I don't know, it's just weird that we received word from multiple isolated sources, including one who didn't even know who Chunky Kong was.

I really don't think Sakurai is going to go out of his way to make a surprise reveal with WR and say "JK!" just like ZSS. All the newcomers so far have had no prior hints whatsoever prior to reveal. (Cept maybe Greninja and the substitute on the chair)

Yeah, Phosphora was shown as a trophy, but is now an assist apparantly so Wonder Red is probably an assist too. I'm not sure exactly first party this second party that but why deal with any of those legal shenanigans if you're not ganna take advantage of him? Wonder Red's probably an assist trophy. Definitely not a character though.
