WOW WOW WOW!!!! Just saw the trailer for this game. Ya I know a little late but its so freaking gory!!! And I searched didn't find anything on it. And does anyone know well anything else about it?

EDIT: So I was thinking what if Mad World by some strange incident became an amazing fighting game. Like it rivaled that of street fighter, guily gear(ya I know going a little far here..) but if it did, well I will leave it there cause thats as far as I have thought so far.

Way too overhyped. I've been following Nintendo Power on this game and it just doesn't deliver. Yeah, so its devs worked on Okami, which was an artistic masterpiece, but this game just doesn't deliver anything promising to me.

I'm not a fan of killing others in any and every way possible, and to say the least, it's utterly sad to see the video game world delving even deeper into this ultra-violence driven (how'd you like that 'd' alliteration) madness.

The black/white/red thing is super overrated. Ever since 6th Sense made extensive use of red and the Sin City movie came out...ugh.

However, the over-the-top violent humor looks like it could be worth looking at. I'll wait on it and see what it's really about rather than get excited for it now.

Anyone who thinks that this game is good, heck even average simply has a terrible taste in games. This looks like it could be even worse than the SUPERMEGAHYPED No More Heroes. That game was trash, and this game will be too.

Um, Okami was fun.

This seems odd, b/c a lot of people are into shooters. I always thought it was the violence.

I'm guessing it's in black and white because if it was in color, people wouldn't laugh at the death. It would just be creepy. As it is, it's like black and white comic book. With violent punchlines.

Of course, you could wait for the review before making the judgement. All I know is that it will have the "horror comedy" effect - fundamentally disturbing in a hilarious way. The "Why am I laughing?" type effect.

I'm a huge advocate of artistic creative design in games (such as Okami), but this game visually looks very unappealing. It the majority of images that I've seen, it's very hard to decipher what is what, which is why they decided to make the blood red, so you could actually see it. It's a huge gimmick of an idea and I do not support it.

And to "The Real Gamer". Thank you. No More Heroes was a poor game in my opinion too, and this looks to follow its exact steps.

I didn't think of that "hard to see" thing.

Honestly, don't expect much from this in terms of sales. Unique games either have to be unique in that anyone can play them (ala LittleBigPlanet) or they will tank. Hell, LBP is considered one of the best games out now and it's sales don't reflect that at all.

Fact is, wait until it's out before saying whether it's good or not. So far, one country has banned it.

Trust me Spire, we aren't the only ones. The more time that goes by, the more I get pissed off at Nintendo. They're freaking alienating their real fans and coming out with more and more trash. More than half of the games for Wii on shelves at the moment are filled with dumb games like Wii Sports and Wii Carnival or some lame sh** like that? Instead of getting hyped over Zelda, Mario, etc., we're getting hyped over games like this and No More Heroes 2??? COMMON PEOPLE

After Mario Kart Wii was released, Nintendo has been going downhill, and it just keeps going further down.

EDIT: I lost myself there for a moment... My bad. >_>

Lol

You DO understand this is Nintendo right? Have you not noticed the drought? No half-decent games since MK, and if this is the game that's supposed to end it, then Nintendo is losing it.

This is supposed to be the game for the hardcore gamer. The M one that gets all the sales because it's really cool.

I agree, we should definately wait and see.

This is one of those wait and see games. I'm kinda glad that a Wii game is finnally aimed at the Hardcore mainstream.

@The Real Gamer

Are you saying that Madworld is being made by Nintendo??? ELOHELOHEL sorry but if you did mean that then more ELOHELs. Wii Sports isn't a shelf game. Its a pack in with the Wii every where except Japan. We can't hype about Zelda or Mario becuase we don't even know when they're coming out!

@SpireIII
I liked No More Heroes. It fitted my game style of killing the masses with a laser sword.

It's being made by Sega.

But this won't end anything anyway. Mature titles sell well on the 360 and PS3 because that is their major, target audience. The Wii is Casuals and children as their target audience so this may not sell nearly as well as it would have on another system.

Technically, it's being made by PlatinumGames, which used to be Clover Studios (who made Viewtiful Joe and God Hand, for crying out loud). Sega just publishes it.

(sigh)You know, none of this bad rap about Nintendo being "kiddy" and "casual" would have happened if Sin and Punishment actually got released in America during the N64 era and that the Gamecube's underrated "hardcore" games would sell well.

Not to mention that Wind waker's visuals didn't help matters in that area.

Also, Square shouldn't have ditched Nintendo in the first place.

I say that there should be more "hardcore" Nintendo games made to improve their image and actually have people take them seriously, as long as said games are good.

Heh. If I liked No More Heroes, I'd definitely quote this.

Well, it's not just bad rap. It USED to be just bad rap, and I recall fighting hard as hell to defend Nintendo. Then they came out with the Wii, and basically said "Hey, everyone thinks we're kiddy, so why not become that way anyways?" At least back in the Gamecube era the non-idiots realized that they weren't just kiddy.

Also, Square shouldn't have ditched Nintendo in the first place.
Better yet, it would've been GREAT if Nintendo hadn't sold Rare.

I say that there should be more "hardcore" Nintendo games made to improve their image and actually have people take them seriously, as long as said games are good.
Precisely. And they need to cut the motion sensor, touch screen, etc. gimmick crap. Not entirely, as it can be useful for some games. Just NOT THE ENTIRE GAMEPLAY.

Of course, this would be in a perfect world where casual gamers don't exist so they wouldn't make any more money by doing that, and would cater to hardcore gamers instead.

I lost all respect for you there... Seriously. :ohwell:

Anyway, I guess people can have hope for this game, but IMO, this is just going to be a repeat of No More Heroes. Agree/disagree however much you want, but that game was way to overhyped and fell short of MANY of my and many others expectations.

Never before have I seen so much phail concentrated into one thread. (well, yeah I have, but still...)

People seem to assume that just because the game is UBER GOREY OMG BLOOD EVERYWHERE MACHO GUYS WITH CHAINSAWS TEARING APART BAD GUYS MADE OF BLOOD AND PLASTICINE OMG that its going to be like a stereotypical american gorefest with all flash, no substance.

Seriously, these are the same people who made GOD HAND, VJ, AND OKAMI. Platnium/clover have yet to make a bad game. (Yes, even Red Hot Rumble, which was totally underrated IMO.)
The gameplay looks similar to god hand, which can only mean it can only be either awesome or awesometacularly bombdiggidy awesome. (unless you're IGNorant.)

also, NMH was a good game. Not as good as Killer 7, but still great, especially if you actually bother to look for the hidden stuff. (Of course, if you're not a fan of beat-em-ups....)

And yes, I know I sound like a complete fanboy here, but I don't care. Its Clover for gods sake. I thought their triumphant semi-return from the dead would come with much more fanfare than this

Yeah, because it doesn't matter how good they've been in the past. We actually judge the game based on other criteria than just the company making it. That's the mistake I made with Nintendo for too long; anything made by them, I got and assumed would be awesome. Not so. You've always got to look at a new game with some sort of acknowledgment of the fact that even good companies screw up sometimes. You don't have to have an objective perspective completely, but don't analyze it over-subjectively.

You really do, no offense, sound like a fanboy.

Um...really? Unless you count being against the new Nintendo being a fanboy, I'm not entirely sure how...

Like, the concept. The entire concept of the game. That's what I'm judging it on.

Firus isn't a fanboy, mang. Perhaps of Metroid, but that series alone. When speaking of the series, he'll be incredibly biased, but when speaking of any other video game [series], he approaches it with great intellect and analysis.

Pas is a fanboy!!!!!11

So, do anyone else thing Mad World will set a record or something?

If the concept is to be so violent it's humerous, it might become the most violent game in the history of the genre (Adventure, I would guess). Maybe it will be banned in more countries than any other game.

I find it hilarious that the "child friendly" Wii has this system exclusive. I would think Nintendo would want to disperse the blame among the other companies. It does redefine "what's black, white, and red ALL over."

And now, for angry British people:

The ESRB will mangle this for we Aussies. If it's black, white and red now, it'll be black, white and black when we get it.

Won't stop me approaching it with my usual cautious enthusiasm, but it's a little worrying.

Totally.
Wii itself is not "child friendly", let's get that clear. If it were something like Leap Frog, then it would be considered "child friendly". The only reason people think that is for the few casual games Nintendo has released, and the tons of crapy, lame, BS games from those third party devolopers in the past.

--------------------------
Anyway, The game Mad World itself does not appeal to me that much. But who knows what it will turn out to be later on. Might have good gameplay. Might have a good storyline (eh <_<'). However, as of what I have seen so far, it does not look like a game that I would even want to spend thirty bucks (max) on.
However, I am not going to fully judge the game using only the little bit of info I have.

So. Yeah. We'll see.

It is funny how some people think this game would do better on the HD consoles. I mean niche games have so much success when put on the right console. Who wouldn't want an over the top gorey Streets of Rage?

This game will be lucky to sell a million if Sega backs it properly. Sales should mostly come from those that bought No More Heroes since their are some similarities.

For those complaining about the wii, just remember the market leader always gets the most shovelware and generally wins because of the casuals.

OHGODTHEMUSICINTHISGAMEISAWESOMEHHNNNGGG

IGN is doing nearly daily coverage of this for a month. I think they want to make sure it's more hyped than Sonic and the Black Knight by release.

http://wii.ign.com/objects/142/14253678.html

Sorry about the double post.
I don't blame them. Which would you rather hype more:

1- Another game in the sonic series, which hasn't had a good game since.....uh......

or

2-

The choice isn't hard here people.

When IGN began "Madworld month," the reviewers/previewers mentioned their thoughts of the game, since they have the review copy. They mentioned that the controls were intuitive, and the game delivers. The chainsaw can be used with verticle swipes for vertical cuts, and horizontal swipes for horizontal cuts. Aparently, if you jump and do a horizontal cut, you can do a decapitation.

I don't know how good the controls are, but they are not bad aparently.

I for one cannot wait for this game. Despite being Black And White and Red with desaturated Yellow, the art direction is lovely. Asia town looks like Asia and the Big Guy with a Double Headed Buzz Saw, in Big Samurai armor looks good. Plus the music, despite being a genre I dislike, is surprisingly addicting.

I really can't see this game in color. Color would possibly ruin it.
