How is your HR determined_? Online only or can you build it offline_ Also what boosts HR_? Need more time to destroy this game_

Online only. You level it like experience when you finish quests online. When it gets to a certain level you get an urgent quest to do that after allows you to get to the next quests.

If you have decent gear you'll be able to cruise through online to where you are in story mode. It's basically the same thing.

Lances are pro_ Ditch that sword n board son_ Im still sticking to bowgun though_ Cackle out loudely destroying monsters that have no chance of even getting close_ Sounds like once I get online we have a pretty solid team with the weapon variety we got going_

Yeah I need to play it more, instead of posting on this site all the time.
I've only done 2 offline quests.
PSO I devoted like 1000+ hours into along with my cousin and brothers; still haven't done challenge mode properly, weeeeaaaak.
I still have dreams of red boxes - except Photon Drops. -_-

Heh I used to play PSO so much on the SCHT server, probably would of put in a good 1000 hours + in it as well had like
(cant remember the class) lvl 120
FOmar lvl 80 with 3 heavenly minds and a V101 equipped, luckiest drop I ever had <3

I'm really disappointed MH doesn't have clans and clan speak like PSO did

I really do miss my days of staying up all night playing PSO over vent with friends the crazy **** that happened there..:/ F**k we even had a karaoke night over vent...Win times

i wish i found this thread earlier im was looking for people to play with online. ive been waiting years after playing PSO ep 1 & 2 on GC, i wanted to get my hands on a monster hunter game.lately ive been cracking out on Monster Hunter Tri.other than melee I would play this nonstop.

If you have purchased an NTSC version of the game it's not compatible with PAL versions for online play, which I believe we all have

Australia, although I have got a NTSC version I can play, its just I dont really use it due to I got these guys, but I have got a HR 7 NTSC account, so if you ever feel like just having another char for that then Ill be up for games some time.

I have made almost no progress with this game. Need to beat Barroth to progress online - need to beat Rathian to progress offline. Lots of fun though.

Pretty much finished offline, there are just 3 dual monster quests left (los + lagi, dual diablos, agnaktor + uragaan). I don't see me doing agnaktor + uragaan without high rank stuffs though. Uragaan just takes too bloody long to kill.

Using the lance the most so far, I have the top end of pretty much every LR lance tree atm (though realistically the only two I ever use are tusk+ and gobul+). Armour sets are lagi and agnaktor both with all parts at 30 defence. Also have loc lac for egg quests and chainmail for combining.

I am finding this game retardedly difficult and I don't know why. Also everything takes way too long for no (good) reason.

I tried finding some randoms to beat Barroth with... but it didn't go so well for them. I could probably solo him... but no thank you. I don't care how badly the lance's counterattack ****s him, Barroth is a slob.

What I mean by this post is Sieg please help me beat Barroth. I've only been online by myself a couple of times, but I haven't been able to find good partners. What is the secret to attracting them?

Barroth was a ***** for me too.

I found countering barroth to usually be epic fail. I take the gradual damage from the block and then the counter misses. I just ran between his legs and poked his tail/stomach/legs. Similar strategy to Uragaan/Diablos. Sharq attack will kill him quickly if you're good at aiming your pokes (water does tonnes of damage to muddy body parts, but no damage to clean. The reverse is true for fire). The blue sharpness also means it doesn't bounce as much.

Also lance's shield dash is amazing. Evading doesn't work well against barroth so you need a fairly shield-oriented approach. Shield dash at barroth's attacks and then whack him while he's recovering.



Also, los + lagi down! Los took ~30 mins to take down, a 32 metre lagi (soooo close to gold crown) took 9(!) minutes. <3 charge attack, </3 wind pressure. I tranq'd both but could easily have killed lagi with the time I had left.


@Scott, you mean animations or just the time it takes to kill big monsters? Most animations you can cancel into others. Learning which ones is pretty much just trial and error though.

What you guys finding more effective loot wise_? Capture or Carve_?

It differs. Most of the time I think it's capture, but then I get the ones with Carve where I get a massive rewards screen for.

Don't really mind either way these days.

I was wrong saying counter ****s Barroth earlier. If you have the Guard+ skill then you can take Barroth to pieces after countering his charge, but otherwise (and I can't get guard+ yet) it's practically un-punishable. All counter is good for in the match-up without Guard+ is countering roars. You can't afford to counter his mud moves, and tail swipes seem better to sidestep through.

I discovered the recruitment server earlier, and almost as soon as I made a 'One Star Urgent' room, a bunch of high HR guys came in and ripped Barroth to shreds for me. HR9 now!

As for Sharq Attack, I think I'll have to wait till next month to get those Sharq tickets. The Alluring Dress event doesn't start again till the 16th of June.

I heard that Shield Dash is useful (and can save you lots of stamina?), but I haven't been using it. I'll force myself to try it more. Thanks for the tip.

Heh had some good fun this morning although Im only Hr6 with crap items, I really gotta grind something decent, Im just lazy.

I tell you Wii speak is horrible, I was playing with an old PSO friend of mine from london and we could barely understand each other, and 2 randoms from Australia I had trouble hearing as well, I think Ill use Vent/Skype for communication

Cant wait until the holidays so I can pull all nighters on this game to grind a little...
