Holy crap it's been a while since I've been here. I recently started seriously getting into this game since my local scene is branching out to give Smash 4 a shot. Is there any consensus on if this Lucario is better than the one from Brawl since I've been away?
Slightly short but overall about the same spot.

Some lab stuff I just got done in training mode vs. Mario.

Landing FAir can combo into two more FAirs at low %
Just pulled landing FAir to UAir combo on a 60% Mario when we are at 0%.
Landing FF Fair to two more FAirs, and then a jump UAir comboed at low %.

Tipper UTilt at the end can combo into UAir when both characters are at 50%.
Non-tipper UTilt at the end can combo Mario into UAir when both characters are at 80%.
Seems to work as a kill combo with non-tipper UTilt to UAir at 90% on Mario.
Works at 95% too!
At 100% too

Hey guys
Want to know another Aura Sphere KO setup?
So
Up to when both Lucario and Mario are at 113% if he fails to tech Baby Aura Sphere jab locks in training mode.
Which as you know forces him to get up.
So that's a Force Palm grab right there if you are close enough.
Try to time it within a few frames before they splat the ground...
Mario was right above my head before I fired it off.

Lucario can apparently slide backwards while ducking somehow from a perfect pivot. Trying to find the input timing for this.

Guys, I found a critical programming error in Lucario's throw game! Let me show what I mean.

Here's a pic of Lucario finishing his fthrow in the current patch.

See? Doesn't it look like something is blatantly missing from it? Just look carefully, it's not that hard to spot this striking mistake.

Well, noticed it? Good, then you must certainly agree with me on this matter! Luckily, I broke into the game's code, managed to fix it all by myself and restored our fthrow to it's intended glory! All that remains is to hope that Sakurai will notice this error and fix his inexcusable blunder in the next patch. Here's a screenshot of it in action!

Hey everyone,

I'm Wolf, a long time lurker of Smashboards. Finally made an account, and came here to ask if I could please get a link to the Lucario Discord? I main Lucario, with a ton of secondaries and pocket characters. He has always been my favorite Pokémon, and D/P/Pl were very special games to me. So glad Sakurai brought Lucario forward from Brawl. Glad to be here!

Thank you!

Platinum was my favorite and most successful game and it really got me thinking of going competitive with Pokemon. Since then, though... After Gen IV ended I was excited for the next games. What could they give me that the last ones hadn't? And then everything since then was one major disappointment after another.

Yeah, I hate the circlejerk hatred a lot of people have for every game after G/S/C.
"Muh Gen 1 and 2!!"
Really annoying.
Well, I grew up with Gen 1, so many of my favorites originate from Gen 1, so I think it's mostly the nostalgia talking for many people. However, here I sit, maining Lucario (after being introduced to him as a Pokemon in PKMN Black) in smash and finding myself liking a lot of the newer (than gen 1) generation designs. To be fair, though, Gen 1 had a lot of really neat designs.

I didn't get to play any of the actual games until somewhat recently; never had a gameboy as a kid and my portable system of choice during my military days was a PSP. In the past few years I've played Pokemon Black/2, Y, and Alpha Sapphire, all within a reasonable time of their respective releases, and I've been having fun with the story/postgame, and I'm discovering new favorite designs/team setups (from gens 2+) but I just cant get into pokemon PvP. Wayyy too much minmaxing for my tastes, not to mention region-specific special releases with exclusive abilities poisoning the balance and general fairness of team building.

About 2 weeks ago I started up Super Mystery Dungeon (manually selecting Riolu ofc) and I'm rather enjoying it. The gameplay itself is fun and doesn't demand a min-maxed team, but rather allows you to build teams of your favorites and get away with lots of fun things. Really digging it.

I keep telling myself to go and find a game from each gen and play it for the experience, but i dunno if i can be bothered.... Could i technically skip gen3 since ORAS is a reboot essentially (from what I've heard), or is the story just THAT much different?

It's not that story is different. It's that the feel is different. I played Sapphire/Emerald and Alpha Sapphire. Wally develops a bit differently in the original games; it's very subtle but he does. And I would recommend Emerald over Sapphire; it has a somewhat-extended story, the ability to catch both Legendaries in the post-game along with the version mascot, and an absolutely AMAZING post-game area that I feel hasn't been topped yet, even by Platinum.

This. Love the way R/S/E feel. The remakes don't compare imo.

For real, D/P/Pl were good games that get lots of flak for no reason.
Stealth Rock, oh man gen 4 SR was the worst.

Smogon refused to test it even though I did a poll and most of the users wanted to. I was one of the people who made their suspect tests every time I tried and I was in on the Smogon OU gen 4 top 50 for a year. That's one of the reasons why I don't go to Smogon much anymore...

Smogon also refused to put my Flame Orb Cresselia sets on their website despite me leaderboarding with it for so long...

I must be living under a rock. When did Gen 4 become so hated? In terms of the Pokemon that were available Gen 4 was my second favorite, just being inched out by Gen 2.

I think that what was wonky in terms of Gen 4 was it felt really slow in terms of getting around in the overworld and sub par (at least in D/P) initial pokedex and gym roster (seriously. Flint's team makes no sense.) Also the advent of stealth rock and phys/special split were some huge changes that took some time to get used to when I was younger. All the Pokémon games are solid in their own right in all honestly.

So, I wonder if the auradog will have any changes this time around. I was pretty much OK with the last changes he got for 1.1.3 but was a little bugged by ASC->US "only working at kill percent" since kill% is different depending on stage and where you're standing. Other than that I had no qualms (after the patch notes were clarified) and was fairly pleased.

I wonder who's going to be looking into Lucario in-depth for 1.1.4.

Aura sphere charge is back to the way it used to be! Its a blender again and does not shield lock so we good now. And yes this is tested extensively and very much confirmed.

Yeah going into training mode and ASCing Fox nets you a 21 hit combo in just a couple seconds when it would only go to 12 before.

Keep in mind, engine changes won't be immediately changes. I am curious how they handled it this time around.

So I'm sorta confused about the whole deal with Lucario's shield lock. Right now I do labbing for it & I get the result of Lucario locking shields & breaking them like it used to. However, I wasn't able to shield DI push Lucario away when I was controlling the CPU or as my 1st player slot. So while I'm not able to shield DI to push Lucario away, I'm able to do these things:
  • hold shield during the shield lock, & tap left or right repeatedly to input a forward or back roll. This breaks the shield lock & I get hit.
  • hold shield during the shield lock, & tap down repeatedly to input a spot dodge. This allows me to go through with the input & physically spot dodge but still get hit because of the constant ticking charge hitbox.
Overall, I like this change because no matter what, when you get the shield lock confirm you'll either get the shieldbreak kill if they don't know what to do, or, they mash a dodge input & get hit by the charge to setup into your next move anyhow.

Does anyone else get these same results?

EDIT: This works on Duck Hunt, who has the best roll & spot dodge frame data. So if it works on Duck Hunt then this should be universal to every character.

3ds is running on patch 1.1.3 and wii u is patch 1.1.4
Actually, the smash 3ds in this video is at 1.0.0(unpatched) not 1.1.3. (notice at 0:00 the lack of version numbers at the logo screen).

I'm still studying the asc more, i downloaded the 1.1.3 (via hacking methods) later and for my surprise i cannot tell the difference between 1.1.4 and 1.1.3. Right now i'm testing how ASC>bair connects on 1.0.0 and connects on 1.1.4
