I find it quite weird how Uprising has made Sakurai pretty much "adopt" KI from most people's eyes, when he had even claimed that he's not going to work on a sequel to the series after Uprising. So I don't think we should apply the whole "modesty"-thing on him this much: he hasn't really "adopted" the series and is going to be in charge on moving 'em forward in the future. Only provided a very fully-fledged installment even if that a lot way, deviated the actual 2D-games.

After all, the whole project "Sora" never had Kid Icarus at the first place when it was started. (Heck, could have almost become a Star Fox-game akin to Assault.)

So I don't think he's going to go too "modest" on including KI-series, I even suggest to do contrary, because who knows, this might be KI-series' last stand on appearing in anything of a game (unless some Nintendo's subsidiary makes a new sequel to the series.)

Well, I actually agree with that. I can definitely see that happen. But, once again, only time will tell.

In all seriousness though, given that pretty much ALL of Palutena's personality came from Uprising, I hope that she's as much of a fourth wall breaking troll in Smash as she was in the game. It's one of the things I liked most about her~

I think she could be introduced later. Maybe she sends Pit to face whatever threat, but as the story progresses, the foes become too powerful for Pit to handle on his own and Palutena comes to his aid, by fighting alongside him.

I could see Pit doing training by defeating enemies, then eventually does get too hard for him. Then the rest is as what you said. Nothing would make my mind more happier atm than to see Pit and Palutena fighting alongside each other, and close together... and Pit blushing here and there who's actually enjoying Palutena's company. :3

So I finished Uprising finally last night. Such a great game. I do have a couple questions about the plot, but I'll ask them later. That said, Palutena is now on my "Going to be alot less happy with the game if she's not in" list.

There's just no reason not to include her. I want Hades as well, but I'm not going to get greedy. She and Pit are just such a good team. We need them both!!!

I think Palutena's chances are quite strong for Smash Bros, but I think there are some series' that need a rep first before Kid Icarus. *Cough* Metroid *Cough*, but she has a good chance of being in the game overall, if not her, then let it be Magnus.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are a little reluctant to actually say that they support Krystal for fear of being called a pervy furry and the such.

The Kid Icarus wikia sure describes a lot of attacks that she could have. She looks like she'd be pretty different from the rest of the Smash cast.

And add that with long-reaching physical staff attacks, other light attacks, and even a reflector with that shield, and Palutena's good to go. I wonder if she has that temporarily floating capability. She seems to have it during the boss battle, or at least hovering over the ground rather than walk.

You got her providing Pit with grind rails for example, and the famous Glam Blaster that she'd use against the Hewdraw if you take too long to beat it.

Pretty much. And according to her, Gods should not intervene with the humans, when looking back at the first Viridi chapter.
Gotta love that Palutena potential, and hoping she does make it in.

And it's not like the other gods are THAT powerful (except maybe Medusa, Hades and Dyntos), considering that Pit defeats them without much help from Palutena's powers.

I agree. Only a very select range of characters should be excluded based on their standing. For example, I don't think Hades should be in it... because he's not only huge, he's more powerful than, well, any Nintendo character ever. I would still play him if he were in the game, but still... I would be disappointed about how they brought such a character to his knees.

Alright, I'm doing some specials for her, mostly based off my impression of who she is and what she does from her wikia page.

Up B, FEATHER FLIGHT
She begins to levitate freely for the next few seconds, moving slowly but surely in whatever direction is being indicated. While levitating, she can freely use all of her attacks as if she was normally in the air, with Up B disabling the flight.

Neutral B, SUN SPOT
Starts charging a glowing orb above Palutena's head. Once one orb is charged, another forms and starts charging next to it. Up to three orbs can be charged at a time.
When at least one Sun Spot has been formed above her head, pressing Side B again will shoot it in the direction of the nearest enemy.
Sun Spots have a medium speed, do a decent amount of damage, but have low knockback. They are meant mostly to deal damage and interrupt attackers.
Partially charged orbs will disappear when paused, and once paused it cannot be charged again until all orbs have been expended.

Side B, MIRROR SHIELD
Very similar to Pit's Mirror Shield from Brawl, but the shield is pointed in the direction that's indicated. Projectiles that hit it are reflected off in a direction based off of the angle that it is coming from and the angle the shield is pointed, allowing a skilled Palutena player to actually redirect projectiles instead of just reflect them.

Down B, SOLAR RAY
Palutena raises her staff up, leaving a flashing ball of light at the tip of her staff, then she continues combat freely. Over the next three seconds, the orb starts flashing faster and faster. After those seconds run out, a beam of concentrated light is shot down from the heavens towards the targeting orb. Anyone, even Palutena and her allies, who is struck by the beam takes high levels of damage. Unshielded enemies who are close to the beam and facing it when it hits the terrain are stunned and blinded by the radiant blast.

If Palutena aims her Mirror Shield at the point where the beam shoots down, she can actually redirect it, making it an extremely effective way to attack distracted foes at range, especially since most enemies would avoid getting too close to the oncoming blast.

I always felt Hades would be best on the sidelines making fun of the characters. But that is just me.

He could be a trophy for the KI series, like what Brawl did to separate trophies and stickers by game series. For me, I'm focusing on Palutena making it in, and when (if) she does, then the rest I can look at.
