I'll answer this from a TO's perspective:

"How many people make it out of pools?"
-The answer is always, 'it depends on how much time we have'

"Can I see the bracket?"
-Do not ask this question if a TO is obviously busy or there are other people in line with more important matters.

"When is my next match?"
-Whenever I call it, have you never been to a ****ing tournament before?

PEOPLE WHO DON'T REPORT THEIR MATCH RESULTS, ****.

when we go to a restaurant and people tip. Waiters don't deserve free money; all they do is get food from the kitchen that someone else made and bring it to you
*warning: rant below*
this just shows how much of a little wierd kid you are

i do agree cooks should make more per hr because their job is harder

but tips is necessary for those who serve the customer
just bc your a nice customer doesn't mean all customers are nice
alot of them are obnoxious and look for ways to get free stuff

although im not a waiter, delivering pizzas i make tips
my coworker once said "wtf do you get a tip for your just driving the pizza to their house"
and some customers don't tip because "theres already a delivery charge" (much like gratuity on the check at restaurants
us drivers put alot of wear and tear on our car, and we find the quickest routes to your house. plus delivering late weekend nights makes us much higher risk of being hit by drunk drivers.
delivery charges range roughly 2.00 depending what company you order from, drivers only recieve 1.00 if that and the company keeps the rest they just give eough to compensate for our gas. it does not compensate for oil changes new tires alignment etc

also, no offense, and i don't mind getting an infraction for this
but black people, also known as african americans, do not tip
i've spoken to waiters and just various people who make an income thru tips
and they all agree, black people don't tip
if you google it you'll find a surprising amount of forums/threads online that state this very true fact, i mean stereotype

Indian people dont tip...only complain
Incoming infraction, probably.

I remember a story a friend of mine attending UMBC told me about this exact fact. Relayed to him through asking about it and a friend of ours who worked at the restaurant.

One of his Indian friends and a lot of their friends decided to get dressed up, rent a limo, and go out to eat. Want to guess where they went?

The ****ing Macaroni Grill. Ten minutes away from their house. In a limo, with rented tux's.

Once they got there, according to our friend who worked there, they acted extremely important and demanded they be seated right away. This was a busy Friday night, and the wait was ~30 minutes. But of course, like almost anything else in this country, if you complain enough you will get it. They were seated and the fun began.

They order a bunch of junk and drinks (Tried to order alcohol but none were over 21, they *****ed endlessly for that). They made a metric ton of substitutions (Which, on a busy night is not an easy thing for a chef to deal with, especially on a busy night), made the waiter come from halfway across the restaurant (By yelling) so he could give them recommendations, etc.

This went on for about two hours; they were one of those groups that stays for a LONG time after they finish, even when the restaurant is super busy (Mind you they still had a limo in the parking lot). Anyway, when the manager finally comes over and tells them they really need the table for other guests, they get obscenely butthurt and start yelling, saying they need a discount, they need free food, etc etc because of the supposed horrible customer service they had. I've been to that Macaroni Grill, it had some of the friendliest service I could imagine. Anyway, they paid their bill (Came out to ~$200), and in the tip margin?

$3. A three dollar tip on a $200+ bill. They then took their ten minute limo ride back home, and I'm guessing got drunk on 7/11 Wine.

Rant over.

you know what i hate

when you're really anxious to eat your food cause you've been starving all day
so you make the foolish mistake of eating it while it's still hot
and it singes all the tastebuds in your mouth so that it's difficult to taste anything
and because of such you can't enjoy your meal the way you wanted to.

**** i love steak taquitos

I don't really get this one. Do you hate confronting the TO, or hate the fact you HAVE to tell them? Seems like the TOs are doing a favor when they separate friends/relatives, but realistically TOs aren't going to know every relationship at a tournament.

Word. You forgot "Who's in my pool?" and "When does singles start?"

i feel the opposite actually; i hate when doubles is over, singles hasn't started, and yet the TO won't either start singles or tell us when it will start, so everyone's stuck in limbo-land

well if there's no reason for singles NOT to start that's understandable. I'm talking about when people go 0-2 in doubles (or whatever they're record in bracket is) and you get the "When is singles going to start?" over and over again, while the doubles bracket is still in full fruition.

When the tourney hosts don't do their jobs as tourney hosts and have other people do it for them but keep all of the venue fee to themselves.

Well at least give me $3 cause I was running the brackets, recording good matches and labeling them and tending to the live stream crowd while you (the host) were playing friendlies the entire time even though i wasnt labeled as a co host to begin with.

honestly in the smash community, 90% of the time you'll be able to find someone to do it for free

people who 'help' then demand a cut the day after the tournament are being terrible

I end up helping run 1/3 of the tournaments I go to and I never ask for free entry.

Also, as for venue fees, you don't need a venue fee unless you have to actually pay someone to use the venue. If you do, you need to make your finances transparent for everyone to see. It may even be illegal for a TO to make a profit off venue fees.

Agree. If you're not paying for your venue, or putting the venue fee to good use (Food, drinks, etc), don't charge.

It's shisty business.
