Offline? I thought you didn't get the Felyne Chef until after 1* quests... But then again, I haven't played through the offline story in a while haha

I am wondering if i should get the switch axe, or stay with my assassains knife.

I really am bargaining for the Long sword, though.
Is it too much to ask for all?

SnS is great for really aggressive gameplay (check out Gah's guide on the first page), but I love the SA for it's damage capabilities and the side hop.

Stay with your knife. Make an Axe, too. Longswords you'll unlock after you finish Gobul urgent quest (offline). Check MH3 wiki for details and crafting materials.

Edit: ELMN4R is my ID. SAM is my MH3 name. See you guys on sometime!

Yeah, just make all the types of weapons, that's what I did. They're all unique and fun to play. Why miss out on the fun by playing only one weapon? Of course, early on in the game I stuck with two weapons, SA and GS, but over time I gathered the parts to make a lot of weapons and eventually had a lot.

I stuck with SnS for a long time before switching to LS briefly before switching again to SA.

I love SA.

I love upswinging annoying little ****s who don't carry enough potions and complain despite being HR100. I mean, really? Such fun.

At what point are you not a burden online?
The point where you can get through a really difficult hunt without running out of potions, dieing more than once, running out of steaks or hot/cool drinks or whetstones, not forgetting any of the above items and not needing your teammates to give you any. If that makes sense.

I can't seem to beat the mission "Playing with fire."

Any tips?

(My equipment has high defense, my sword has 148 atk)

If memory serves me right, that's Qurupeco. Online or offline?

Use traps, I guess. And bomb it to hell. Hit and roll and hit and roll.

Capturing any monster ends the quest at least 5 to 10 minutes earlier than if you'd wanted to kill it off, so try that, I guess. Once it starts limping, go to where it's sleeping, set a trap underneath and wake it up and tranq it.

I remember I used to have a lot of trouble with Quru when I first started playing, but once you figure it out, he's mad easy to kill.

Things to watch out for:
Claps flints together, lunges forward 2~3 times with explosion
Claps flints together, sings
Spreads wings apart, explosion in front

There are different animations for singing and the clapping explosion, and never do a really laggy move directly in front of an attacking monster even if 90% of his moves are slow. Everytime you get killed ask yourself why you died, did you try to use a potion in an unsafe place? Did you get hit by X attack too much? Weapon not sharp enough, causing bounce causing death? Once you identify why you died, try to make sure that reason never happens again. And repeat for the rest of the game haha

Post specific equipment please. Other than that here's a few tips to beat 'Peco:

I find that the best place to try to position yourself is near his hind legs, not directly in front of him but not directly behind him. Even when he turns towards you and moves around, try to keep yourself in that position as much as possible, as he has only two moves that hit on the sides: The tail sweep and the wind from when he flies back. When He turns towards you he will most likely attack, so rolling towards him is always a good option (if you're in the spot I mentioned earlier). His tripple/ double fire clap is extremely easy to dodge simply by staying at his side and walking around him. He will do a double fire clap then fly back if he is not in rage mode, if he is he will do a tripple fire clap then a "taunt" where he puffs out his chest and screams. Tripple fire clap is extremely punishable. Try bringing traps and sonic bombs. Sonic bombs are especially helpful when 'Peco tries to summon or buff/heal. When you see him calling just chuck one at him to disrupt him and stun him for a second.

Hope that helps a bit. Good luck.

So is story mode lengthy? On Tier *** quests, and it feels like the snake (Laigarcrus(sp)) is the final boss?

Just wondering, I know a lot of the game is online (and I will have a 100% Char, good sets for every weapon, 100MH, all quests, etc ;) )

But I'm just wondering...if theres a lot more story coming, or is ***** it?

Well, if I'm not mistaken, offline goes to like 5* quests. No, Lagiacrus isn't the final boss, hes more like the midway boss :p

After 5* quests there are extra "Urgent quests" you can do, but they aren't important to the story. Once you beat the final boss, story = over. No more story after that, sorry. Not that the story was all that great...

Yeah, that's definitely one of the major drawbacks in the story/game: not really connecting you with anyone beyond text bubbles

Having issues getting online?

Also, started using a bowgun in addition to my other weapons, and I'm having a blast. I mainly enjoy using it on small prey that like to run away a lot though...if Derp would just get on maybe he could teach me how to use it against larger monsters. Could also figure out how for myself, but I dont like dying lol. Anywho, if anyone knows any useful bowgun combinations/armors, I'd be thankful.

I plan to go online, I just want to get better first. But technically you can play with randoms, no?

I love this game, but I don't see how I'm going to exceed 150 hours. (Some people say 800+)

~ Beat the Arena (Not too hard)
~ Beat Village completely (Not too bad)
~ Get great set of armor/decs for each weapon (Can be done)
~ Beat all Online Missions (Maybe that's where the hours are?)

I love the game, I'm just curious as to where the hours go. I can't wait for LS, I won't be a spirit spammer, I just love Faster weapons. (Not SNS)

Well, I am racking up alot of hours on this game bc I enjoy trying to kill monsters as fast as possible, and I am a completionist. For instance, right now I am trying to get all of the awards, which of course is giving me a hard time since some elements of the game are luck based...but I'll still be playing until I get them, and even after. I have some friends who have just received the game, so I help them out as well. The community is pretty cool imo too, since Monster Hunters seem to play the game more than talk about it, unlike Brawl...

(I currently have 625 hours on this game, and I'm still having fun. Maybe I'm just good at milking a game's worth)

I'm a completionist too (Check the link in my sig), so I'll rack up a lot I'm sure. I just don't see where it's all going XD.

My Pokemanz Platinum file is @890, SS is 280. =]

Well Der, what I mean is, out of 800 hours of Pokemon, I was always doing something (Competitive Battling, Battle Tower, Breeding, Trainer Card, Etc) In MHT if you spend:

~20 in Arena?
~35 in single
~80 farming armor?
~100 online getting MH100 maybe? or even 200. I just wondered what you do after that I guess, but then again I've only went online once so I'm probably missing something.

Right now I'm farming armor sets for each weapon. I'm only on *** so they arn't epic sets, but it's better than using Great Jaggi Set for everything.

yeesh, 200 off?

I've got like 250 combined
Yup. After completing story mode, defeating Ceadeus 30+ times to farm for his parts, and making like 900 potions, mega potions, and a couple hundred of every other health/ stat boosting item, traps, and ammo, and fighing random monsters for fun, things add up pretty fast.

Y'know what I never really understood? Why can't you just straight up throw the dung at monsters? Why does it have to be in bomb form?

Well, since it has to sit in your bag until you use it, and you roll to evade alot, it sounds like a good idea...

I've..done somethings in real life.

Long story short: You want it in Bomb Form....

Man, almost done with SnS set. You know, despite my love for fast weapons (<3 Ninjas ;) ), I'm finding LS/GS to be my favs (LS is pretty fastish, but GS XD)

Man this game still rocks! Even after playing for so long lol

Anyone know what the best SnS weapons are in general?
And how much does elemental weaknesses actually affect your damage output?
