Have you ever just played a game and just had certain parts resonate with you? Parts that felt personal and made you feel like this game was special to you, even if the game wasn't all that great. Maybe the game made your realize something about yourself. Maybe the game brought you so much joy that you just can't shut up about it. Maybe one small moment just clicked and hit just right.

In this thread we want to celebrate those magical moments. What were some moments that were magical to you?

EDIT - misread thread title, oh well will leave this here anyway.

The 1st thing that comes to mind is i believe 2nd boss fight the standout sewer one against Kuze in Yakuza 0. The music, events that led there, dialog before, & fight itself were perfect. I was having alot of fun with the game but that was the point i realized i was playing a truely special & unique game. There were other great moments Nishiki & Kiryus drive outside the city & several more in Majimas route but that was the 1st one that really hit hard for me. Only bad part is i cant experience it for the 1st time again.

well I'm not sure if it'll quite match what your looking for but I'll share some moments that stick out for me from my favourite games series

First of all In Majora's Mask, when we find the girl Pamela living in inka canyon we find a way to sneak into her house (find the the stone mask) where we find her cursed father. I think it is a truly great moment when we break the curse and Pamela comes running to hug her father. the song of healing playing over the scene, so memorable.

In Skyward Sword we are joined on our quest by Fi. I know a lot of people didn't like her but she never bothered me. And that farewell we have with her gets me in the feels, for lack of a better term. The remix of her main theme is beautiful it stays with me. And then we have to say goodbye to Impa.

This one takes place at the end of A Link Between Worlds. After defeating Yuga once and for all we confront Princess Hilda when all of a sudden Ravio leaps in and unmasks himself. We then have this really good scene where Ravio talks Hilda down, convinces her what she was doing was wrong and tells her he wanted to save her from himself. Made those some of my favourite one off characters

I may come back with more

The first time I played Ghostly Grove in DKC2. Donkey Kong Country games married wonderful music with incredibly immersive aesthetics in the first game and continued for the first half of Diddy's Kong Quest. But something about the combination of the melancholy Forest Interlude song, the semi-lighted forest as part of the backdrop, the little paths going into darkness in background? It so thoroughly created a detailed setting that my mind seamlessly filled in the blanks for. Titles before this had provided enjoyable obstacle courses and interesting levels, but this game and specifically this level was the first to take me to another world.

Just…the entirety of Mario Odyssey, to me. The game resonated with me ever since I saw the reveal trailer nearly eight years ago, which is when I realized that Nintendo was pulling out all the stops for the Switch.

As far as more recently in the Switch era, Squeaky Clean Sprint became my favorite track in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for its sheer creativity.

DKC2, freeing Donkey Kong. And actually playing the first level. The whole feel of this (Kong)quest is just another level for me. Especially as a kid. Seeing the Krokodile Island sink is another beautiful moment.

Man what I'd give to play through Odyssey for the first time again.

I remember going "woahhh!" at the unqiue designs of the kingdoms, Lake Kingdom especially was a surprise to me because of how vibrant it was and how otherworldly its design looked. I was enamored by the captures and enemies too, and the game was just plain fun. I had the time of my life with it.

I would like to mention the Another Code games. Given the remakes are less than a year old I will spoiler this

So in the second game towards the end the main villain erases the memories of the character Richard the father of our main character Ashley. After a series of events we are able to restore Richard's memory. The moment that follows between him and Ashley I find kinda heart warming. The conclusion of a game long character arch between the two of them. Kinda bugs me that this whole part was left out of the remake.

Earlier in the game there is another scene which I suppose magical is the wrong term but it stays with you. Through large parts of the game Ashley is joined by the character Matthew who is looking for his father. At the end of his story in the game Matthew ends up regaining some lost memories and encountering the spirit of his little sister. The order of events plays out differently between the original and the remake but the ends result is still one of the most emotional scenes I have ever encountered in a video game. It would bring a tear to a glass eye as my mother says.

so yeah these games had scenes in them that left a strong impression on me

Playing Mario 64 on 3D All Stars for the first time. I had heard so much random pieces of information about it that I kind of mentally made a jigsaw puzzle imagining what the game was actually like. So finally experiencing what it was actually like felt magical to me especially with the dream like qualities of the game.

There’s also the time I beat Wind Waker for the first time. It was the first Zelda game I played and at the very young age I was when I first played it I struggled a lot. So when I was a little bit older it felt like a huge accomplishment when I finally actually beat the game (and the ending is just great in general.)

Beating Mario Galaxy for the first time. It was past midnight, I was allowed to stay up that late because my parents were out of town for a New Year's party and my great aunt was watching me and my sister. I came upstairs for the ten second countdown and then went back to gaming. It was very liberating, and Mario was so real when he said "SUPER MARIO GALAXY" at the end. like yeah you're right mario. this really is a Super Mario Galaxy

I've wanted to talk about this scene in particular for a while.

Riki is a pretty special character to me. His introduction portrays him as a buffoon. Your typical JRPB mascot character, just without the perverted tendencies (he's married). He doesn't do a lot to convince anyone that he's anything but that, until this scene. Riki is a lot deeper than he appears. He's actually a very caring and mature individual. He's willing to play to fool if it means he can take care of those he cares about. He'll shed his pride to take care of yours. Riki gets even more depth later on, but this scene always sticks out to me, as the moment he starts to become more than a mascot character.

Remember i mentioned it on another thread but one of these moments for me was Chapter 10: Renewal in Fire Emblem Awakening. Another point where a game went from great to something truley special. It was all perfect, the character interactions, music, & map itself. It went places i wasnt expecting & exceeded my already high expectations given the games overall reputation & how fun it had been leading to that point.

I loved the totk finale and recreated it in G Mod and reanacted it via fake master sword!

Other than that most of ages, seasons and warioland 3 stay in my head rent free!

Off the top of my head, the final of Mario Odyssey when you take control of Bowser and escape as Break Free plays was incredible. Then having a large section of the post game being a love letter to Super Mario 64 made me feel like a kid again.

Red showing up in Gen II is another standout moment in a Nintendo game for me.
