Was bored so I googled SAT.
Don't know if these practise tests are accurate, but how could one possibly fail a single one of those "problems".
Of course I would totally fail everything else, so yeah... =)

ACT is god tier test and true test of scholastic capability

I was admitted to my university (UGA, among the top twenty or so best public schools in the country, which is pretty damn good) almost solely off of my (relatively) high ACT score of 32. My high school GPA was a (relatively) paltry 3.6.

Like seriously, for UGA's early admissions they have an algorithm and they plug in your standardized test score(s) and your GPA then BAM! they have a number assigned to you and they let in the top -x- percent of applicants. A test score above 30 on the ACT can almost guarantee you admission as long as your GPA isn't below a 3.5 or so

And I don't think test scores matter for the TwitchTV scholarship, but GPA does (that's why I asked -_- )

Ya sat/act matter a lot for college...

Not sure why though, the tests have nothing to do with anything but theyre easy so i guess its good if you have a decent or bad gpa

Ya the math is super easy, almost everyone i know got an 800. But i guess people are different cuz i thought writing was hella lame and got like a 750 i think, so im pretty impressed by varist's 800...

I think writing is easier if u read books but ive only read like 3 books my whole life

The math is weird because if you miss one problem, which is pretty easy to do due to human error, you already go down to like a 780. All of the damn asians inflate the score lol (jk, the problems are just too easy). With the verbal, on the other hand, you can miss 2 questions and still get "perfect". The GRE is like this too. I think the ACT as well but my memory is bit fuzzy there.

tl:dr Standardized tests test arithmetic and not math.

I always just forget some dumb **** and then glaze over when I'm trying to check my answers even if I know how to do the problem and miss like 1-2 problems that way

whereas with the other sections it's harder to like subtract when you mean to add or whatever

I just think that that's a pretty pointless skill to test. Also the verbal SAT section is too much vocab. The GRE just recently fixed this and the ACT dodges it completely.

They tend to be a better indicator of college success than high school GPA

so they suck, but not as much as every other metric of scholastic ability

Oh they're definitely necessary, given the inequality of different high schools/opportunities. But they make a poor measure of intelligence.

they're a great measure of logic and reasoning skills, but should not be compared to IQ tests, because you can study for a great portion of the test and use rules and common sense to help you through the rest.
