Suuwo, If you wanna practice your l cancelling and spacing, just do what JR did....play me. lol. If you miss an l cancel or mess up your spacing, you'll pay for it with a stock. It'll frustrate you and make you get better at it very very fast. Its one of the reasons why JR is so difficult to grab...He's had plenty of practice at me grabbing at him...he's kinda hard to grab in melee too. lol
Sounds good. It's kind of how I got used to dealing with IC's shield.

i just did realize how many times i was pissed at melee when playing you a long time ago jaime.

i almost forgot about my "getting good" phase

although i still have alot to learn

playing you had a majority to do with how i got to where i am today

Mrs. Johnson is legit. I still do more work / read more stuff in Spanish Literature AP LOL.

Nick you have my cube right? I just want to confirm. Not that I really care since I use my wii to play my back-up of melee anyways.

i heard you havent even entered the past couple modesto tournies.

and i asked you to play sc2 with me but you dont even wanna do that cus you dont wanna get owned :(

i figured this mentality carried over from smash and into sc2 and it kind of reflected that

kind of just depressing, i really want you to get good cus your marth seems like its on a breaking point from not so good, into getting really good lol

i have faith in you kieth

sorry if im reading into things too much, i have alot of time on my hands

lol, i've made it into finals the passed 3 tourneys....2 with andre, 1 with bizz. I have a 1 to 2 win/loss ratio though...gotta improve that. lol. At the same time, i have a 1/1 with both bizz and andre...so thats not TOO bad...Who knocked bizz into losers btw?...was it Brandon? or Phil?..

yeah man im not purposely avoiding anything, and actually i did enter the tourney before this last one, placed 3rd or 4th i think. i should have placed one higher but i lost do some ganon because i absolutely know nothing about the matchup, although ive learned a little since then.

but yeah i guess im just not humble enough to be ok with losing as much as i would if i actually tried every single time. its a hard mental block but i guess with enough determination i could probably pass it up. it will be harder than ever now though with even less people in modesto, and even me possibly being the best in modesto? wow that sounds awfully strange.

but i do agree with you jr about me being on the brink of being an ok marth and being recognized and a force to be reckoned with. which is another reason i hope i get to move down there with you because i think me and you playing together a lot would do wonders for my metagame, as well as going to socal tournies, i gotta get that mccain treatment.

i need to have a mentor or something to help me climb over this huge wall i'm at or something lol. but i guess from now on i'll try to be more humble, even if it is artificial; and enter every tournament that i can afford to do so at. maybe we'll see what that does to me for now.

i dont dwell on anything, i just really dont like losing in the first place period. but i know losing is a part of getting better so like i said im gonna start entering more tourneys. if i do go to ownapalooza though i probably cant enter there because i have no money until i get paid next thursday. i'll try to snag a bunch of friendlies though.

Unless Phil played Bizz first round, I think it was someone else. Brandon? I'm sure Andre and Phil played in the second round and Andre sent Phil to losers bracket after that set. Andre's pretty good against marth with his ICs

That's why you lose to people you shouldn't jr. lol. If you actually tried and cared enough, you'd be easily one of the top players on the west coast. You're by far the best player in the FTA, but you hardly show it. lol. Ironically, i've been doing better at tournaments since you've been gone though. haha. 5th at the last couple of cgcs and 1st/2nd at the last 3 modesto tourneys...If you're not here to rep for FTA, and the others aren't stepping up to the plate to rep for us, I'll do it with my swamp monkey. lol

I don't think KFC's mindset is the very best. It kind of seems like a way to john your way out of loses with "he was simply better than I am so...."

That's sometimes the case, but you have to take into account the major mistakes you make and how you handled a certain match-up incorrectly that you could easily improve with just a little bit of experience and practice.

Also wtf @ SNSD's Japanese version of Genie.

you could look at it like that

or you could look at it like i do, and strive to get better to close the gap between me and said players

(been too lazy to do this recently tho)

i think that actually is largely true, for me at least. i notice when i havent played people in a while and ive been practicing at home, and i feel as if ive gotten better or at the very least feel as if ive been playing really well, when i first start playing people i have confidence and i usually do pretty well, and as the day/night goes on and i play more and reality sets in that i havent really improved much my confidence dwindles and i play noticeably worse than the beginning of the day.

maybe when i can start holding my own all day i'll get a perma boost to confidence and it will snowball effect to great heights (not the porn version)

hm yeah

it feels good to have a day of getting off

trying to adapt and learn while under pressure and constantly losing is really hard, it doesnt happen to me often but when i was training my ylink with you guys i was like ugh, i gotta get better. its still a good way to learn though...

I kind of take breaks with random characters because playing fox really grinds up my hands after the 4 hours mark at a smashfest / tournament. I don't really think my mindset changes much unless I start getting bored and playing half-*****.

I don't know if I can really improve that endurance because it feels like it's from repetitive motion and the rapid heating and cooling down of my hands after I stop playing for a while so I have to keep playing a bit with some less technical character or else my hands lock up really bad. Does anything like this happen to anyone else who goes spacies all tournament?

I blame the L and R buttons, I don't get this garbage from playing a game like dj max

yea playing fox for a long time is tolling on the hands............ but only if u play that way lol

idk i usmash a lot and i tend to be very gentle on my controller even when doing shine shffl shield pressure. just the way i handle the controller hehe, some ppl are kinda rough on it like kim or D1

be gentle :) its possible to be mad technical without hitting the stick or l/r too hard

Alright, yeah I could play more defensive and softer on the controller. I guess that might be why I rip my hands apart. I kind of played that way in other games until I got more efficient and started barely tapping the buttons enough to get the inputs in.

I'm kind of used to the noise in melee though, but it's a good thing to learn when it comes to light tapping the l during l-cancels so you don't mess up a tech if you get hit

yea u start l cancelling very lightly when u get used to it, i noticed i barely press L halfway down and it still cancels well

missing l cancels with fox can be so annoying lol, especially on dairs
