need help convincing my parents to let me go to house tournies

tell them to come with and meet some of the people there, see how it's set up, etc.

I started playing competitively when i was 14. Parents are an obstacle at times, but they can be overcome. i'll talk to them if you like

The best way is to attach yourself with one of the older Smashers there, most likely the tournament organizer. Ask him if he would mind meeting your parents, and possibly having diner with them. Also, make sure your parents take the time to come visit one of the venues when you're going to a tournament so that you can introduce them to the players there. If they are still hesitant, ask them if you could hold a smashfest at your house for a few of the better mannered players. Show them that everyone is normal. =)

Make friends with an older crewmate, who will take you to the tournament and "supervise" you.

what everyone else said. make friends with older players in your area. i start when i was 14/15 also. started going to tournys in my city, at a local comic book store. and slowly made my way to the other cities in the area.
my dad would have to drop me off at tournies and smashfests all the time cuz i wasnt old enough to drive haha. took drivers ed when i was 15, had to wait 6 months to turn 16 to get my license lol. and then was allowed to basically go anywhere in texas, with older crew member.
cept mexico, i had to ask for permission to cross the border. sometimes i wouldn't know i was going to mexico that day, and cross without telling him. he was pretty mad. hahaha. dont leave the country without asking.

Let your parents meet some of the smashers. Bring a few of them over to your house a couple of times so that they see that you'll be safe. Attach yourself to one of the more responsible smashers. The smash community is very friendly and you should have no trouble proving that to them =)
Tell them your going to gamble on chicken fights. Because then sneaking out to play smash won't seem as bad.
Animal Abuse is wrong, Don't do this
-You can do a couple things, have them drop you at the tourney walk in and see that it's safe or whatever parents do. Then have them pick you up as soon as it's over. I also like to make it a habit to call my parents before they call me, it shows responsibility, and maturity
-You can get a family friend or a friend in general who attends tourneys, and get them to take you. Once your parents see that he can be trusted. The smash community is one of the nicest communities in all of gaming.
-OR you can sneak out, which is an option and could work. I sneak out of my house a lot to go to parties or something, but you have to know and list the punishments out before you go. I make a list of punishments and positives in going, at the time the positives usually win, but when I get in trouble at least I knew what I was in for.

Go with someone ur parents know....preferably an older friend. I didn't get to go to my first tournament until i was 17 because i'm asian and my parents expect me to spend my free time studying instead of having fun

I was about to write but everyone wrote the Ideas I though, but you could search the regions threads in swf, the one from where you are, be friend some people from your region in swf, and get an older one or a serious one or get some of them 2 play in your home, that would be the right thing to do.
