You seem way too eager to do moves at times. Frames are a precious thing for Link that can't be wasted with extraneous movements. Link isn't fast and even his projectile spam needs to be careful. I saw a lot of arrows (particularly on cruise) and projectiles that seemed to be used just to use them.

That seems to come off harsher than it's supposed to. Just plan things out more carefully is what I'm trying to say. You had a brilliant jab -> jab -> upB prediction on him. It was glorious.

don't worry about being harsh. don't even bother trying to appologise or sugar coat your words. if i'm doing something wrong, point it out, and how I can fix it. I don't need to have my feelings taken in account for. (:

Well that was pretty much it, you're otherwise very solid and don't make any serious mistakes. Just cut down on anything that doesn't have a clear purpose. Arrows should not be shot just for the sake of arrows.

I might be being too nice. I'll fix that!

Are you completely converting to Link, or do you still play high tiers in some critical matchups?

Either way, since you used to be a Falco player, I'm glad to see that your interest in Link is slowly growing :p

I remember back in the 2006's, where there only used to be like 3 or 4 really good Link players, and the rest just coudln't quite fit with the rest of the cast and eventually lost interest in Link. I think people who are interestet in playing Link, should remember that Link obviously has a different playing style than most of the other characters. Take your time to examine and study Link's moves, strengths and weaknesses, and eventually even possible new strategies and such. There's no other character that gives you this kind of freedom with experimenting with your moves, he's just such a **** versatile character x)

Or simply put: I love Link x)
Oh and it's f***ing Link from the LOZ series btw, of course you'll want to main play him <3

So whatever happens, just don't give up, dear Link mains, always aim higher, and eventually one day, we'll see some Links placing Top 3 at a large touney =P

The main thing about my region is that anyone I'd beat with Falco, minus Sheik mains, I can pretty consistently beat with Link.

The problem people, Silly Kyle and Tag$(SV) I have the ABILITY to beat with Link, but generally favor using space animals.

People like Tai, Jetfour, GamerGuitarist7, Taj, Forward, and Axe are going to beat me regardless of who I use, so I'll stick to Link for the experience.

I'm playing Link to improve my Falco, whom I still main. I've gotten to the point where I have certain habits so imbedded into my system that I'm trying to force them out by learning, and playing a horrible character (Link.) I chose Link since he's the most similar to Falco out of the low tiers, and because his strengths and weaknesses are relevant to my own personal strengths and weaknesses as a Falco player.

As for the LOZ series, I'm honestly not a fan. I personally dislike OOT, and Majora's Mask. I never completed either due to boredom. The only LoZ games I honestly enjoy are Link's Awakening, my second-favorite hand-held game of all time, Link's Adventure, and A Link to The Past. As for Starfox, it's easily my favorite SNES game, and SF64 is easily my favorite N64 game, which reflects why I main both Fox and Falco.

As for Link's versatility I kinda disagree with you there. He has virtually no OOS game, and a huge portion of his movepool are unsafe except in extremely specific circumstances, and are generally inferior in comparison to his legitimately GOOD moves. His strategies are extremely simplistic and linear. Against any character that can CC to respectable percentages his entire strategy is "How can I safely get them over 50%, so that the rest of my movepool is actually viable?" Even correctly spaced, fair and jabs are punishable by most of the cast until just under 60% just by holding down, and toward Link.

Ranting aside; I do enjoy how Link plays. He puts a whole new spin on Falco, and how the game's played. I've played other low tiers in the past, but none of have them have clicked with me how Link does. I pretty much only use Falco vs Sheik now though.

Oh I see. Makes sense, makes sense...

However, Link is far from being a horrible character haha, really (he's bad though ^^). You don't need to have a decent OoS game to be considered a versatile character, of course, if your opponent starts pecking on your shield, there's not much you can do, depending on the character your opponent uses. What I meant was that Link has a lot of tools at his disposal that makes him look unique in his own way and allows you to play him the way you want. Two good examples would be f.ex. GERM's aggressive and technical Link, or Aniki's campy and basic style, just to name two classic Link mains. Link has at least one good option against most of his opponents: you have a boomerang and bombs that can lead into combos, fast jabs with good reach, very good shieldpressure, a high-priority NAir, a decent DTilt to counter CCs, a fast and reliable CC DSmash, a far reaching grab, a crazy good recovery,... and it goes on, I guess you just have to pick the right move haha

Of course he's somewhat laggy all arround and he's far from being a perfect character too, but that's not what I was praising ;P
My post's sole purpose was for encouragement only haha
And honestly, I got sooo used to it, it doesn't even bother me anymore when I play him x)

You gotta be careful though if you're still maining Falco. You might get a small new bad habbit called "frequent rolling" as you play Link, so I just hope that it won't carry over to your Falco xP

Link is garbage. He's just less ****ty than most of the low/negligable characters.

Germ really isn't that aggressive though, and Aniki really isn't campy. If you want to compare two different styles, look at the differences between HDL and Skler. Germ and Aniki being oldschool players play(ed) relatively similar, with Germ continuing to evolve since he wasn't a scrub like Aniki.

You were toting Link as a versatile character, so yes, having an OOS game is important. Without an OOS game you're LIMITED to rolling, or spot dodging. The only time you're able to spin attack, usmash, or nair is if they make a mistake, something I don't like to rely on. Link does have a lot of tools, but I also mentioned that for the first half of every stock, a huge portion of Link's movepool is either useless, or less than optimal, which is another limitation.

*Edit*

Tee Ay Eye finally got my Link matches up.

This describes my entire smash experience.
Minus the "i hate LOZ series" stuff.
But including the part about using falco vs sheik.

GG7 sandbagged the living hell out of me. Nothing new tbh.
You have the right prediction on your edge guards but you may wanna
rethink them because you let foxy back on the stage a few time, i don't mean that you have to kill him but you used moves that weren't going to work like the dair when he recovered. You kept good space away from him but you almost walked right into a gimp several times if the fox had a lil more XP against link he would know he could shine spike him like a mofo so be aware of this and don't be to excited to go offstage against him he's more dangerous than you are also when fox recovers high onto the stage at high percents you can probably land a grab and try to upthrow dair or dthrow upb something like that just take it into consideration.

You're welcome, Shaeman.

I need to find a tournament near me to go to. It's been forever! I need to hop on my nairplane and get me to a tournament.

Actually, I'll be visiting AZ during winter (the week of Christmas/after christmas). Any AZ people want to play some smash brothers?

Tucson's a 2-hour drive.

If you come on like a wednesday, you'd also get to meet V3ctorman, who lives in Sierra Vista, but makes the drive to Tucson Wednesday nights.

Or you gents could throw a "Skler is coming to Mother****ing Arizona" tournament in Phoenix.

I'm already flying over, don't make me drive two hours! Actually, if somebody could give me a ride it'd work...

There were some moments where you just needlessly jumped arround as If you were a Falcon lol. It's kinda risky with Link, you could have used that time to throw some projectiles f.ex. You have to stick as close to the ground as possible, and the only times you are jumping out you should either be throwing out a Nair or a projectile. Try to stick to the ground or a platform as much as possible and keep pressuring the opponent with projectiles (this works well against ICs f.ex. and really helps keeping the distance) and if you ever see a good opening to approach or punish, go for it and give him everything you've got (shield pressure, combos, mindgames, ...). Don't allow yourself to pull off a dumb move, always keep a wise, thoughtout move choice and a cool head (of course, these were only friendlies so you can experiment, but it's important nonetheless). Your Link's pretty smexy though, had some pretty moments and nice spacing against D1 =P

Hope it helped, I know I'm not particulary good in telling advice haha, but I hope that I helped at least ;P

iight I'll thread is kinda dying down and we haven't really been discussing much. With this tourney a couple days off I need mad help. Especially cuz I was beating by a kid who use to be one of midwest's finest 3 years ago but hasn't rlly played to much since. Stuck me with capt. I think it basically down to my reads. Uthrow n dthrow, I've been able to tech chase the big 3 (no not garnett, pierce n allen but fox, falco n falcon) quite easily, but kongo jungle is mad **** on me bcuz of the recovery. I've been relying on links bomb jump, but that's only been bout 40% efficient. Need sum advice on that n some vids. Does the barrel move on a set timer? Seems like if takes bout 8/9 secs to go all the way back n forth n stops comepletly every minute n twenty secs

i saw the one with ss you need to use some more of your items when facing cf i see u trying to go in and attack but cf is too fast and can combo too easily.on the good part i saw u try a few mind games dats good trying to confuse ur opponent. Im about to look at the others when i get time. But to wrap it up is pretty decent but if u work on spacing u wont get ***** like on fod.

It's too far away from where I live, and too close time-wise for me to even attempt to go. I'm attempting DGDTJ and G2 though.
Dang, yeah this pound is going to be the closest big tourney to where I live EVER.
It's in my state! And we don't do anything here! Ahh, well get someone to pay for your gas lol.

Honestly shaeman, that advice isn't that horrible, it's pretty much exactly what Skler says. Do your best to eliminate as many unnecessary movements as you possibly can from your game. Link isn't a fast character, and just about everything he does has huge windup.

I believe how fast you can act after you throw someone is entirely dependent on the weight of the character you throw.

It's the determining factor as to which characters Fox can uthrow uair, so I assume it would be the same for every character's throws. Also, try throwing a character like juggs in comparison to a character like samus, and notice the difference in when Link "recovers" from his throwing animation.
