I remember Egg Robo making a cameo in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the kart racing mode as an alt for Rouge...
...That's obscure... And why Rouge of all people, like what the hell. Arglebergle, semantics.

Egg Robo was such a weak enemy in S3&K though. If they really wanted a classic Sonic enemy to strike fear into our heroes, they should have had the floating ball thing with the spikes rotating around it.

Smash Run has a ton of enemies, and some of them are really big, take a lot of hits, and drop tons of stuff. They're kinda like mini-bosses though I think you can farm them (it was hard to tell exactly how enemy respawn mechanics worked in the demo). 5 minutes while you still have to explore and do other stuff is not enough time for real bosses.

Egg Robo was at least the most notable thing found in the demo as a smash run enemy (other than the Rhythm Heaven thing, but Sakurai won't be calling attention to that anytime soon). We're probably just about done if not completely done with further pictures on Smash Run enemies.

Didn't that thing also appear at the beginning of the game, in Mushroom Hill Zone? At least when you're playing as Knuckles.
Not that I recall. It is been a long since I lastly played vanilla Sonic & Knuckles, though, so maybe?

So Smash run probably wouldn't have enemy characters who traditionally appear as bosses? Such as Dr. Robotnik, King. R. Rool, Medusa/Hades, Bowser Jr., Kraid, etc?
No, definitely not.

Yeah. Why wasn't the EggRobo an alt for...ah, I dunno, Eggman?

If they wanted to strike fear into our hearts heroes they'd use Slicers and Shellcrackers.
*shudders*

Eggrobo isn't really Sonic's answer to Mega Man's Metool, that would be more like Motobug or Buzzbomber (or Egg Pawns).
But hey, Sonic content, I'll take it.

Who said this guy would be the only enemy in Smash Run? There might be more...

There are a lot of Sonic enemies that could make into Smash Run. Same for Mega Man and Pac-Man. Though, I wonder if Sakurai will be limiting 3rd party content somehow...

I remember Egg Robo. Good times...until you realize just how long Sonic 3 and Knuckles is. Anywho, I think its certainly possible that we could get more than one Smash Run enemy per third party franchise, especially since Motobugs or Buzz Bombers are certainly more iconic Sonic enemies, and we haven't seen Sniper Joe from Megaman, who I feel is a shoo in.

I'm happy the Eggrobo is being represented in this game. I always liked Sky Sanctuary so I was glad when they chose it for Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) rep in Sonic Generations. Still I hope we get more Sonic representation in smash run.

They should re-use the assets of Big Arms from Sonic Generations 3DS and make it a boss in Smash Run or something.

Eggrobo replaced Robotnik in all of Knuckles' boss fights. I think it had to do with Robotnik tricking Knuckles; Eggrobo would do all of Robotnik's dirty work, while Robotnik kept telling Knuckles Sonic was the bad guy.

Saying it'll appear as a guest character in Smash Run makes me feel Sakurai is going to hold back a bit on 3rd party representation. Though I guess it could mean nothing as well haha. Anyway, an OK pic for today.

Dear everyone who didn't know who this trophy was.

You're dead to me.

Sonic 1, 2, 3 and 3&K are my entire childhood. Every song, every enemy, every level... my gosh. When Sonic appeared in Brawl I lost it... look how far we've come.

Including this, one villain has done so much to me, and inspired so many memories. This is why Smash is great. Not the mechanics and competitive scene.

It's going to be interesting to see what all comes up with the pics o' le day. We're about three months out until the Japanese release and there's still a ton of stages that haven't been covered yet. Character wise, if the gaps between the Diddy and the Direct were any indication, will probably be around 40 days so I'm not expecting someone new popping up until late July. Until something genuinely new comes up, it's going to be hard for me to retain my interest in the pics erf der deh.

THIS, haha.

Ah, Eggrobo...

I remember when at the end of Sonic & Knuckles
this guy pops up from the scrap remains of Death Egg, and back then I thought it was Dr.Robotnik who had become so badly injured, he had to roboticize himself to survive.

It was only later when I saw him in Sonic R again when I knew this hadn't been the case. XD

Anyway, about time for a classic character to show up as a trophy. Thank you, Sakurai!

Updated! All of these baddies appearing in Smash Run is really making me excited for the 3DS version. I kinda wish Smash Run was put into Smash Bros for WiiU as well, since that's gonna be my main one.

We still don't know all the Wii U features, and I'm betting there's something huge still to come...

I wouldn't hope for an unique mode like Smash Run for the Wii U version. The appeal of this version is being on a console with HD graphics and blahs.

I expect it to have classic and adventure modes as usual, but that is about it.

I disagree. It would be a silly move by Nintendo to spend an extra 3+ months on the game and offer less than the 3DS version. I know the HD graphics are a big selling point, but it still seems ridiculous.

We already know it has more tracks for each stage, so I would guess a lot of the content will be bumped up like that. More trophies, stickers, stages (especially retro stages), etc.

I do think a Wii U exclusive game mode is still fairly likely though as it being the first game to use Amiibo (before the 3DS gets an adapter) wouldn't be a huge selling point.

But Nintendo are trying to sell and market this game. They can hardly say 'Buy this game! There's more music and it's in HD!'

I agree the amiibo's function will be included, but I still am certain the Wii U version will have exclusive modes, plural.

Sonic enemy? Heck yeah!

Let MaskO' tell you all a little story. Way back when, I was playing SE when I suddenly had a thought. My brother had recently gotten into Castlevania, and I was interested as well. Now, SE has it's flaws and all, but the concept was cool. So I thought; Why not have a Smash Bros mode where you run around collecing loot in a constantly changing arena? I thought it would never happen... but then Smash Run comes along... and oh boy, did I get hyped. My dream Smash mode had come true.

So now, every time I see a new enemy for the SR mode, I get a little more excited for this game... which, I assure you, will be most likely be my favorite Smash Bros game, right next to 64.

Smash Run looks pretty cool. I always liked the sort of challenges where enemies are constantly after you and you must survive. When said enemies come from many different Nintendo games (plus Mega Man, Sonic and Namco arcade games), it becomes amazing. Run the gauntlet and collect loot! It's like plundering an enemy base...

I actually like how they brought back some SSE enemies.

Hope we have boss fights on the challenge doors. And let the bosses be varied as the enemies. Some could return from previous Smash games like Master Hand, Crazy Hand, Porky, Galleom or Petey Piranha, but there could also be more bosses like Eggman who could also have several different battles with his many robots, Underworld bosses like Twinbellows or Pandora from Kid Icarus, dragons or foes like Ashnard or Black Knight from Fire Emblem, Zelda bosses that are so many, Bowser Jr. on the Koopa Clown Car...

There are lots of possibilities for bosses that would be one hell of a challenge on a Boss Rush mode like Brawl.
