Smash Journeyman
Yeah shield dash can save you tonnes of stamina (the dash takes stamina, the block itself depletes reduced stamina - usually zero - BUT if you have low stamina at the time of the block then you take the hit). It ***** most projectiles - shield dash through raths' fireballs/barioth's ice twister thingies/lagi's thunderbolts. Some other things like lagi/agna body slam it also *****. Also lots of attacks which usually deal slight damage when you block them will deal none when you block with a shield dash. Really useful if you have a bunch of temp damage and don't want to lose the hp.
Killing generally nets you more body pieces, while capture gets you charms/rustshards. I got 5 charms and 1 rustshard (all useless, naturally. I'm still using the autogard charm lols. Also MH3, give me the god **** rust lance already. Christ.) from capturing los + lagi. I generally kill (me being a heartless *******) unless it's a capture quest or I'm short on time.
Also, that guy on Barroth+Barioth could have done that so much faster (maybe under 10 mins) if he countered after the triple thrust rather than back hop and punished Barioth's tail swipe correctly (for the record, shield dash in and shield bash --> get stabbing. The tail swipe doesn't hit close in). Though apart from that. it was... pretty flawless play.
Just curious; how have the people with long play times controllers held up? The left-analogue stick mashing worries me a bit.
