An MK without massive gore is basically not MK. That series has always been deeply rooted in shock value.


I've said it before and I'll say it again...

an MK without the blood/gore/fatalities is like a DOA game without girls or boobs.

There's still a little gameplay left, but its just not the same.

but in all seriousness Mortal Kombat began to go down the scale since Armaggedon came out since of it's button reactions, but now that no fatalities won't be shown, then it definetly won't even be a game to even consider buying

All of the MK characters and all of the DC villains will have fatalities. The DC heroes who don't kill that often will have brutalities that will function just like fatalities but don't actually kill the opponent.

Batman should have a Fatality, at least against Joker.

I think this is enough for people to stop complaining about MK/DC.

There will be blood (heh), there will be fatalities... it looks like a quality MK game, and I really don't know why people here are crying so much about it.

We complain because since MK went 3D, the series sucks. Deception was ok, but pretty much they weren't great games. This just furthers itself from what MK was, a no-nonsense fighting game with over-the-top violence. The original MK had no gimmicks, then MK 2 had the friendships which was both welcomed and repelled. Now, they are adding Superman...

To clarify, it doesn't look awful anymore, but it's still such a departure of the franchise that many of us spent our childhood on that it's hard to embrace. I know my first arcade game EVER was Mortal Kombat. When I finally learned how to do fatalities in MK 3 (I think I was 8 or 9 by then), the franchise was such a huge thing. I will give this game a try, but it's hard to be optimistic about ANY crossover titles.

Hey, I'm in the same boat when it comes to MK nostalgia. I had every game and played the crap out of them. They were everything to me, but the industry has changed. You can't have a game like that in this next-gen world we live in. So, we're stuck with 3D games nowadays. So, I played plenty of MK:DA and Deception and I really thought they were cool games. Lots of content and good gameplay; all in all, it stayed true to what made MK good. So, if you have such of a problem with those games and any new 3D game, what could be done to make it meet your standards?

"No-nonsense"? The whole series has been completely silly for a long time, bro. Look at those characters: an annoying-voiced Asian guy who shoot fireballs, a black guy with mech-arms, some guy with a razor-blade sombrero... @_@ The over-the-top violence and fatalities doesn't make it "hardcore", it makes it goofy. And that's not a bad thing, it's just what the game series is about. But, what suddenly makes adding DC characters makes the game "gimmicky" as if it never was. Nobody had a problem with any other crossover game before this one. People would go bat-**** insane if a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was announced. These DC people are very well known characters and the trailer alone shows that the game won't be cartoony or childish. And, furthermore, Batman is way more badass than Scorpion will ever be.

You're right that it's a departure from the old MK games, but that's also kind of the point. Ed Boon said he doesn't want to be like other fighting games and just keep coming out with the same game over and over again.

And btw, Smash Bros. is a crossover title.

Wow, looks playable. Inside, I always thought this would suck ***, but this has raised my hopes that this will be a big breath of fresh air for the series instead of the final nail in the coffin.

Any mixing of the two? ummmm not so much. I never particularly enjoyed Marvel vs. Capcom because it was such a ridiculous combination. I don't know why MK vs. DC will be any different.

Captain Marvel and Liu Kang were confirmed on the Mkast. It was pretty obvious that Liu Kang was going to be in, but Captain Marvel is kind of a surprise. Captain Marvel is a little kid who turns into a super hero by saying "Shazam". I'm not sure exactly what his powers are, but I think he's similar to Superman. They haven't released any pics yet, but he's supposedly really big and towers over the other characters.

I hope they went with the old Liu Kang, and not the zombie Liu Kang from the last 2 games.

No you're not. Lots of DC fans who have never even played Mortal Kombat will buy this just because of the DC characters. That's why this was such a good idea on Midway's part, no matter what anyone says.

Question to all...has anyone here ever looked at the MKs from a fighting engine standpoint? Just wondering.

Anyway, MKvsDC is looking to be a lot more playable as compared to MKD or MKA (My god, the lack of blockstun is bad enough...but add on 50 zillion other broken ****...and it's a nightmare... O_O. I have no clue how I managed to play MKA for an entire year). Blockstun is in, apparently...that's about all we can see that's good. One of the hugest concerns is Subby's seemingly-broken ice counter, though.

Others will be put on soon enough. Looks like GCPD is a stage. am I the only one annoyed by how much Batman rep there is? Batman is one of the greatest DC Heroes, but this is supposed to rep the DC Universe. Hell, 3 of the 5 DC stages are for Batman, and the other 2 are for Superman. I just hope by the end this doesn't turn into Mortal Kombat vs. Justice League: The Animated Series
