I do agree that they are pretty much forcing her into everything nowadays. I was already butthurt about Rosalina being playable in a Mario canon game before Wario or Waluigi but now she's in freakin' Smash with her first playable canon appearance being less than a month ago. As everyone in saying, her playstyle is brilliant and she'll be loads of fun to play as but I still feel like she cut in line.

This is the cycle of Mario games. I feel like Mario for awhile has been desperately looking for someone 'new' to add to its recurring cast in every game, and for awhile, Bowser Jr. was that... and the yellow and blue Toads seemed to be up and coming... But it seems like they now have decided on Rosalina.

Something that always ticks me off for some reason is in this video at 2:43 Sakurai says: Now, here is a new character, at last the "Long Awaited" villager from animal crossing.
Who in the hell had been long awaiting the villager? Tom Nook maybe, but the villager? I sure hope the rest of the newcomers are picked by popularity, and franchise representation (Little Mac, and Issac for example) and not by who he thinks has been "Long Awaited."

But at this point you're more likely to piss six feet straight up in the air and not get wet than see Waluigi playable in this game. Waluigi's only chance now is if he gets classified as a Wario character because with Toad already down and out and Bowser Jr being trapped in the zone of "lolwhocares", it's super unlikely we'll get six Mario characters, even if 5 are probably in the starting roster from the looks of things.

Even back during Brawl debates, I never got the love of Nook. He's not the series' mascot, I'd dare say K.K.Slider is, and he's not who you play as. He's a relatively older man, judging by AC lore, and I just don't get what made people soo crazy over Nook.
Even back then I thought the Villager made more sense utilizing his/her tools, pitfall seeds, etc.

Nintendo seems to have learned of the characters´s fans and decided to extract that as much as they can.

No please, those 2 toads are like cannon fodder characters, the only reason they are even 3% relevant is they needed to make the Mario games multiplayer and Toads were the only choice. They're like Shy Guys.

I'm pissed off by all of this Rosalina hate, I've loved her character since the first SMG (Without even counting her ridiculously heartwarming backstory) And, to be sincere, she's a much better addition than Bowser Jr. or...Toad? What would Toad's trailer look like? He sure wouldn't be ****ING FLYING AROUND SPACE LIKE A DAMN COMET! And then gracefully landing to look incredibly gorgeous, would he?

if that was the actual size of the roster for smash 4 there would still be some dumbass complaining about a certain character in the daily update picture comments, thinking for some reason sakurai actually reads those comments

I plan to but working 50-60 hours a week on top of going through grad school has pretty much destroyed my free time for the past 5 months. I'll probably be back to Waluigi-ing sometime after work tomorrow.

Afterwards when they were showing Mario Kart, I half expected Kirby to be revealed as a new racer..
Some form of Animal Crossing representative was awaited, but Villager makes more sense to me than Tom Nook. Also Tom Nook can be considered a "villager" since he does live in the players town and such.

They're extremely close to half-way there, aren't they? I don't think it'll work, but, for research, when did this petition start?
That thing won't amount to squat. For all the big talk Reggie is doing, the biggest impact it'll have is on the Mii getting a Reggie face as an alt or something so they can say they listened to fans.
Sakurai isn't going to add a character at this point that will be known by likely less than one percent of the audience for the game, and wanted by even less than that. Not to mention it's solely a western thing.

I'm not sure when it started, but I think it's just straight up ongoing until the game is near release.
Villager was actually a really popular choice pre-Brawl until Sakurai said that he wasn't enough of a fighter for Brawl.
He was just as frequently of a write-in request to Sakurai as Mega Man was.

If it was made in 2011 or 2012, I wouldn't worry about it if it took years to reach the half-way mark. If it started more recently (spring of this year), I'd get a bit worried.
If it was made in the summer, I'd be afraid of the growth.

All of this time waiting for old veterans and newcomers, and we get this ??? I mean, for real though, is she really that interesting ? No. It´s because Nintendo has to shoehorn her into whatever Mario media they can. Don´t get me wrong, i like this character, but i think she just wasn´t deserving of this spot yet. And if the statement that says this Smash Bros will only have 20 characters, then there is only 1 character left for the game.
And it´s absurd that they added her into the game before other characters like Wario, Ganon or Yoshi. And only 4 of the new characters are newcomers.
You know one character who has plenty of smash bros potential and is a bit overdue for an appearence ?
Also, following what N3ON pointed out, we don't exactly know the specifics on how many characters will be in the game. So thinking that there will only be 20 characters is rather odd at this point in time.
