about as illegal as paying off the winners

if the host is upfront about it beforehand, there's nothing wrong with making a profit

^agree, if I go through the trouble of finding a venue or putting up my house for a bunch of people who generally have no respect for anything that's not theirs then I have no problem making money for the place to play.

honestly in the smash community, 90% of the time you'll be able to find someone to do it for free

people who 'help' then demand a cut the day after the tournament are being terrible

people who 'help' sometimes end up getting everything dumped on them. maybe they even end up running the whole tournament, while the TO d!cks off and makes a hugh jass profit.

i think that dealing with the politics of getting the room and making sure it's in shape is a bigger headache than simply running a bracket

and of course there are ****ty TOs and ****ty hosts, but oh well

i just realized this is just a general pet peeve thread and not a 'let's fight for change' thread so i don't know why i'm arguing about it, sorry
