I consider myself a good Marth player in Brawl. I win most of my matches, in fact I have even beaten a top ten SmashBrawlRanking player in friendlies, but even I cannot beat the simplest of all Falco players. My eyes truly opened to Marth's weakness in this match-up when I played against one of my friends who mains Falco. My secondary is Falco but mine kind of stinks and can still nearly beat his, but when my Marth (which is normally 100 times better than my Falco) plays he totally owns me. Falco's chaingrab to 45 or so percent topped off with a shine can give Falco players a cumulative 162(Correct me if I am wrong)% advantage over Marth. Additionally his lasers continually batter down my defenses and cannot be destroyed with Marth's sword. At about 120% Falco players just top it off with an fsmash. I can't see a way to crush this menice and it's driving me crazy. Does anybody have any tips?

well Yaoi has no projectiles so he may have trouble against captain falcon's lasers. Your best bet is to get close, but not too close. At this range you should be able to hit Captain falcon, and interrupt any possible laser spam, without being hit by his tilts, AAA combo etc. moves. (Just be prepared for captain falcon's shield grab) I'm really tired right now to be honest with you, so i know my advice is very basic, but i don't personally have much trouble with Captain falcon players against my Yaoi.

What Mann said is good advice. Fair. Fair is your friend.
Oh and play him on Battlefield, that will help you ALOT

Playing on a platform stage will probably help you in the laser spamming issue.

With the chain grab, it seems like you're having an issue with spacing, you have to remember that Marth has a disjointed hitbox, so take advantage of that and use the whole space between the sword so that you don't get grabbed (and if you space right the tip will hit).

i think marth can up B out of falcos chain grab, as well as falcos rapid A jab

often to counter illusion, you can run to the center of the stage and charge up smash, kills around 100ish

also, if you hit falco under you, and you forward B him, he drops down low, and all you need to do is edge hog. If you Fair falco he can DI it up and forward B and survive, but forcing falco to up B from below you by doing forward B makes it an easy edge hog against him.

Yaoi = M arth
Captain F alcon = F alco
Halo = S mash

Just out of curiosity, why was falco given the pseudonym captain falcon?
seems like it would add unnecessary confusion
and apparently from looking at this post after i wrote it, vice versa?

Ok bro. This matchup is 60-40 in our favor, and if you know the matchup well it's pretty easy. Work on walk to perfect shield to get through those lasers first of all. Once your close in, keep him at bay with fairs and dtilts. He has nothing on your range up close, so just keep your sword in front of you and there isn't much he can do. You can DS out of his chain grab, just don't do it all the time or he'll bait it and punish. Maybe you can post a vid and I'll be able to help a little more.

edit: LOL now i know why this thread was bare cause it wasn't steel's...

i'll just copy paste what i wrote there >_>

double edit: wow everything i wrote was said except maybe dash pivot to make it seem like youre hugging then dashing the other way and charge u-smash

after playing a bunch of good falcos walking and ps'ing lasers until your in dash sh crossover range is the best imo the other ways don't work nearly as well
