I've got some new ideas for Ray recently, so I'm going to start sketching them out. I hope to get them done tonight. See you guys in a bit.

Looking forward to that. Your sketches and ideas were the sole reason I voted for Ray in the first place.I've got some new ideas for Ray recently, so I'm going to start sketching them out. I hope to get them done tonight. See you guys in a bit.
I realize I haven't been working on his moveset for a while, but I've had a lot on my plate to deal with recently. Life comes at you at unexpected times. I honestly hate having left you all hanging for so long with it, so I'll try not to disappoint.Looking forward to that. But that limits their options to just a couple of moves. With only a few possible ground moves to use, Wavedash down-stilt is a great punish.I was with you until you said being tall makes Squirtle and Fox be out meta'd. Squirtle loves having people above him (USmash and U tilt) and Fox has that deadly Uair too.
A couple of moves which are arguably their best. Shy Guy being in the air from the start with his stilts really just eliminates the need for the two to get him into the air. Plus there are several other characters that have deadlier air games than Squirtle and Fox.But that limits their options to just a couple of moves. Crouching would be one of his most advanced techs, allowing him to circumvent the opposition's aerials. It's like vertical dashdancing.A couple of moves which are arguably their best. Really, the whole stilt thing just seems like a detriment, which is what i'm trying to point out.Crouching would be one of his most advanced techs, allowing him to circumvent the opposition's aerials. It's like vertical dashdancing.
CondorPlus, Imagine how I feel knowing my Alpha-Omega tier holy grail is Shadow the Hedgehog from Sonic Adventure 2. THAT hurts.
We should have Mario Brothers in this gameI know this will sound silly, but I would love to see a "Mario Bros" tandem character of Mario and Luigi. One move would switch their order, causing all of their moves to change. This would be a pretty cool character, and I'll do a writeup of a moveset I theorized later if anyone is interested. Sadly, I am quite certain this character would never make it in.
Inb4 Condor confirmed to troll the Ridley fans. I can see it now:Condor
However I've always known he has a 0% chance. I still have an attachment, I just won't be upset without him.
I'll be content with whatever as long as they aren't too big
I would rather have 0 chance for Shadow rather than Negative percentiles chance. It is basically a ***** slap to the face saying "Not in a million years. You have horrible taste."Condor

Pmbr: "Yeah, Ridley was too big, so we gave you Condor instead"

I actually had this idea years ago except it was a "Mario Babies" dual character. I think it'd be alright.I know this will sound silly, but I would love to see a "Mario Bros" tandem character of Mario and Luigi. We should have Mario Brothers in this game
Oh yes. And Sonic should have friends named Ankles the Chinchilla and Neck the Giraffe.Robot Waluigi FTW it seems.
When I first saw that his name was "Waluigi" and he had an upsidedown L on his hat I was like dude that's dumb. They should have named him 'Fuigi' since the closest looking letter to a flipped L is an F. But then I learned that in Japan 'Warui" means bad and it's a play on words. BUT NOT IN 'MERICA SO WHAT GIVES.
I'm down with Condor. Though I'd rather have Polar Bear as a 2nd IC rep.Condor

I don't get it but I know you're having a go at me so nuts to you dear sir.Oh yes. And Sonic should have friends named Ankles the Chinchilla and Neck the Giraffe.
I just think you are reacting quite silly about something as minor as a visual play on a character. One of Waluigi's most remarkable traits IS the upside-down L on his hat. It is clearly just a reference to the fact Wario's W is made to mirror Mario's M. And why change something that originally was made in Japan anyways? Unless it is offensive, there is no reason they should.I don't get it but I know you're having a go at me so nuts to you dear sir.
When was this comic released?Outdated model is outdated
Well I mean of course it's too late now or whatever, but I'm saying it would make sense if they made a tweak like that for the exact reason they renamed Rockman to Megaman, right? Sure there's some principal reason to leave original Japanese intent untouched but that can only go so far. Sometimes you really need to "Americanize" sh*t or else people just won't get it. Megaman wouldn't have gotten anywhere if people's first impression of him was that he was some sort of goofy golem instead of a badass robot kid with a gun-arm. People would look at the title and be like "Wait a minute, what does this guy have to do with rocks?". I guarantee you to this day most people think Walugi's name is simply based on the 'Wa' being like Wario and they have no clue 'warui' is Japanese for 'bad'. Likewise most people weren't going to be aware that 'Rockman' was arbitrarily named after the music genera along with the other characters of the series.I just think you are reacting quite silly about something as minor as a visual play on a character. The reason you are arguing honestly makes no sense whatsoever. Mega Man was a character made in the NES days when the gaming market was still fresh. Mega Man is the character you see advertised in his games, the main character. Waluigi is a side character who has no major sales impact on the Mario series. Mario is the character who sells the games. Not Waluigi. Also, you are arguing the meaning of the character's name. It is visually obvious that Waluigi is meant to be a "bad Luigi". The "Wa" in his name implies relation to Wario in some regard too, so it isn't much of a stretch to assume who this character is or how he came to be. He does his job just fine.Well I mean of course it's too late now or whatever, but I'm saying it would make sense if they made a tweak like that for the exact reason they renamed Rockman to Megaman, right? I get that Waluigi's name is not nearly as important as how they handled megaman's name though. I'm just saying its the exact same sentiment.
Oh right! How could I have possibly forgot that? Jeeze...Two-Thousand and Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
A Shy Guy moveset? So I've been trying to come up with an idea for a Shy Guy moveset. I'm having a lot of trouble though. I know one of them catches himself on fire and I think they can throw things. But I think he has potential for being a really polarizing character due to his unique move. Picture this:
Shy guy has a neutral B that shifts modes between his stilts from Yoshi's island 2 and his grounded form. This is similar in execution to Lucas' Offense up. Stilts mode makes him taller than the tall humans of the cast, but his entire lower half doesn't have a hitbox. This would make most characters be forced to use uptilts and aerials. Small characters like Squirtle would finally get out-meta'd and get hard-countered. Fox would be too short to Up Smash him, thus hard countered. But if he is hit out of his stilts, he goes into his small grounded form, allowing you to combo him until he can establish his stilts again to use in his strong neutral game.
Up B would be a propeller.
Side B would be kicking a soccer ball or driving a cart.
Aerial Down B would be a command grab, where you lift them above you and cargo carry them. Functions just like Mario's throw used in Super Mario 2 and incredibly ironic, especially if used on Mario, Luigi, and Peach. Grounded down b could be a variant of Peach's turnips.
Final Smash could be anti-guy.
Shy Guy is one of the coolest and uninspired characters in the Mario franchise. He does not have much of a moveset potential, but that means there is more potential for original ideas a la what was done with Captain Falcon. Toad is a better choice in most aspects, but Smash is all about strange and unexpected characters which means Shy Guy.
+1/2 Shy Guy
Thanks! Hearing things like this motivates me to keep pressing on with the ideas and sketches. But as I said before, I have a lot going on in my life that makes it a bit hard at times to sit down and do things like this. I'm going to try my best though, because I really do want to convey how I'm seeing this character play to you all so you can see why I want him so badly.Glad to see you're working on Ray stuff again
Easily the best looking concept art in this thread
Plus Ray is cool so
I can respect that, both points. I look forward to when you can get to it. Don't think you need to do this, though, you don't owe us anything. Thanks! You've played more than me man. I hardly deserve to vote for Ray I haven't played CR for ****.Custom Robo is one of my favourite series(unfortunately I have only played Battle Revolution and Arena), and I would love to see Ray. He should have either Bubble Gun, Knuckle Gun, Stun Gun, Claw Gun, or Dragon gun if ever put in Smash(especially project mustache. Ground Freeze Pods and Sky Freeze pods would be cool, make it switch between ground or sky version based on whether fired in the sky or on the ground. His Uair would be a Flare Gurn shot straight up, Dair would be a Shotgun shot straight down. Jab would be a Standard Gun shot. This character wouldmbe so crazy to fight.
