I adore Dedede and his many faces...but I really hope that Jet Hammer animation is cleaned up before release so that the shaft of his hammer (0_o) no longer clips through his sleeve.

Considering that Dedede has a longer reach than the Luma, getting it out of the way likely won't be too much of a problem. But since a new Luma can always be summoned, Dedede may have to resort to forcing the Luma to stay close to Rosalina.

The luma doesn't need to reach further than the hammer it just needs to be in front of rosalina and have separate hurt boxes and hitboxes. As long as it does that dedede can't get in the front door.

What would be amazing is revealing that the Phantom is an Assist Trophy while Dedede throws 2 Waddle Dees (NORMAL ones) at it, one attacked by the Phantom, the other being thrown, with Zelda using Naryu's Love in the background and a Luma watching the Phantom.

The real question is...will Dedede be able to inhale Lumas? I personally think he will.

Forget Dedede, what if Kirby got an ability from both Rosalina and the Luma? His Rosalina ability might have him tossing out Lumas like how he tosses Pikmin when he copies Olimar, the Luma just hits and disappears. And if he copies a Luma, he shoots out star bits.

Dedede can inhale his own minions, but he can't grab them, and kirby can do the same. It'd be a bit of a nerf to both of their inhale moves if they can't do anything to a luma who can in turn charge a smash attack or something against them.

Last I've checked, Kirby and Dedede can't eat the Pikmin at all.

Pikmin don't do anything by themselves, they need to be thrown at you or used by olimar to do damage. Dedede's minions however, do attack even if Dedede is nearby or dead. We really just need to wait and see on this one

That was one of the issues with Brawl actually.

With this Smash, there should be some legitimate surprises when we get the game. Just like how it was with Melee.

Tbh this is still more than I was expecting from Sakurai after hearing his comments about keeping the DOJO updated daily during pre-Brawl.

And as far as characters go this is actually better, the year after the initial Brawl trailer we got all of two confirmations. So I'm not complaining.
