speed high-acceleration weaving and a talent for natural dodges, both of which are currently exemplified by Jigglypuff.
Also, I feel I should reiterate that I disagree with the assessment of Sukapon as being
necessarily difficult to create, as I believe she could be largely made as a clone of Peach, Luigi, Olimar, or even a fusion of the three.
