Note: Remember that it IS using a medieval timeline, so don't expect any futuristic/ modern day armour. Also that design came from the 80's where the drawings don't look as appealing as they are today.

Dont really understand how their statements are racist, but I think its rather just an example of how something that can seem normal in one society is seen as being out of the norm in another and is then stereotyped. For example, over here, kilts are not a very common sight and thus don't have very many associations to make people realize that it is indeed a kilt and not a skirt, which has major feminine, or in this case girly, associations.
