Well, from what I've heard and seen of spoilers (note: I think it's shown somewhat early in the game, but if you are trying to be spoiler free I'd be cautious about it)
Micaiah is a branded, so she ages much slower than normal humans, so it's possible she looked the same she did during PoR as she does in RD

Though Smash isn't really known for it's accuracy and sense, so I wouldn't think it'd trouble Sakurai too much to include characters from the same world yet from different times. Sort of like having both Link and Young Link.
Dang, looks like THAT argument was sufficiently blown out of the water...

Perhaps Miciaiah's chances are now better than I gave her credit.

I don't think that they'll have more than one playable FE character from the same game(s). I think that Marth will return, and if there are more than 2 FE characters the 3rd one will be from a completely different game.

I say that based on the fact that Castle Siege was designed to represent all FE games, and not just one.
I see what your saying Freeman, but I don't see why having one stage designed to represent multiple games necessarily means that playable characters from multiple games will appear as well. It's entirely possible that we could see playable characters exclusively from the Telius branch of the series while the rest of the series is represented in Assist Trophy form.

Marth is my main character in Melee.
I close my eyes and envision air-juggling people to spikes, or wavedashing onto the edge. I've gotten better with him than with any other character, and I know there are many many people like me. (And Ike will not be a suitable replacement for Marth- I can already tell he is very different.)

That being said, I hope Marth will not return,
so that a slot on the character roster can be given to someone fresh. It is a new game and these should feel like new times.

I am glad that Lyndis was deconfirmed today: it is one less competitor Micaiah will have to battle to secure the spot for her own. I want Micaiah as a character more than any one else on my list.

[in full support, neoREgen]
I agree with you neoREgen. Brawl is not Melee 2.0, it's an all new game so why have out dated characters like Marth and Roy taking up valuable development time? Furthermore, Fire Emblem is now internationally popular - so why have reprentatives from Japanese only games?

I think that the fact that Marth (the so called "face of Fire Emblem") is MIA while Ike was revealed first suggests that Sakurai is taking a new approach to the series, opting for more recent and universally popular characters over the outdated Japnese only Fire Emblems. That bodes poorly for Marth and Roy, but it's great news for the likes of Miciaiah and the Black Knight.

Ike's appearance wouldn't matter compared to Macaiah because Macaiah is a branded. Branded people are half laguz so they age slower at some point, though they still live no where near as long as true laguz.

Spoiler to support this:
Soren, who is also a branded, stated that he noticed he stopped showing signs of aging at a certain age.

What this is saying is Macaiah could have looked the same way she did after Ashnard was defeated by Ike till three years later in Radiant Dawn.

I don't think Micaiah or the Black Knight will stand to the proof of time, unlike Marth. The novelty value tends to wear off quickly, and even more with a minor villain and a sequel sidekick.

It would be a waste for a series with 4 international to be recluded in just one game for playable characters. Path of Radiance isn't the whole franchise. But I think Sakurai knows about this already...

We still have the music of the Castle, which may be "whatever castle" for the solely reason to have music from all the series, not just... Tellius, which isn't that catchy for a fighting game.

Im pretty confident Marth will return, seeing as how the Brawl Fire Emblem symbol is still Falchion (Marth's sword).

The thing is, we don't have many worlds to draw from if Sakurai wants to avoid (albeit not completely shut out) Japan only characters. Marth is all right, because it's too late to turn back. Everyone has seen him so he will hardly be causing any harm than he did originally. But other than that, all there is the GBA games and Tellius. We also want to aim for Lords who have the most potential, character and recognition. So that leaves us with very few options.

Eliwood, I think by almost any Fire Emblem veteran's preference, is a complete no. Lyn is already an AT, and it wouldn't make much sense to put in Hector before Eliwood. Especially considering Ike already has the brutal fighting style.

Eirika is okay with me, but no one else wants her in and FE8 is disregarded because of how easy it is mid game. So I don't see her getting in unless Sakurai likes her enough. Ephraim is recognized for his immense power and the fact he has a lance, but like Eirika he wouldn't get in unless Sakurai recognizes him.

That leaves us with Tellius. Soren is all right since he's an important character with a deep story, but there isn't a lot of demand for him and Sakurai would much rather put in Macaiah for a caster. Mia is kind of random for being on the poll. I don't think Sakurai would put her in before Marth.

Not every lord dies down that much. Ike took the spot as my favourite lord since 2005 and hasn't phased the littlest bit. I hear how well received Macaiah is in, but I really don't spend enough time on Japanese Fire Emblem communities so I won't judge that until Radiant Dawn is released. Though Macaiah is a good candidate regardless. The better of the two caster lords, a fresh character everyone can recognize and would just in general be far different than Ike, Marth or Black Knight.

I definately wouldn't mind an Ike, Marth, Macaiah line up.

Im pretty confident Marth will return, seeing as how the Brawl Fire Emblem symbol is still Falchion (Marth's sword).
The thing is, the Falcion isn't the only sword that looks like that. Many have had the same appearance. That and the emblem is rather monocrome. I mean, why use a sword to represent the series when you can use a fancier looking sword?

For example?
A few of the earlier silver swords (which have now taken a different look) or the rune sword come to mind right off the bat. Not like I'm ready to go look at every single sword sprite from every game, so you'll have to take my word. :p

Most legendary swords in the series are redesigns of the Falcion: Tyrfing and The Sword of Seals, for example.

Since I found that while making movesets for characters is pointless in my opinion, it pleases the fans and brings in more supporters. Perhaps I'll make one for Macaiah tomorrow.

Yea, it's really hard to find stuff to make Micaiah a moveset. All I have is the list of spells from the GBA games and some info on them (courtesy of GameFAQs)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Light-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Light Magic is a high accuracy, low attack power magic. It also has a trend of
ever-increasing critical hit rates. Light Magic also suffers from being
abnormally heavy, heavier than Anima Magic yet still weak in power. Light Magic
beats Dark Magic in the magic triangle and gains 1 attack and 15 hit rate when
facing Dark Magic. Light Magic loses to Anima Magic in the magic triangle and
loses 1 attack and 15 hit rate when facing Anima Magic. For the first big chunk
of the game, Lucius will be your only Light Magic user. Serra will gain the
ability to use Light Magic upon promotion (which may take a while, depending on
whether or not you abuse arenas). Renault is your last Light Magic user but you
only get him in the second to last chapter so he's really just pointless and
crappy.

Lightning
Usage-35
Might-4
Accuracy-95
Critical-5
Weight-6
Skill Level-E
Range-1 to 2
Price-630 G

Lightning is your secret weapon against all of those Shamans the Black Fang
throws at you. You will definitely be buying a lot of Lightning because of the
low usage and high speed of Light Magic users.

Shine
Usage-30
Might-6
Accuracy-90
Critical-8
Weight-8
Skill Level-D
Range-1 to 2
Price-900 G

Shine is definitely used much less than its Anima Magic equivalent, Thunder,
because it really doesn't show much improvement over the original. Also, it's
much less common in shops and when it is available, most people are too lazy to
spend money on it.

Divine
Usage-25
Might-8
Accuracy-85
Critical-10
Weight-12
Skill Level-C
Range-1 to 2
Price-2500 G

Once again, Divine fails to show much improvement over its predecessor and is
available only in one shop near the end of the game at a high price (although
arena-abusers shouldn't have a problem with money). If you like Light Magic
users and you're still using them, you may buy a few copies of this but
otherwise, it's not worth your time.

Purge
Usage-5
Might-10
Accuracy-75
Critical-5
Weight-20
Skill Level-B
Range-3 to 10
Price-3000 G

Long range magic has never been to my liking. I hate it because you loose a ton
of speed and accuracy from using it. Purge is no different and you'll hardly
ever use it because there's only one obtainable copy in the game that only drops
if you kill a certain boss fast enough in hard mode.

Aura
Usage-20
Might-12
Accuracy-85
Critical-15
Weight-15
Skill Level-A
Range-1 to 2
Price-8000 G

You're not going to get much use out of this before you get Luce (although more
use than you did for Fimbulvetr). Also, like Fimbulvetr, it fails to impress.
Use it if you like. It doesn't really matter.

Luce
Usage-25
Might-16
Accuracy-95
Critical-25
Weight-16
Skill Level-S
Range-1 to 2
Price-N/A

Dropped by the Kenneth morph in the final chapter, Luce is the best Light Magic
spell in the game. 25 Critical will get you far and 95 hit rate will ensure a
hit for this awesome spell. There isn't much else to say about it. Don't drop
it. Luce means ‘Light’ in Latin.

Aureola
Usage-20
Might-15
Accuracy-90
Critical-5
Weight-14
Skill Level-S
Range-1 to 2
Price-N/A

Other-Gives +5 to Magic Defense. Effective against Dragons.

This spell book also comes with Athos when he joins you in the final chapter
and also has a lack luster performance. It is inferior to Luce but it will help
you against the Dragon like the other Divine General Weapons. Also note that it
is S-level instead of Prf. That means you can get Lucius or Serra to use it if
you want. Aureola was wielded by the priest St. Elimine during the Scouring. St.
Elimine went on to found Etruria and the Elimine Church after defeating the
dragons.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are the ones from Path of Radiance.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Light Magic Durab. Grade Mt Hit Crit Wt Rng Price

Light 40 D 2 80 0 4 1-2 800
Shine 30 C 4 75 0 6 1-2 2100
Purge 5 B 10 70 0 8 3-10 1000
Nosferatu 20 A 7 70 0 12 1-2 3000
Rexaura 20 S 12 85 5 10 1-2 ----
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Go nuts. Or at least try.

Huh? Making a moveset for Macaiah is easy. I just haven't made one because I always have that feeling in the back of my mind that it's silly and needless. You can find everything on Serenes Forest.

Why do I have the feeling that alot of the previous Lyn supporter come for Micaiah for comfort?
Well, I dunno about "comfort", but, given my FE preferences went Lyndis -> Micaiah -> Ephraim, and Lyndis's recent deconfirmation (:(), you can count me as a new supporter if you wish. Where do I get the badge? :p

I wouldn't put it past some of us crying over Lyn's death to come here for comfort close to Micaiah's bosom.

And by "some of us" I mean myself.

Your movesets are very well done. Creative and seem to bring the character alive (For example your Black Knight moveset, it made me dislike him less because of the quality of moveset options that you incorporated into it).

I would love to see what a well done Micaiah moveset would be like.

Just to point a minor detail here in Castle Siege:

The soldiers' armors look like they were designed after Begnion's.

I totally support this, although I'm offended about what you said towards Zelda...

What chances does she have?

We're not totally sure. Some say her chances have lower because:

a) Path of Radiance Ike was chosen instead of Radiant Dawn Ike.

b) Zelda is still a magic user with no signs of her using her rapier (which I personally think is the dumbest reason not to add her.)

What gives her a chance are that:

a) she's the main character of the newest game and has a very important role. *possible spoilers ahead*
I read around that Micaiah is the true apostle to the goddess Yune, not Sanaki. I also read she's Sanaki's older sister, but I don't know how true any of this is.

b) castle siege is a Fire Emblem stage that represents the whole series as a whole, thus not limiting it to just Path of Radiance.

c) her appearance could be used to advertise Radiant Dawn for the rest of the world, just like Roy's appearance in Melee was.

The only thing that I think holds her back is the fact the game is very recent. But anything could happen (I had doubts that no 4th Gen Pokemon would appear in Brawl, but Munchlax proved me wrong).

Like I said earlier in this topic, Soren revealed that the branded slow down in aging. Macaiah is a branded (Laguz blood.). What this means is when Ashnard was defeated in the year 646, three years later Macaiah would look very well the same as she did then. Meaning she can be in the same game as end-game Ike without seeming weird for not looking younger.

I don't know how good Micaiah's(or anyone else from FE10 for that matter) chances are. Since the model for Brawl Ike is FE9 Ike as opposed to FE10 Ike, it makes me think that they aren't planning to represent FE10 in any way.

EDIT:Never mind, somebody just said that.

It's not really a spoiler though. It's revealed too early in the game, and it's the other reason Macaiah is being chased. (The other being she's part of the Dawn Brigade.)

Ike has his ranger suit in Brawl because is his official suit in most media related to Path of Radiance, and he was the absolute star of that game, were Ike was amazingly developed from a nobody to the general of the liberation army. Ike is already awesome in Radiant Dawn, he doesn't have any remarkeable development.

As Smash doesn't search continuity, Micaiah could appear from Radiant Dawn, as Zelda could wear her Ocarina of Time clothes. Simply, her Twilight Princess look was the most nice and detailed available.

Is the same. When people think of Ike, they think in FE9, the inexpert and young Ike who went through a lot and became stronger little by little.

Hmm... I forgot what was the strongest light magic in FE...
From the Radiant Dawn listing...

Judgement, with 50 Mt is the strongest, but only Ashera can use it.
Rexaura has 12 Mt, provides 3 Def and anyone can use it.
Kuraidiredo has 11 Mt, but only Sephiran can use it.
Seini has 8 Mt, and only Macaiah can use it.
Nosferatu only has 6 Mt and it drains the targets HP.
Valaura has 8 Mt but it poisons.

Hmm the strongest Light magic.

The strongest light magic(from what I've seen) is Julia's Narga tome from FE4. it's MT is 30 and it adds 20 points to Skill, Speed, Defense, and Magic Defense. It's the best Weapon in FE4

-Knight

EDIT: I think Narga may even have given her a 20 point boost in Magic as well; I don't really remember if it does or not. I know I'm right about the other effects though.
