Why are people saying Starfy has no moveset potential? I don't even play the games and I know the dude is oozing with it. The transformations alone make a fantastic movest.

Because he's not about transformation, only about spinning and water powers, that's pretty much how he is. I think it would not be Starfy if he relied on them.

I think that the Assist Trophies will be shared by both versions, as the Starfy and Nintendogs series are portable based and they've been seen on Wii U.

I'm kind of tired of seeing this logic. Whether he celebrates it or not, it would only be respectful to acknowledge a holiday for a group of people he sees as important to the fan base of Smash, and he certainly seems to have already acknowledged it with his happy holiday wishes & rainbow road, not to mention revealing an assist star while another playable star is next to him sounds pretty coincidental for a Christmas update, a holiday highly revolved around stars.

Ummmm... what? This response doesn't make any sense or have anything to do with what I said. What does me pointing out that Sakurai did not put himself out by continuing to work as normal on a day that is not a holiday for him or Japan in general have to do with whether he acknowledged Christmas?

My point was only that getting an update on Christmas was expected and not in itself special. Because Christmas isn't a real holiday in Japan. That doesn't mean he didn't acknowledge Christmas, as he obviously did. I was criticizing the attitude that "you're lucky to get anything from Sakurai on Christmas", as if we should expect Sakurai to take the day off.

Transformations make a character far more work. Starfy isn't worth work equivalent to multiple characters.

I am expecting a Link Between Worlds themed picture similar to the SM3DW themed picture that disconfirmed Toad.
Maybe Toon Link in place of Classic Link, I dunno.

I'm slightly worried that there will be only be a few new Assist Trophies if they are returning characters. I was hoping for a whole bunch of new cast. Not just recycled.

No need to be worried yet. Sure there will be less new ones this time as its not an entirely new thing like it was in Brawl, but assist trophies are way easier to add than full characters. They just show up and do 1 thing, and most of them do something VERY simple.

I'm hoping for a huge selection of assists this time around. Especially from newer Nintendo IPs like W101 where having its own item wouldnt fit as well.

Ahh, my apologies, I took your comment as the updates we got weren't special in the sense that Sakurai prepared them for Christmas, but you meant the update wasn't special in the sense that Sakurai prepared an update on Christmas at all. Just a simple misconception on my part, I'll try to read more carefully next time.

Eh, it's a possibility, but I doubt it. It's way too close to Rosalina.

Then again, Wednesday-Wednesday we've gotten seven pictures related to Rosalina in a row, so maybe he was trying to push her in.... but again, I doubt it supremely. If she isn't revealed tomorrow there's a good chance Zelda can be revealed next week and still promote ALBW.

I concur. Waluigi doesn't even have his own series. But going back to him being released as a 6th Mario character, it would be nice. And at this point I wouldn't be surprised if we did get a 6th character thats completely different...I'd be more surprised if we got a clone -_-

There's a side of me that still wants Waluigi if only because he would be the ultimate troll addition aside from Tingle. If Waluigi was added, the four corners of the Earth would be blanketed by butthurt and, like a thick smog, it would block out the sun as people kill themselves in droves.
