I don't think a Mother triple rep is possible, and Claus is not playable unless Lucas is, the only way he could be in is if Lucas replaced Ness, and Claus got in... or maybe not. I at least think one of the following things might make an appearance:
-Robo Claus (Dunno if playable, but at least in the Subspace Emissary)
-New Pork City (would spoil a lot, too...)
-Pokey in Adventure mode

Hmm...are you sure you were wanting to put that link up PrettyGoodYear? Because Mato preferred that this should stay only within the borders of the starmen.net forums, so that way the majority of people on any other forum (SWF included) don't have to quickly go into disbelief and act like arseholes.
I believe it though, since starmen.net is like, the MOST reliable on anything Mother.

I do wonder if any other characters from Mother will make an appearance in Adventure... It would be cool... then we could also see maybe Flint, Kumatora, Duster, Salsa and Boney in Brawl, as well as Paula, Jeff, Poo and The Runaway Five would be awesome.
Yeah, I realize we won't see all of those characters on the Subspace Emissary, but hey, SOME of them are possible.

I still wouldn't like Lucas, Clause, Flint, or anyone else from Mother 3 to appear as a playable character in Brawl. I mean theres no fun in using a Japan only character. I would feel pretty ripped off. I mean Sakurai is putting all of his effort into this next game and I feel like it isn't his style to put in a character only one country would truly recognize.
Sakurai wants this game to be for everyone, he's probably going to make all of the worldwide characters playable. At least I hope he does. Why else would he put Ike in?

I agree, and I think only Poo should be another representer to avoid a clone.
However, Roy and Marth were in SSBM, which was a shame. That's why I was biased against them comming back. Those ****s wouldn't compare to Ephraim and Ike.

He said he wasn't totally against the idea. I expect some Mother 3 representation, besides that game SHOULD have been released in the americas... ¬¬ *grumble*
I also hope that besides Lucas, Lip gets a playable character spot. And hey, many of the other Japan-only suggestions are great too, and I wouldn't mind seeing them in Brawl. If the playable roster is big enough, a small quantity of Japan only characters (2-3) won't rain on anyone's parade. You'll recognize enough faces.
Anyway, here's to some Mother/EarthBound updates next week!

But we can at least buy Lip's game. She has several games out worldwide already. So Lip isn't foreign to us anymore. Lucas on other hand hasn't been in any other country other than Japan. Marth biggest disappointment to me was the fact I can't buy his game, unless I import it. (But then I would need a translator) I still hope for recognizable characters to appear in Brawl over a one shot nobody.
Though I could see Mother 3 popping up on the DS someday. So I can give him some credit on that. But I still prefer the Mother 2 cast over the other ones.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I think that Ness may be replaced by Lucas due to the fact that the Franklin Badge item says Mother instead of Earthbound. It seems like the American version would say Earthbound. But if they use Lucas and take Ness out of the game, then he would be credited as appearing from Mother 3 since his game was never released in the US and was never called Earthbound.

Ness can keep his moveset. Entirely, but bring him back to 64 calibur.
Lucas has many MANY other forms of PSI and general attacks to chose from.
PK Love, PK ground, Brainshock or simply variations of PK Thunder ect... and what about PK Rocket?
I'm not even an earthbound or Mother fan and have never played the games but I know enough to come up with a great new Move set for Lucas that will set him apart well away from Ness

You can buy Lip's game, but in USA it doesn't have Lip. Do you remember Tetris Attack?
And I live in Europe, and can't play Earthbound, because it never got released. Baaaaaaaw let's remove Ness, I don't care what others may feel about the character.

I've pretty much given up hope that I'll be able to play Mother 3 in english, but hey, with a basic japanese dictionary I can play through it. It has a great story, worth twice the amount of the game... and if you've played both games you'd know that Lucas and Ness are less similar than Mario and Luigi.
Meh, Nintendo should've of slapped Ness on the cover of Mother 1+2, a decent amount of people would have bought that, since he is recognizable now, and they could've had a decent amount of people buying Mother 3... wouldn't have been a blockbuster title, but they could've got some profit and allowed us to play the game... that's what I think either way, chances are, I'm wrong either way.
And thanks GenG, I was gonna say that I have family in PAL territories, and they had no clue of who Ness was.

I'd like to see Lucas in (for more Mother/EB support), but I'm fine with him being a "Luigified" (yes, I hate the word) version of Ness. He could have some similarities, but different effects (like Roy's flame sword), and his specials could be either different altogether or control differently (like Y.Link's). I really still think there is a good chance for both.

In the end, if he got in as a "Luigified" clone, (or as a clone, whatever) I wouldn't mind, I'd rather not, cause he has so many possibilities, but if that's the only way...
I remember playing SSB and being mad at Ness' specials being Paula's, but I got over that, I think I could get over Lucas' possible clonage.
I will hope for the best, though.

I have a very stong feeling that Ness will return, Lucas will be a newcomer and that Claus could very well be an AT....dunno why but thats just how i feel

Could be... I don't see Claus as an assist trophy however. He just wouldn't fit with the other characters, I think he'll have a part in the story of the Subspace Emissary, but hey, I could be wrong, I'm not making the game after all.

I guess we won't be seeing any more Mother stuff this week, so fingers crossed for next week. I wonder if we will get a profile next week, since when we got Ike we had a character-less week after (though with 2 character kind updates...) anyway.
I hope to see a Mother stage next week, it would just feel natural.

Mother stage would be REALLY nice. And I would die if they show a Mother 3 stage, but there's still a lot from EarthBound they could use. A LOT.

Doesn't matter if you haven't played the game, you won't explode if any Japan only characters get in (it's just limiting the potential characters in the game by leaving them out anyway), and there in no way will be any American only characters (the game is made in JAPAN people!). Honestly, people have trouble thinking these days...

If reidman's source is accurate--which I believe is true--we should be seeing Lucas soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow. :bigthumbu
And really, what other options do they have? The only veteran that we KNOW will be back on the default roster is CF. Theoretically, they could move Luigi to the default roster, but I don't see that happening simply because of Smash tradition. Jiggs is still a question mark at this point, so I hesitate to speculate. We still don't know about IC or G&W (especially the latter), but it's safe to say that Roy, YL, Doc, and Pichu are out of the running. Falco is another questionable choice, given Krystal's rise to fame and Wolf's notable fanbase. Marth is another character that I don't see returning in order to make room for newer and more diverse reps for the FE franchise. Ganondorf will be secret again, no doubt. Mewtwo was decidedly lackluster, but he may return--just not as a default character.
And that leaves Sheik. Rumors abound about Sheik's appearance in Brawl, especially given the now-infamous interview with Eiji Aonuma in which he mentions working closely with Sora on character designs for Link, Ganondorf, and Sheik . Whether or not "Sheik" was a Freudian slip in place of "Zelda" remains yet to be seen. However, revealing Sheik to be a separate character would certainly be a way to shake things up, especially after such an unexciting, even disappointing, week, especially for fans of Munchlax and/or Lady Lyndis.
Oh, and we're STILL waiting on that Animal Crossing rep. Still waiting...
In conclusion, the only characters left to reveal, discounting any crazy newcomer that Sakurai throws our way, are:
1) Captain Falcon
2) Ice Climbers
3) Lucas
4) Sheik
5) Animal Crossing Rep
My money is on 3, or at least my fingers are crossed for him.

No, but someone definitely needs to! I would hold off for now, though, until they post his official update on the DOJO!!. It should be coming soon enough.
