match 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KM7FCFAdl78

match 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbtizalhikc

a few wifi matches vs his ike, connection was ok so its pretty legit for the most part. id like to have offline matches of me but i don't really like the idea of bringing my laptop to a tourny.

i feel like i tried to play a little TOO safe in these matches, i spaced a little too far away from him sometimes and so i couldnt get in to punish as often as i would have liked.

anyway, tell me what you think and critique if you want

You luck *******!!!!!

Wish I could play NEO. Some good stuff. But seriously, why did it have to be WiFi? Oh man in irl this would have been the **** son.

2:23 second vid that was sick

You had some pretty bad moments where you missed with the DS completely, but 3:47 in second vid showed you knew what you were doing.

Good play while hanging on the edge, and awesome use of nair.

You guys both had some awkward moments especially with shielding, but a lot of this is due to wifi and lag so ......

Yeah good matches

Also 4:57 second match when Ike hits the counter with u-smash he slides backwards a bit? 0.o

Good stuff guys. I'm not going to critique really, cause I know it's WiFi. Just questioning your lack of shield breaker as an offensive move 2nd? And your lack of counter Neo?

And Neo, I praise your Godly spacing.

Yeah we did have a few random lag spikes and we would get hit by things we normally wouldnt, i just threw them up here because i know people wanted to see my marth.

pierce:

i don't really use shield breaker that often. maybe once or twice a game

Some odd lag screwups, rather obvious times, so yeah. Otherwise, nice Marth. Nice use of dtilt, fair, exc to wall. Im suprised you were even able to space at all on wifi, my connection is usually completely unplayable. Also nice Ike Neo, looks a ton better then one of my friends, who I thought was good.

i love that you use that upb so effectively. if your gonna roll dodge then roll dodge away from ike. never roll dodge behind him since he can get you with mutiple things. also use that counter a lot. ike moves are slow and easy to see coming so using the counter gives an even more advantage to marth's matchup against ike.

Actually, tbch, I think he spammed UpB a little TOO much . . .

But, in the end, it payed off more than it hurt him, so it's all good. Very solid, the both of you. I can tell even off WiFi.

I don't know if i used it too much, but more at the wrong times. It's definitely something you can use A LOT if you don't make stupid mistakes with it like i did.

QFT. I think you were trying to get lucky with a hit to counter a grab, but that's a bad idea, since grab comes out roughtly frame 6, and your reaction time is roughly 12 frames. At point blank range, your best option is to roll backward, or shield drop to run backward, to reverse DB outta dash (make sure to space).

While my Ike isn't amazing and I shouldn't be one to criticize NEO, I think you used Up-Smash too much. Marth is really light and Up-Smash is probably your most reliable kill move for him (Up-Air too but that's a bit harder to land). You might want to consider reserving that move until he is in his upper 80's.

Where is Neo from? If lag was affecting you. I still have to say Kirk has a better Ike. When I played him, there was like no lag and, 2ndSteel, you and I are both in NJ so if you want a good Ike challenge hit up Kirk.

I'm not saying Neo's Ike was bad, but Kirk's is godly.

In the first match, the shield breaker immediately to counter was nice. I wish I played as patient as you.

I'm bored so i'm going to critique myself

(1st vid)

0:14, may have been able to hug the ledge here, but instead decided to play it safe and set up my ledge traps.

0:55, should have been obvious to me he would air dodge here, shouldn't have fsmashed and instead dash to grab or dash to dancing blade to get him off the stage again

1:05, he predicts my up b and am punished

1:34, was trying to set up a wall here but his fair will beat my dtilt, ftilt would have been a better option to keep him out

1:44, slow reaction on the edge hog, or i could have simply countered while still on stage.

1:52, up b would have worked fine here, unfortunately i didnt manage to reverse it and completely whiffed, thus losing a stock

2:00, just want those who care to notice here.. i set up my wall with multiple aerials. Brick walls are incredibly important to the brawl meta game. Don't let your opponent get past your sword

2:39, i tech right into his jab combo, should have been less aggressive and backed away to reset my spacing

3:01, can't remember why i even did this up b, either way i got punished

3:19, ike's ftilt is punishable, but instead i opted to dash away out of his range instead of rushing him with dancing blade

3:22, far too risky up b as we both had our shields up. either a shield grab or roll away would have worked much better.

4:07, messed up my dancing blade completely here, should have been an easy punish

4:09, the up b hits but it didn't sweet spot, i lose a stock

4:19, was a little too close to dtilt, should have rolled away/dashed away and reset myself

4:34, ike's up smashes are tasty. obvious counter situation here, or at least wait for the up smash and use a nair get up

4:44, tried a very risky dancing blade > up b set up, didn't work and i end up above Ike which is a bad spot to be. i'm not able to get on the ground safely and i lose my last stock.

Neo used a lot of fairs to set up walls in this match, i think if i spaced myself a little closer to him i would have been able to punish a few of them. Sometimes i think i was afraid to approach and instead just hung back and played patiently.. if i don't approach i give my opponent many more options while mine are limited. Not saying i should go crazy aggressive, that's bad. Also not saying patience is a bad thing, it's great and should be used even when approaching. Whenever you approach always be intelligent about it.

I thought spacing was amazing on both parts. Great matches to watch. I look forward to seeing more from you and Neo.

Now this is how matches should be critiqued. Thorough and insightful.

the connect is noticeably bad since you're not reacting to attacks that are otherwise easy to defend.

your style looks pretty solid.
