No, it doesn't work like that. I know because that's exactly what I said when I saw it.

You'll be asking for him to put a ring on it by next week. You're not attracted to women, that's how it works. :urg:

I'm surprised more people aren't "coming out" in this thread - what with all the new discoveries being made, and everyone leaving today.

it's not because it's flamboyant; it's because it's unquantifiably popular and is just plain fun.

Props to Meno for the re-introduction of the single ladies of smash pic.

There are lots of songs I blare. You'd best bet that "Everything" by Michael Buble, "Fighter" by Xtina and "Always Be My Baby" by Mariah Carey are among those who get this special treatment... and there's a rather large selection of spanish songs that get the same treatment :chuckle:

I'm sure it's fun, it's just not the kind of fun I like.

It'd probably be different if I was more into this type of music or singing, or had a hobby that endorsed either, but I'm not =P I'm listening to Illnath and watching UFC for godsakes :>

omg speaking of Mariah wasnt the Emacipation of Mimi the best album you've heard in a long time, I mean I could go through the whole album without skipping a single song. she nailed that 1 in my book... classic.

(spell check?).

Timbers, I approve of your taste in music.
<3

I'm not a huge metalhead or anything, but it's very energizing to listen to. Illnath's symphonic themes are yes to me as well. I'm heavy on DnB and alternative too, and Xsy is quickly making me want to open up into the indie genre.

go ahead, but first maybe describe what you mean by a little feminine >_>? I don't really like acting emotionally feminine (although there's those times), but physically, somewhat.
You don't count straighty.

first of all, i take offense to nearly nothing.
that's an issue when it come to being considerate.
my default assumption is that most other people would be hard to offend as well.
(false assumptions!!!!!)

if i called someone metrosexual and they're straight i assume they won't care.
but can that be offensive if the person is secretly or openly gay?

edit: i feel really ignorant posting this hear. lol

it really..shouldn't bother people, but there was a good example of how someone reacted to something like that a few pages back in this thread. To sum it up, he wanted to beat the **** out of anyone that used gay (or anything like it) in a negative tone towards him, because he was closeted.

well "metrosexual" and "gay" aren't exactly the same. lol
i'm not using it as an insult or anything like that.

random scenario: person A is secretly gay, while person B is not in on that secret.
B, "i'd consider you metrosexual"
A, "WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?! GRRRR ARGH!!!!!"
lol idk where i'm going with this.

I think if i was a closeted not-straight guy I'd rather be called metro than I would gay.

I still don't think that the "T" should really be in LGBT. LGB is a matter of sexuality, while the T is a matter of gender identity totally independent of the other three.

Just the same... hi, everyone! :)

I know, it's all a matter of semantics. After all, "A rose by any other name," and all that. :bee:

Here's an example.

John Doe is a boy. He's a Transgender M->F
Females like dudes. Technically, he's gay.

Of course, this isn't always the case. But in some instances, it is! Thus we include the T in our ranks.

She wouldn't see it as such Xsyven; she'd actually be offended that you referred to her as a gay man. Technically she's always seen herself as a woman and, if she goes all the way through with the operation, she practically is, to refer to her as a "gay man" kinda goes against the whole point of being a transexual.

you're not alone in that thought. a lot of the proponents for gay rights think that LGBT groups should just be LGB groups and Ts should have their own group for exactly the reason that you said. (LGB defines non-standard sexual orientation whereas T is about gender identity. A completely different problem altogether.)

Furthermore, transexuals are far less accepted by society so some even think that associating in such a way hurts the chances for gays to get what we want as far as rights because it makes us seem even farther away from mainstream.

The other side of the argument is that homosexuals undergo a lot of the same problems and prejudices as transexuals and that it's a good thing to be supportive of other people, even if they aren't the same as us. Add to that that transexuals are much more rare so it'd be a lot harder for them to have their own supoort group.

I see both sides of the argument as equally true. So, luckily, I don't really care about such things.

I know it's not the same thing at all, it's just that they're going through a lot of the same stuff we are-- just even moreso. So like, I dunno, they just seem to fit in.

I don't see why they shouldn't. Gender identity is just as crazy as gender attraction.

Transgendered people that are born one gender aren't considered that gender by the specialists in the psychological and medical communities. Not to mention the fact that many trans people tend to take a good deal of insult to the claim. It makes a mockery of an extremely long, costly, and heart-wrenching process of changing that gender identity. To say the VERY least, pronouns and gender associations are changed once someone adopts that gender role. If this hypothetical person is an MTF that likes males, she would be considered a heterosexual female.

Your assertion that "females like dudes" makes several ridiculous assumptions; so much so that I'd consider the possibility that you meant it tongue-in-cheek. First, you're assuming the person in question likes boys in addition to being transgendered. And second, your premise that females like dudes is faulty. Hence, the "L" in LGB.

As STH reiterated, gender identity is independent of sexuality. And by that I mean that although they face unfair criticism from similar places ultra-conversative whack-jobs and repressed hatemongers, they really don't have any specific connection. Like, you could call it LGBS for lesbian-gay-bisexual-Samoan, or LGBR for lesbian-gay-bisexual-Republicans (well, on the other hand...). I certainly have no MAJOR objection to the combination, but again, the final term is just out of place for someone that's more than a casual observer.

Hope I'm not causing a huge outcry with all this. Like I said, we're all people and individuals, so there's really no sense worrying about arbitrary labels as it is. I was merely thinking out loud.

...Or, that is... thinking and typing those thoughts on the computer, hehe.

so is hating bacon. but it's not LGB & Bacon haters... just a devil's-advocate exaggeration.

you're completely correct, the question is, SHOULD we drop the "T" ? For political purposes and matters of pedantic semantics, it only makes sense, but for the purposes of this thread (a supportive environment) I say no merely because it shows the very exclusion we are trying to combat.

hello

i think they should stay just the same. Also i hear sometimes they flip flop like bisexuals, cause on trans man F-M i was talking to he said that usually he like the ladies, but everyonce in a while he'll be liking boys again. Then i also think LGBT is more filling then LGB.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I was certainly not trying to redefine anything or make any radical changes. After all, "LGBT" is a fairly common acronym at this point, and it would be pointless to change it here when everyone else knows it as-is.

I was mostly just making an observation just to break the ice a little. :bee:

What does that have to do with him being transgendered?

I'd be surprised if there were very many other "T's" here besides me, hehe. But it's still wonderful to be a part of the group. :bee:

(Of course, I'm also partially "B," so I'd be here anyway. )
