Other than the earthquake, the last thing we need is for Sakurai to be injured. I would imagine he's always heavily guarded tho. Haha Dude is like what Tony Stark is to Iron Man.
Sakurai somehow looks younger every time I see him... Over the span of the next few consoles, he'll be a teenager again ready for another 40 years of Smash development even after most of us here are likely going to be dead ourselves or on seniors pay, lol.

Jokes aside, I hope everything is okay... I've been hearing of people still missing from the mess and destruction. What saddens me is that people are actually sending hateful messages to Nintendo about the delay; it's beyond me how people's priorities can be so far up their own arses.

As far as I'm aware Sakurai wouldn't be on Hokkaido-- most of Nintendo's offices are around Kyoto, which wasn't really affected by the quake. However I do think that the division of Nintendo that makes Mario Party games was closer to the epicenter.

Japan is a big country made up of several islands, just because one part of Japan is hit by earthquake doesn't mean the entire island is. Some people need to open up google maps and realize how large Japan actually is, lol.

Tbh I think it's fair to think that they were waiting for things to get better, specially the power being restored. Tomorrow is the first reasonable day we can start waiting on the possible announcement of the direct date… hopefully… they are still running against time with the whole famitsu thing going on next week after all.

I absolutely understand Nintendo's decision to delay the direct. Yes, one could argue that they just had to press a button to launch it, but
talking about fun games while a natural catastrophy hit the country just doesn't seem like a Nintendo thing to do.
They have always been very respectful and "traditional" in that sense.

Also, even though most of Nintendo is in Kyoto, I see nobody acknowledging the fact that plenty of Nintendo staff members possibly have family and friends living in the affected areas. Just something to consider before calling the Big N out as "lazy delayers", as so many people just love to do, unfortunately

I just feel bad for everyone involved. It looks like they've managed to keep most everything under wraps still, but it sucks when other companies refuse to wait respectfully with Nintendo and feel like they have to announce what they were going to announce.

I hope we get to see the Direct before Famitsu leaks it. I don't want to find out that Skull Kid is in through a magazine leak.

The direct is going to be on September 13th, the Splatoon 2 datamine pretty much confirms this.

I'm with you about hoping to find out through the Direct rather than leaks. It's honestly giving me anxiety this wait.

Of course my anxiety is meaningless compared to the tragedy. I do hope damage was kept to a minimum and people are recovering well.

I'm all for the delay, but it'd be nice to get an update on the date tbh. Quick tweet the new date or update the scenario, and call it a day.

Woops wrong spot.

Uhh, Skull Kid is awesome, and I think coming from a represented franchise is beneficial to his chance.

I still don't think we're getting any characters that would require a stage, and given how many stages there are. I think that eliminates pretty much any character from unrepresented franchises.
I disagree. That would give us two unrepped franchises added to this Smash and that just doesn't seem likely to me. Even with a smaller roster of newcomers; that's laughably small compared to any Smash game.

Melee only introduced 3, and two of them were old school throwbacks.

Does anyone have any really great MM fan albums besides Time's End for me to listen to? As great as those two are, I've been listening to them a little too much lately...

I hope LeakyPandy's "leak" of Skull Kid being only a boss is proven false.
I’m not sure why people believe LeakyPandy; as far as I know he’s only ever gotten a direct date correct, and not even the content in it. Usually unreliable iirc.

yeah i dont get it either, of all the possible top leakers to be half believable, he is not one of them nor even close. I ignored it entirely because it's stupid to think he will be a boss anyways

People apparently give them credibility for releasing inside info about Bandai-Namco business. Even that had some flaws though, like predicting Ace Combat 7 would get a release date at E3, which I don’t believe happened.

Ace Combat 7

-VR feature greatly interfered with mission and enemy design -Development was roadblocked most of the first half of 2017 -SCE invested in development (we do not know if financially, in active work or both) -Can not be delayed any longer, blowout + release date at E3

Not sure whether anything else in this tweet is true or false. I’ve also not been able to personally verify a lot of their other leaks. Well, almost any of them, really. Seems like a lot of serious, detailed info that can’t be confirmed or gets it completely wrong.

EDIT: Also slightly suspicious, Project Lighthouse (an Ace Combat fan community) messaged LeakyPandy requesting for a source on this news, and LP said they’d message them. I have been unable to find any Project Lighthouse tweets on LeakyPandy’s leaks - and you’d think they would be very noteworthy if LP had good evidence to back up their claims.

And does it strike anyone as weird they didn’t leak the date of September’s Direct before it was announced? It strikes me as weird, since that is apparently what they do.

Hey everyone, I'm new here, and I'd like to introduce myself. I am a big supporter of Skull Kid joining Smash. Majora's Mask is in my top five favorite video games of all time.

If he is a playable character, I've been imagining what his reveal trailer might look like. I'm imagining Kirby and a couple other characters walking warily through dark woods (which turns out to be the Lost Woods). They hear the iconic creepy laughter, and it goes from there.

Anyway, I think Skull Kid will be playable, probably just because of my bias, but I am hopeful nonetheless.

Cheers!

Welcome! I know I'm not a big member of this thread, but I do poke around a lot to see what everyone else is saying, so I thought I'd come out of the woodwork and give you a greeting. May Skull Kid be promoted to his rightful place in the Smash pantheon.

I, too, have been thinking about what a potential Skull Kid reveal could look like. Despite telling myself that I wouldn't entertain the thought, I've mostly been thinking of ways to cram as many characters into a single reveal trailer, haha. Of course, the idea I've seen bounced around the most is the "Sun, Moon, & Stars" reveal where SK shares a trailer with Isaac and Geno.

There's also the idea of Skull Kid/Impa, where Zelda and Link are walking through a forest, then *BAM* creepy Skull Kid reveal, and at the end, Impa reveals herself and counters SK's attack on the princess, in true ninja retainer fashion.

I also thought it'd be cool if there was a "villain" reveal, with Black Knight (as an Echo of Ike), Shadow (as an Echo of Sonic [I know he's not technically a villain, but whatever]), and the grand finale: Skull Kid as the unique newcomer of the trailer. Neither Fire Emblem nor Sonic have had a villain rep up to this point, so it'd be cool to see Ike and Sonic team up with Young Link to take out their rivals.

For some reason, Skull Kid is considered a "bandwagon character" which I don't really get honestly since Skull Kid is a veteran fan request. The loz leaks only just sparked hope for the character, realized fans rightfully returning to support the character and basically the only hype worth Zelda newcomer left to support.

I also think it would be cool/possible that there was a Sun and Moon connection in the same trailer. If Geno is playable I think he'd be revealed at a later time. I think a Skull Kid, Isaac, and Geno reveal in the same trailer would be too much, and Nintendo would want to separate Geno in a different reveal. This thinking is purely based on marketing logic.

But I think Skull Kid and Isaac could be revealed in the same trailer as a sun/moon thing. Some characters could encounter Skull Kid in the Lost Woods, then after a short confrontation, Isaac could show up with Earth rending abilities.

Yeah, I've always thought that Geno would always be one of, if not the last character(s) announced, considering he's such an out-there third-party request who has defied expectations and remained relevant in Smash speculation all this time. I would say he's more than warranted his own special section of a Smash Direct dedicated to him. (Not to mention, three unique newcomers in a single reveal trailer is unprecedented).

I'm mostly leaning towards the SK/Impa reveal. If we're getting a multi-character reveal, that one seems the most realistic, in my opinion. I'd love to be proven wrong, though, haha.

Yeah I'd like an Impa echo too, but I feel that's a long shot.

As long as we get Skull Kid I'll be content with the Zelda representation in general. Impa would be more of a bonus, but not required.

So guy's I'm curious: Once Skull Kid gets in; what villain are you planning to throw your support behind, if any?

If Skull Kid gets in, the only villains I want at this point are Echoes, and they'd just be cake. (Black Shadow, Black Knight) and I'm not as invested in them as I would be SK himself.

I already got Ridley and K. Rool, so after Skull Kid I really can't ask for much more. I'd love to see Claus though, as an echo of Lucas. Even if Ninten is likelier. Black Shadow if it meant we could get a real ****ing Ganon but obviously that'll never happen.

Honestly I'd love to see Vaati or Pig Ganon, but they're so unlikely as to be laughable.

Skull Kid and Bandana Dee are pretty much it for characters I'd strongly support.

Although I'd appreciate King Boo and Daroach, both are characters I'd love at some point but both are more pipe dreams honestly. (although imo, if Mario gets another Mario character who isn't Toad, it should be King Boo)

Dark Matter would be neat too. And I'd understand why he would get in before Daroach.

Maybe not for this game; But in general I wouldn't necessarily count Pig Ganon out. If we throw enough DLC support behind him; he may get in Smash 6; if they decided to overhaul the 64/Melee characters.

None, really. For me after Skull Kid, the villains group of Smash will be complete. Also, I'm really trying to break from Smashboards. Haha

Yep, Japan is almost twice the size of the British Isles.

I think skull kid would be rad, I think he could have a cool moveset and visually stands out in a nice way. Especially if he had Tattle and Tael hanging around him too.
I've wanted him in as soon as I played MM 3D, which was my first chance to play and experience the game.
(though many years prior I had an opportunity to buy the n64 cart of it, but got pokemon yellow instead, haha)
I really hope he gets in, and I do feel like theres a good amount of evidence to his inclusion.
I could also see him as a boss, which would also be neat, just not as neat.
We need more zelda reps that aren't link. : P

Well, after Skull Kid I will still throw in my support for Porky and Pig Ganon until they get in. After those 3 get in, the villain's roster will be complete in my eyes.
