I wasn't able to go due to money problems. Couldn't really justify spending the money at the moment...

Definitely wanted to play you guys though. Dunno what the Marios in attendance had decided.

So...I decided I'm dropping Mario as well as DK and picking up Dedede. I wanted to see what I could do at APEX and I basically failed myself. I realized after the tournament that I mostly used Mario and Donkey Kong because I really like the characters rather than their Brawl incarnations, which in my opinion, have really poorly made movesets because they are not very loyal to the characters. If the characters were more interesting I would still use them, but I just don't think I like them anymore. I was really hoping Dedede would make it in because he was one of my favorite Nintendo characters and I loved him when Brawl came out because he fit my play style perfectly, but I didn't use him because he was very focused around chain grabbing. I tried playing him a couple weeks ago and he fit my play style so well he was already as good or better than my mains after one week of loosely using him in friendlies. I decided I wouldn't use him at APEX though because I wanted to see where my mains would take me in tourney and in money matches where I was trying my best.

I lost against Fuujin's Zelda, then went 2-2 in pools. I played against one MK in pools and then another in a MM. I couldn't get the last hit on either of them, but Mario was still doing better against MK than my DK or Peach did. So basically I went to APEX and my Mario was cack. Now that MK is banned, there's really no matchup I shouldn't be able to handle as Peach or Dedede except maybe Falco. Because Dedede is basically the character I was destined to play, I'd just be holding myself back if I didn't use him.

So, yeah. Just wanted to get that off my chest.

Also veggie, just go with the flow. But i will tell you that picking a better character won't really mean you will start beasting. You also have to be good as a player in general. Thats why you see top mid/low tier characters going nutz on high tier players. You could pick meta knight and still get rocked. You need to fix yourself first. And your habits as a player. It's all about mindgames dude. Mess with peoples heads.

Shoutouts to Mario's:

Boss - it was great playing you, even though we only played 2 games. You stomped me, but that's what I was expecting anyway. I was doing really good at the start of game two… But you're too good. lol

Famous - I wish we could have played more games other than just doubles! You seemed like a really cool guy though. Sorry again about my horrible pun when you signed my friend's peach doll… "Look, now you're famous!" lol…

Dr. Yogi - Man, we only got to play 1 game… so lame. We finally got a setup then got kicked off. Ha Ha and I was goin' in at the start of game 2!!! after you whooped me game 1… Good stuff and we will have to play again someday. BTW, you walked away right before the game where I 2-stocked that guy's MK on the tv we ended up playing on… I was so salty that noone saw that…

Veggi - It was really fun playing you! I wanted a rematch against your Mario and DK… I think I coulda had you!!!! lol good stuff though and I look forward to seeing your DDD someday… Also I'm mad at myself for not going Olimar against Megalodon… He just knew the Mario MU from you too well for me to beat him… Also our playstyles seem to be VERY similar.

Kirin - I was super sad when I never got to meet or play you. UGH.

Matador - You suck. lol just teasin' but I was REALLY upset when I found out you weren't going to be there… And also that I couldn't find any Mario's that had your number… I was in NY for 2 days but couldn't get ahold of you. I was really looking forward to meeting you. Ah well, maybe next time.

Overall, I hope I somewhat proved myself to the Mario's that met me. I had some good games over the weekend (CLOSE first game against Illmatic in pools, beat Roller's IC's in a friendly on SV (did anyone see that????? lol), had some close games with YoshQ in a MM, did pretty well against Fujin overall in our MM, even though I lost, went last stock last hit of every game in my MM with Robfox, etc).

I went into Apex wanting to prove that I wasn't a total scrub, and I hope I accomplished that. I still love playing Mario even though I got beat in most of the games i played at the tourney. I wanted to play everyone more because I usually adapt really well after the first game and if not the second I usually win the third. But meh schedule was tight and friendlies weren't really allowed. lol

I think the main reason most players lose last stock/last hit scenarios is because of the tension in the air. Learning to keep your composure will help you alot. I usually smile or give out a quick chuckle in those scenarios, lol. Nerves never get to me anymore. Even still, you can still make technical errors calm or not and that can also cost matches.

I wish i was really there to meet you guys...but i didn't have the money to make it, which sucks.
I wanted to show my playstyle with mario, which is different & innovative from most mario players.
Of course, ripping a page or two from everyone's playbook, haha.

Oh and ask for some weegee tips from boss and other weegee players.

Thanks for the reply. I know it's possible to do well with sub decent characters, but I just don't think Mario is the character for me, at least in this game. For example, I don't feel like MK fits me at all so I don't really want to play as him. I don't like Marth or any of them either. I chose Dedede for play style purposes and not just because he's higher on the list. Not to sound like I'm johning, but I wasn't playing very well against you. I was getting vibes that you didn't want to play with me at all when I asked for friendlies so I was feeling kind of down when we were playing. Like I was just wasting your time or something. I still would have lost, but I feel like it wouldn't have been as badly. Still, I know what you mean and I do have habits. After going to Apex I noticed I have a lot of things to do to get myself better at the game and now I have a determination to do it. I don't expect myself to instantly get good, but I think with Dedede I'll get better faster and have more fun doing it.

Veggi - It was really fun playing you! Man, I don't think I could do another Mario match. That took 6 minutes of us playing normally, lol. Yeah, he's not bad against Mario. Your Oli may have been a better choice. But yeah, we do play pretty similar...not wanting to approach, haha.

I was pretty tense, but I tried not to let it get to me. I was looking for an opportunity to punish MK for the kill and just never got it. Sometimes tension can definitely get to me though and for that, I definitely do need to keep my composure. I think the best way to do that might be to get used to playing in important matches.

From what I remember, you scare too easy. I would go near you and do nothing. Then you would get scare and side step or roll, then I punish. I pretty much got in your head and control you.

You are seem to get to hungry when you wanted to kill. You are got gonna beat Peach up close. You have to play keep away and bait for an attack. This only works if the peach aint to smart and just wants to rush. Your bair and up-B say "**** you Peach" Learn to be more obvservant.

Yeah, my bad for that, Steep. I planned on going and was pretty much confirmed, but I had a few unforseen expenses pop up at a bad time for me. I really couldn't afford NOT to spend the money I had set aside for Apex at the time...

I really wanted to play you and felt bad for not making it. I was gonna enter like...everything, lol. I'll make an effort to visit the MW for a tourney as soon as possible to make up for my blunder.

Also, I had a blast teaming with you Drk Pch. Sorry if I held you back. We got really unlucky in our bracket (Kadaj and vVv Zero first round wtf? lol) and I was hoping to do better than that. -Wzzup dudes, well, i've had a pretty exciting weekend, because many pro players came to my state to hang out together and play eachother, we streamed a little tourney:http://es.twitch.tv/wmsbuff/b/305540758 , you may find my matches there, among many others from my friends, check them out.

The bad thing now, was that i've only played a serious set against Tkd's Fox, he's somewhat stubborn about using Fox but he used it for our last matches, i was playing pretty good, winning the first match by a solid margin, the second match, i failed an Usmash for the kill at the last stock, since it comes out soooo slow, since i was gonna punish a sideB landing with it, but he actually powershielded it and killed me with an Usmash, in the 3rd match i just lost, sadly, since we didn't had the codes for the replays, we didn't saved the matches, i'll have to keep that MU in my mind, haha and i have to say that it's like 45-55 or 40-60 for us, at least Tkd vs me, he's more skilled than me, but since i'm a Ltier, i can adapt to any situation and that's what i was doing, i was satisfied in the end, since i'm not in the top of my level right now and i got pretty good results.
