Maybe his hair flip will be one of his stand-by animations.
hmm, i doubt it because he would have to put his sword away to do that.

I think it would make more sense if he just did a quick sword twirl like whenever he's locked on to an enemy in TP.

He could swish his hair... with his sword still in his hand... and accidentally chop his head off.

Usually it's easier to just uB, but it's so much more degrading for Link to go "ummm... swipe!".
It's such a halfassed attack, and it pwns characters so good.

Love love love it!

down tilt! when you land that on a fastfaller on thier last stock,it makes you feel all toasty inside and watch thier anger and laugh about :)

For those who haven't seen it yet: http://www.mlgpro.com/?q=node/168229

KillaOR said Link is immensely better. This slightly contradicts Gimpyfish's outtake on it, but it's good news, nonetheless.
At some points he doesn't really sound like he knows what he's talking about. I don't think he really played the game enough to understand it. I don't know how credible he is.

I have a question that for some reason won't stop picking at my head.

Does Link still have the Stab Illusion Combo?

By that I mean does he still stab like crazy when you tap A fast enough? I haven't seen any vidoes of him doing that yet.

Yeah, I watched over it again. He seems a bit confused on some issues. I guess I just got too excited when he said Link was way improved.

killaOR must've played the game for like 10 seconds, he makes the game sound like its melee speed but had a lag problem.

i mean... it's just like

its not very good impressions, i was really surprised upon watching it, it was as if he hadn't even really played the game

link is better, but he's not that much better

Regardless of what other people list Link as, I am going to use him anyway. It should be that way with you guys too, just pick a character that you want to play, don't pick one because a tier says one is the best. Sheesh, and to think I thought we were done arguing about a tier system...

KillaOR was right when he gave examples on how Link improved, but he was exaggerating on some parts.
Link is better, no doubt, but he wasn't drastically buffed in any way.

I think that the developers did a nice job on balancing out the characters. They all seem rather equal in abilities, and strengths and weaknesses. Except for Metaknight... neeeeeeerf!

Brawl Link > Melee Link > SSB64 Link
And that's all there is to it! ;)

Taunts
TP taunt
When: Only at the end of a match.
I'll say: Good game.
Navi taunt
When:
  1. After a KO
  2. At random moments
I'll say:
  1. Navi's analysis: You got twilight_pwned!
  2. Navi: "Hang in there, twilight_hero!"
Smash64 taunt
(Which I hate compared to the Melee taunt...)
When: After I get KOd
I'll say: HADOUKEN!

You can't go wrong with that. I mean, seriously.

@egruntz
Does Link still have the Illusion Stab technique? His standard combo follow-up, that is.

You have failed us, egruntz. You got my hopes up about two things. The purple costume, and the returning Melee taunt. If you're not careful, I'm gonna go ninja on yo momma's @$$.

Speaking of returning Melee taunts, I was thinking when I first heard about the triple-taunt...for the Smash64 vets, I thought they could have their Smash64 taunt, and their Melee taunt, and their Brawl taunt. 'course, that wouldn't work for Mario. Anyway...see ya all later...

Oh, yeah! I discovered that my neighbors have a Wi-Fi connection. Therefore, if I move the Wii right next to the window, I get a weak connection. I can play Brawl online! And now I can add all my friend's Wii numbers. Swiit!

Lol, clever. :)
As I said somewhere in this thread, the alternate costumes are ironically a blur to me. I'm for-sure that the costumes listed on the first post are correct, the purple costume I don't really remember, so I took it down. There still could be a purple costume, but "don't get your hopes up" ;o

The returning Melee taunt was simply "my bad", lol.
Though, as I said somewhere in this thread also, I swear I did it at E for All :embarrass
I really should have brought a notepad XD

As for the illusion jab, I'm not for sure on this one. And I really don't want to absolutely crush people's hearts again, so I'll leave it as an IDK ;o. I'm sure other Link players that went to E for All could tell you these things, so go hunt 'em down lol.

Everything I know is on that front post ;)

OMG. Just saw dark Link properly on the dojo updates page. I think I've died from the awesomeness.
Too bad they didn't show golden Link :(

This might be a silly question, but with more floatiness + a faster bow + no neutral B turnaround, I could see Link potentially being able to jump backward and shoot arrows as a safe spam method. Did any E 4 All attendees try anything like that?

Its not safe at all, cause people like my boy Sonic can outrun most projectiles in the game :)

it works on everyone else who doesnt have godly speed though

that will be such a godly maneuver. I'm now twice as psyched for brawl as I was 30 seconds ago.

Well, I don't think that would be that good. I mean, even Pit's bow isn't that spammable. I think Link is gonna have to throw bombs and boomerangs at the right places and at the right times, like in Melee. It's just that the bow can actually be used now. I think all of his projectiles will be used for setting up position, instead of actually hitting your opponent.

At least Link has been buffed up, in just about every aspect. From the videos, it looks like a lot of his moves have better start up time and it looks like Link is just more agile.

With three projectiles, Link should be able to get the opponent where he wants him.

If you're not fighting against a pro player, Link is quite a good player, especially in 4 player brawls.
Link is good even if he is against a pro. The only the thing is that you'll constantly be on the disadvantage. Generally, Link has to played a lot smarter than the higher tier characters.

How's the speed of his hookshot now?
Does it come out faster? And if you miss, does the lag end sooner?
And how's its range now? And how has the airdodge being removed effect his grapple/tether recovery?

  1. The same.
  2. Nope.
  3. Don't recall.
  4. About the same.
  5. The airdodge wasn't removed, it's just performed differently. Anyway, as explained in my first post, you can still tether recover after performing an airdodge, so nothing really changed. Though, you can't use directional airdodge like before, so it might be useless to even airdodge when you hookshot.

Ahh thanks for answering.
I heard somewhere that Links hookshot lag was a lot better than before. Guess it was wrong. =/
Yeah, I meant the directional one, since it really helped out in Melee to me.

Didn't you say that when you change costume the pattern of his shield will change? Well let me just go check the costume update...
=)

You can't even see the shields in the color changes update. Though, you can notice that even the swords change design and color.

+1 egruntz
