Yo guys.

After a very very short amount of testing, I think that when you finish the charging of Fludd while flying through the air it has properties similar to the bucket where it stops all momentum, (It seemed to work for me, although I only tested it a few times.)

I can't test anymore so does somebody else wanna try it? Basically, just charge Fludd to where it's almost all the way charged, then get hit. Use Uair -> Fludd and when it clicks I generally lose all my momentum (horizontally, I never got to test vertically) Keep in mind I only tried this twice and it seemed to have effect, but I may have just been MINDGAMED!

Nightzander (KawaiiPoyo's brother who mains Mario) said that shooting FLUDD actually lets you get control of your DI quicker when you're momentum canceling.

That also is worth testing. Now that it is mentioned, I will actually test it.

Lol, i found this out too by accident. I was trying to see if cape could help mario's momentum but it failed, so i was fooling around with DI and FLUDD, and it helped stopped Mario's momentum a bit when i finished charging it. But I havent tested it thouroughly tho.

Thanks A2.

I was just randomly staring off into space after a final today and for some reason I really wanted to try momentum canceling this way, hopefully it works out rather well.

Ok, I just tried the "FLUDD Momentum Cancel" in an actual game. It saved me from a Marth's Dolphin Splash edge gaurd.... Right by the blast line too.......

Someone test this

I dream about making combos with Mario while I'm at work.

I'll check out momentum canceling thoroughly when I wake up in like 3 hours. If it works it'd be pretty awesome for Mario, but it'd mess up FLUDD's current uses (as if someone other than me uses them anyway).

Well, considering how my parents think you're all rapists...

We'd have to meet at a public place, like a mall. Not particularly for a smashfest but just to meet and talk. After that I'd be able to go to any smashfest without worry.

Unless you really ARE rapists.
They might be able to set something up at the Play and Trade on Dale Mabry, the TVs they have there are a tad laggy though.

I still use FLUDD for edgegaurds and spacing >.>

I just tested it a bit. Finishing FLUDD's charge appears to have some sort of momentum slowing effect, but it may just look like that because of the way the animation changes suddenly. If it does slow momentum, it's not like Game & Watch's bucket or Yoshi's Egg Roll where you're stopped immediately. At one point I distinctly heard the "ding" and saw the animation change yet still flew out of the blastzone afterward.

Well the thing about this technique is, once you use it you have to get rid of FLUDD to use it again, (if it actually works, that is.) therefore you could still use it for FLUDD related shenanigans sparingly.

I myself only use FLUDD to get people away from me when I'm going for the ledge, so this actually would work perfectly with it. (I'm not a big fan of on-stage fludding, although I've been experimenting with it.)

EDIT: Thanks Bobson, I'll test to see if it does indeed have a momentum slowing effect tommorrow. (Via frame-by-frame hacks.)

I can't escape MK's tornado. I got ***** this weekend by an MK that did literally nothing but Whorenado and Scrubble Loop. Seriously, how is it fun to just press B all day?

[/off topic]

FLUDD momentum cancelling, eh? Sounds interesting. I don't think it would be as useful as G&W's bucket, but hey, it's worth looking at.

I like using FLUDD quite a bit. It can really help me. Also it wouldn't mess up its uses. The theory is at the moment that when Mario finishes charging his FLUDD, he slows momentum enough to survive. What you would do is normally charge it to almost full. Now you can use it, hit them away, and recharge to almost full. When you need to survive, throw this out and you'll be alive and able to use it fully charged. It's just a new way of using FLUDD. IF Mario could momentum cancel or slow momentum drastically, that would be awesome.

Just tested it thoroughly, with DI, without DI, and then with momentum cancelling, all set at 1/4th speed on training mode.

Didn't see any sign of momentum being cancelled, what I did see in a few cases (it might've just been me) is Mario's knockback being slowed down by FLUDD being fully charged, but in the end you're still gonna get KO'd. In this case it feels like Ike and Marth's counter.

On a side note, all of that DI work made me realize I need to work more on my DI in actual fights. <.<

So that's the link to a stream I'll be playing on today at a friends place. He's going to opening a LAN center of sorts in the future and for now is trying to promote the store name through this stream. He does various games and events and today he'll be streaming Brawl along with Will (My tournament partner), Myself, and a few others. So chances are you'll see Will and I reppin' that Mario/Link + Donkey Kong team. Be sure to watch, it's gonna be fun stuff.

HeroMystic beat me to it.

The effect is so small that if it even exists, it doesn't matter, like, it seems to almost be within fractions of a percent...or something. In fact, you actually shouldn't do this at all to survive, since it means you waste a few frames not DIing towards the stage, which actually means you'll get KOed earlier for being too fancy. The midair jump also does a much better job of momentum canceling.

In my household, there was mostly gospel and contemporary Christian music. Most of it was bland and unmemorable. However, my dad also introduced me to Rush and some other classic rock bands, which I still listen to.
