This will appear floating slightly above the ground anyone can pick them up and picking one up summons a random persona that performs a single powerful ability.

Potential Abilities

Agi - A Blast of Fire is sent forwards
Agilao - A Strong Cone of Fire is sent forwards
Zio - A Bolt of lighting strikes an opponent
Mazio - A bolt of lightning strikes each opponent
Garu - Some wind damages an opponent and sends them upwards
Magarula - Several Powerful Gusts of wind appear.
Bufu - A random opponent is frozen
Mabufudyne - Every opponent is damaged and frozen
Hama - A random opponent has a 25% chance of instantly being KO'd
Eiha - A small blast of dark damage is sent forwards
Megido - A ball of Almighty damage falls onto the stage
Dia -The User is healed
Mediarama - The User and their teammates are fully restored
Tarukaja - The User's damage is increased
Tarunda - An opponents damage is lowered.

For those not in the know, Sega created this strange ring like controller as one of the first virtual reality controllers. It worked by shooting infrared beams upwards that would register any time they were broken to decide what move was used.

In Battle of Ages players can throw the ring down like a proximity mine. Any fighter who accidentally stumbles into the ring will suddenly find themselves trapped by the lasers that shoot upwards.

The hapless victim will be unable to move for a brief period allowing their opponents to prepare a powerful attack to 'help free them'.

In Shinobi (2002) and Nightshade, scrolls are limited items that allow the player to use one of three strong abilities peruse. Originally, you need a trained ninja to read this, let alone use it to cast ninjutsu but where's the fun in that?

In this game, any character who reaches one of these first will use Ka'en, a fiery area of effect spell that burns anyone and anything in its range aka big bomb magic. However, this move will be activated in seconds after you get the scroll so it's in your best interest to place yourself somewhere you'll cause the most destruction as possible. Keep in mind that while your character will be immune to the fire damage caused by this move if you accidentally set off any explosives, you're gonna have a bad time.

The favorite food of Aiai and friends, these delicious Dole™️ branded fruits are the main collectables throughout the Monkey Ball franchise. When consumed, the banana restores a tiny bit of health while leaving behind a peel that the player can throw on the ground for opponents to slip on. This is a very simple item and I know osby pitched this one a while back, but this just makes way too much sense not to include.

Son of Janken the Great, Ashra was put in charge of ruling Planet Paper-Rock whilst his father went off to invade Alex Kidd's home planet of Aries. Ashra is said to be responsible for popularising a specific type of Janken game upon the planet, one that is essentially strip Rock-Paper-Scissors. He wears only a loin cloth, which can be seen as a boast of his impressive skills at the game...or it might be that he's got six arms and can cheat his way to a victory.
Rumour has it he has kidnapped King Thunder, Alex Kidd and Egle's father, causing Alex to pay Paper-Rock a visit to save him.

Sometimes known by his alternative nickname Tab, Corn is a founding member of the GG's. Corn starts off by challenging Beat to follow his moves. Upon Beat proving he can do so, Corn admits that he guesses Beat is cool and, alongside Gum, they form the GG's together.
In Jet Set Radio Future, Corn is now the leader of the GG's and alongside Gum is a founding member. His status as a self styled genius is proven as he manages to reprogramme and build Roboy from a scrapped Noise Tank unit he found in the junkyard. Allegedly Roboy's arrogant personality is also inherited from Corn.

aw hell yeah it's boss submission time. Just one more job before our next character job, and boss jobs are always good ones to pull out before then.

You can submit a boss from any SEGA property that doesn't have a boss yet. So no bosses from Sonic, Virtua Fighter, NiGHTS or Gunstar Heroes.

Neff is main Antagonist of Altered Beast game and he is ruler/god of Underworld. In the Game, he kidnapped Athena and resurrected Centurion needs to save her before it's too late. In original arcade game, he was a God of Underworld that looked like a Monster, but in Wreck-it Ralph, it changed to Purple Rhino (Van Vader) form. He is even final boss of the Game itself when you enter the last stage.
He later appeared in Wreck-it Ralph as cameo during "Bad-anon meeting" scene.

The Fight takes place at his Arena from last stage of Altered Beast, which is completely City of Dis (The last stage of Altered Beast).
His theme is Final Boss theme from Altered Beast (Arcade).

His design is Based on Altered Beast design (God) and Wreck-it Ralph version (Rhino), which he is a Evil God, but he turns into Rhino before battle.
His Boss attacks in First phase:
  • Rhino Punch - Neff punches very hard with knockback.
  • Rhino Dash - Neff charges at opponent with great force.
  • Rhino Slam - Neff slams with ground pound at Player with huge damage.
  • Rhino Kick - Neff kicks with strong damage.

At second phase, he's now shape-shifting into first 4 Bosses from Altered Beast:
  • Head throw - Neff transforms into Aggar and throws Heads at Player and later turns himself into Rhino after this attack.
  • Eye Shot - Neff turns into Octeyes and fire the Eyes into Player. You can Deflect eyes. He can be stunned sometimes if you stun him with Attack. After the attack, he turns into Rhino.
  • Green Stream - Neff turns into Moldy Snail and shoots a Streem of green goo that poisons the Player. After that, he turns into Rhino form.
  • Fire Ball spit - Neff turns into Crocodile Worm and spits fireballs at Player with Fire Effect. You can Deflect balls. After that he turns into Rhino, again.
  • Demon Summon - Neff in Crocodile Form summons red demons to attack the Player. The demons can be KOed.

And if you defeat him, he will turn into God form and he dies, lying on the floor. After his defeat, you basically win.

I nominate Neff for Boss, because his boss fight could be Iconic and he could fit in Unnamed Story Mode and Arcade Mode. He could represent Altered Beast in Franchise as Boss Character. Don't forget that he is iconic character in SEGA and he could appear as Boss like I said earlier.
Besides that, his Iconic Rhino fits him well into the boss battle.

The main villian of the Streets of Rage series. A powerful criminal. He acts as the major antagonist for all three original Streets of Rage games. His legacy plays a big part in the plot of the most recent game.

In Battle of Ages, he would act like a classic beat em up boss. Players would enter his arena, where he sits on his chair and laughs. He would summon enemies to attack the player. And eventually he will jump into battle himself. He is a heavy fighter, and uses his machine gun to mow down fighters.

Arahabaki (Sakura Wars)



The arena would resemble that of the fight in game, it is a cave with industrial and flaming parts, in the background you can also see Arahabaki's controller, Orobo.

Arahabaki would start by flying around the background and occasionally cutting into the foreground, Arahabaki's attacks look similar but have different functions

Beam: A Very tall vertical beam would be shot forward onto the stage
Beam Shield: beams of light would start circling arahabaki, touching them damages you
Homing Laser: Arahabaki shoots a laser at an opponent
Grab: Arahabaki would grab the player and crush them
Beam Volley: Many Beams would be shot forward in a row
Laser Volley: Many lasers would cut across the stage

Once you deal enough Damage to Arahabaki when it is flying it will then crash into the ground where you can deal more damage, it will then awaken and return to the flying phase.

Z-Gradt (Virtual-On)



The Z-Gradt is a recurring boss who appears in the Virtual On series. It serves as the security robot guarding the Moongate and its Solar Cannon. Because it has a very strong defense, it has a very high HP meter.

There are 5 weapons the Z-Gradt attacks with:
- Ring Lasers - Z-Gradt fires a rapid stream of double-ringed concentric ring lasers its four "VR head turrets".
- Beam Guns - Mounted on the top of Z-Gradt's "shoulders" are a pair of turrets, each with a rapid-fire beam gun. As they fire, the turrets follow the player.
-F-Mines - The launching units on the far ends of Z-Gradt's "shoulders" fires swarms of target-seeking F-Mines, again similar to the Bal-Bas-Bow's.
-Phalanx - Z-Gradt's shoulder launchers fire in multiple directions at a time. This weapon is typically used in conjunction with F-Mines
-Particle Cannon - Z-Gradt's strongest weapon, a powerful particle beam cannon. As it fires, the turret also follows the opponent. However, the Z-Gradt is heavily vulnerable to attack after it uses the particle cannon.

Job #145: Riemsianne (Shining Force)

Well well, what do we have here? Very impressive. I don't think a human has ever gotten this far in the dungeon before.


Riemsianne is the Queen of Fyrlandt and a powerful spell caster who acts as the main antagonist of the 2007 action RPG game Shining Force EXA. She also makes an appearance in Project X Zone. Despite having good intentions for her state and being able to maintain her composure against her opponents, Riemsianne is nevertheless a dangerous person to make enemies with due to her excellent battle process and talent in manipulating people.

Similar to a famous SEGA boss, Riemsianne fights almost exclusively with fire. In this game, she will be a decently mobile boss with a small stature but moderately high stamina. She can fly around the stage but usually stays in place when she's attacking and not teleporting. Her arena is a volcanic dungeon with high walls and small lava pits at the sides. Her moves include;

Spark Breath: Riemsianne blows a kiss and sends a torrent of lightning bolts from her hand. Only goes horizontal but travels the entire length of her arena.​
Blazing Feather: Riemsianne flaps her wings and sends a volley of fireballs in a fan motion. This attack can be sent in all directions depending on the player's position.​
Gaia Nova: Riemsianne raises her hand and slams it to the ground, meteor smashing anyone close to her during her descent. Upon contact, she creates a large, fiery explosion on the ground and hits multiple times, and leaves a trail of flames behind.​
Hellbolt: Riemsianne creates a whip made of lightning and swings it a few times in front of her, teleporting after each strike if her health is low. If it catches a foe, she electrocutes them before throwing them with enough force to wall slam.​
Hellfire of Purgatory: Only used if her stamina is low. Riemsianne opens her palm and rapidly fires a large number of weak flame projectiles. She then closes her wings and creates a large windbox around her that sucks everything inside. If not dealt with, she will form a huge tornado of flames around her that can eat through even the more resilient fighters' stamina.​

The new ruler of Planet Paperock, the planet Janken the Great hails from, after Alex Kidd subsequently defeats the invading Janken and puts a permenant end to him in Miracle World.

Ashra is the main antagonist of Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle and is believed by Alex to be the man behind his father, King Sander(or Thor in this game)'s disappearance.

Ashra is rather large. Whilst no where near Perfect Chaos' size I'd say he'd tower over our current fighters with ease.
Whilst it's hard to accurately guess his size thanks to the small sprite style of Alex Kidd titles, his size in the games is comparable to Janken's size in the original games, so working backwards I'd imagine he'd be about this size:

As for what Ashra can actually do:

Ashra is capable of regrowing his limbs, which is very useful since one of his main attacks is a long range rocket punch, where his arm shoots off his body to attack you. With six arms at his disposal, all of which move rapidly around his body to defend himself.

Whilst he doesn't perform such moves in Enchanted Castle due to the games very simplistic nature, the fact he has six arms is bound to give him lots of creative holds, grabs and throws.

Lastly he is known as the greatest Janken player on a planet of Janken players, meaning he's just as proficient in Rock Paper Scissors style fighting as Alex Kidd himself(albeit without the Shellcore martial arts that allow him to grow his limbs to insane sizes). He should also be able to use all three styles of punching, palm strikes and fingers stabs simultaneously thanks to his additional limbs allowing for some devastating attacks.

Warning, this spoils the very ending of Enchanted Castle...and it's...not a great ending. Watch only up until 0:55 if you want to see JUST the boss fight with Ashra.

You know I had to submit another Alex Kidd character.

As pointed out above, Janken is unfortunately already an assist, but his son (yes, this is Janken's son according to the Japanese manual, not really a strong family resemblance, huh?) is a perfectly good antagonist who will be able to fill in the role of a heavy-weight role whilst adding another antagonist to the roster.
Whilst Janken is straight up your typical villain dictator, conquering planets and the like, Ashra is someone who likes to try and be intimidating, but is actually pretty timid under all that bravado he uses to prop himself up, as seen when Alex defeats him at the end of Enchanted Castle.

Ashra has a few unique abilities going for him. Obviously he has six arms, allowing him to pull off grapple combinations no one else on the roster would be able to at this point as well as fantastic melee strikes, but he also had the ability to launch his arms off his body like a missile projectile before instantly growing said arms back. Naturally, he would also use Rock, Paper and Scissors as specialist attacks, something I negated to give Alex Kidd in his moveset outside the All-Star move.

Ashra is also responsible for popularising Yakyuken upon Planet Paper-Rock - a Rock, Paper, Scissors variant game which involves the loser losing an item of clothing. Due to wearing very little, it's clear he's very confident in his skills...he does have six arms after all in which to succeed.

In the Western version of Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, rather than being stripped, a huge 100t weight will fall upon the loser, crushing them flat. Ashra would likely incorporate that into his moveset. This may sound familiar to those who played Sega Superstars Tennis where it was Alex's All-Star move.

Ashra's easily a lesser known character than the majority of other suggestions here, but with his six arms, ability to regenerate limbs, rocket punch projectile fists, cartoon-like weight drops, wrestler physique and bravado personality, I think he could make for a very entertaining fighter overall.

Your fighter has just made it through their stage. You managed to pull off a confident win and you're feeling pretty good about yourself.

Suddenly you hear a chorus strike up.
The sound is powerful.
You feel the slightest bit tense as you grip the controller.
It sounds familiar but you're not sure why.
The chorus begins to swell and you notice your hand isn't as steady as it was before the music began.
Your body is already reacting to what you're about to face next instinctively.
Your palms begin to form a noticeable layer of sweat, and you can feel your heart pounding...and then you hear those words.

The words that may be the last thing your fighter hears.

"Sega-ta Sanshiro, Sega-ta Sanshiro! Sega Saturn...shiro!"

Your eyes widen as your heart beats thrice as fast, adreneline coursing through your veins.

Fear.

The realisation that you are a mere prey animal facing off against the deadliest of predators. The man you are about to face, nay, the demon you are about to face does not show pity, nor does it show remorse.

Your fighter stands there, blissfully unaware of how much pain is about to be inflicted on them as you instinctively force them to jump back to stay out of his range...but you know in your heart it is far too late. Your fate has been sealed. You're about to become the victim of...

Job #145: Segata Sanshiro

For those unaware, Segata Sanshiro was a marketing mascot used to promote the Sega Saturn using an actor playing a parody of a legendary judo fighter from a 1943 film; Sanshiro Sugata.

Segata would be used in dozens of adverts for Sega, where he would most commonly beat the absolute hell out of his opponents for not playing Sega Saturn. No one was safe. Men, women, children. All of them put in choke holds or thrown over his mighty shoulders, although it is worth noting Segata would also play a hero of sorts, saving a woman from a burning building in the advertisement for Burning Rangers, being a love interest of sorts for Sakura Shinguji in the Sakura Wars advertisement, fighting off zombies in The House of the Dead advertisements and even prevent Sega HQ from being blown up by a missile by using his incredible strength to stop it mere inches from the building and redirect it, along with himself, into space where it exploded, presumably killing him.

Segata also has had several video game appearances himself, including Project X Zone 2, Rent-a-Hero and his very own game, a Japanese exclusive known as Segata Sanshirō Shinken Yūgi. He also has a cameo in Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed as seen here.

Segata recently reappeared, very much not dead in 2020's Sega 60 anniversary commercials where his son, Sega Shiro must take on a mysterious rival 'Sega Hatan Shiro' which is revealed to be Segata in disguise. Sega Shiro is played by Segata Sanshiro's actor, Hiroshi Fujioka's, real life son.

So enough history lesson, what on earth does Segata do?

Segata will appear on screen carrying a giant Sega Saturn. He will remove it before the fight, letting it drop to the floor. The entire screen will shake from the sheer weight of the giant Sega Saturn.

Segata's abilities include:
  • Throwing opponents so hard they explode upon impact (Saturn Bomberman Fight! advert)
  • The ability to lift many times his own weight with great ease (General Saturn advert)
  • A rapid punch attack when opponent have been thrown, trained by practicing with a giant Sega Saturn controller (General Saturn advert).
  • A rolling bear hug across the ground with his opponent (Sakura Wars advert)
  • He can headbutt the opponent so hard they end up embedded in the floor like a tentpeg (Solo Crisis advert)
  • The ability to kick back projectiles (Greatest Nine 98)
  • The ability to clone himself to send several mini Segata Sanshiro's forwards, rushing opponents down (Dragon Force II advert)
  • Disguising himself as Santa and pelting people in the face with Christmas gifts (likely Sega Saturns) from a distance. (Christmas advert mixed with Segata Sanshiro Shinken Yugi)
  • And of course, deflecting giant missiles with his bare hands, and redirecting them into the opponent, which he will do after taking enough damage.
How to fight Segata Sanshiro:
You don't. You run.
Not actually inaccurate.

Getting up close to Segata is ill advised unless you've managed to somehow stun him. He specialises in powerful grapples, throws and grapple combos so getting close is ill-advised. If he grabs you once he may throw you to the floor, following up with his rapid downed opponent punch and burying you in the floor with a mighty headbutt.

Careful hit and run and projectile based tactics work best against him, but be warned he can reflect projectiles if performing a mighty kick.

To try and close the gap on you, Segata will chase after you, cloning himself and sending mini Segata's to attempt to slow you down. This is a man who can outrun a ice skating pro on ice with his bare feet though, so try to be always moving whenever you can.

If you somehow manage to harm Segata enough to get him down to 25% of his original HP, he will change tactics, catching and throwing missiles at you from a distance. The most efficient way to damage Segata during this stage is to attack the missiles he's holding with a projectile to chip away at his health.

Upon being defeated, Segata will prepare a sushi dish for the fighter and give a big thumbs up of approval at their improvement.

Additional notes:
If facing off against Sakura Shinguji, cherry blossoms will appear across the screen and Segata's attacks will seem more playful and less aggressive in their animation. Unfortunately for Sakura, whilst his bear hug attack will now be rose tinted with cherry blossoms and hearts, it still deals damage and is merely an aesthetic change.

There is a 1/10 chance that the giant Sega Saturn strapped to Segata's back will be replaced by Saturn, the Sega Hard Girl. She still falls to the floor with immense weight, although will get up and walk off with her eyes spinning if it is her.

Whilst Segata isn't 'evil', he's still a boss worthy character due to his incredible strength and status as a superhuman hero capable of incredible physical feats.

Some may argue that Segata fits better in a fighter role but...come on, that's hardly fair to the rest of the fighters. This man could solo the entire Sega universe with a single pinky finger and we know it. He's very much the Sega equivalent of Team Fortress 2's Saxton Hale, capable of destroying every known being if he really tried.

I'm going to re-nominate Jubileus - it might not be especially original of me, but given how insane/over-the-top the action in Bayonetta gets, I feel like a boss would be the best way to get that across, and Jubileus is probably the most over-the-top example in the series. (Aesir was tough, but not quite on par with the scale of Jubileus)

The link at the start of the post that I'm quoting is footage of her boss fight - I realize that I didn't make that clear originally, but I wanted to include it so people who hadn't played Bayonetta 1 had a reference for what she could do.

Jubileus (Bayonetta)



The final boss of Bayonetta 1 - the Bayonetta series is known for being absolutely over-the-top in just about every way imaginable, and its bosses are no exception to that.

Jubileus towers over the fighters, the stages, and most other bosses - the stage is similar to Final Destination, taking place on a large flat rock that Jubileus occasionally summons in her later phases for the player to use as platforms. Jubileus will hover in the background of the stage, trying to punch at you - during this part of the fight, she can only be hit if you dodge her punches and counter attack, but she's not vulnerable for very long.

Occasionally, she will float further into the background, stabbing into the stage with the ribbons that adorn her body. These ribbons will fire missiles, and stay stabbed into the stage until they're attacked enough times - attacking these will damage Jubileus's health bar.

Once they've been attacked enough, the ribbon will shatter, causing Jubileus to be dragged back on-screen, stunned and woozy - at this point, she can be attacked directly for massive damage. As more ribbons are damaged, the background will change, and Jubileus's attacks will change accordingly:

-Space: where the fight starts out and finishes - Jubileus uses the above attacks (changes to Volcano after the first two ribbons are destroyed)
-Volcano: Jubileus's punches create geysers of lava on either side of them, making them harder to counter, and the ribbons shoot fireballs which move faster but don't hit as hard (changes to Blizzard after the third ribbon is destroyed)
-Blizzard: the ribbons shoot balls of ice that freeze whoever they hit, and icicles will occasionally fall from the sky (changes to Tornado after the fourth ribbon is destroyed)
-Tornado: the ribbons shoot balls of electricity which stun the player, lightning strikes the stage (indicated with yellow circles before the bolts hit), and the stage will be broken into three smaller platforms (changes back to Space after the fifth ribbon is destroyed)

Once the fight has returned to space, it's near the end, though now Jubileus will also throw galaxy-like spiraling disks at you, which move erratically and give you something else to dodge in addition to the punches. Much like Master Hand, Jubileus can only take so much damage while she's stunned before she's immune.

The final hit (after the sixth ribbon has been destroyed and her health bar has been depleted - she's permanently stunned once the sixth ribbon is destroyed, though much like Master Core, taking too long to beat her causes her to use an instant-kill attack) triggers a cutscene where Jubileus's soul is knocked out of her body and sent hurtling towards the sun, ending the fight.

Your fighter has just made it through their stage. You managed to pull off a confident win and you're feeling pretty good about yourself.

Suddenly you hear a chorus strike up.
The sound is powerful.
You feel the slightest bit tense as you grip the controller.
It sounds familiar but you're not sure why.
The chorus begins to swell and you notice your hand isn't as steady as it was before the music began.
Your body is already reacting to what you're about to face next instinctively.
Your palms begin to form a noticeable layer of sweat, and you can feel your heart pounding...and then you hear those words.

The words that may be the last thing your fighter hears.

"Sega-ta Sanshiro, Sega-ta Sanshiro! Sega Saturn...shiro!"

Your eyes widen as your heart beats thrice as fast, adreneline coursing through your veins.

Fear.

The realisation that you are a mere prey animal facing off against the deadliest of predators. The man you are about to face, nay, the demon you are about to face does not show pity, nor does it show remorse.

Your fighter stands there, blissfully unaware of how much pain is about to be inflicted on them as you instinctively force them to jump back to stay out of his range...but you know in your heart it is far too late. Your fate has been sealed. You're about to become the victim of...

Job #145: Segata Sanshiro

For those unaware, Segata Sanshiro was a marketing mascot used to promote the Sega Saturn using an actor playing a parody of a legendary judo fighter from a 1943 film; Sanshiro Sugata.

Segata would be used in dozens of adverts for Sega, where he would most commonly beat the absolute hell out of his opponents for not playing Sega Saturn. No one was safe. Men, women, children. All of them put in choke holds or thrown over his mighty shoulders, although it is worth noting Segata would also play a hero of sorts, saving a woman from a burning building in the advertisement for Burning Rangers, being a love interest of sorts for Sakura Shinguji in the Sakura Wars advertisement, fighting off zombies in The House of the Dead advertisements and even prevent Sega HQ from being blown up by a missile by using his incredible strength to stop it mere inches from the building and redirect it, along with himself, into space where it exploded, presumably killing him.

Segata also has had several video game appearances himself, including Project X Zone 2, Rent-a-Hero and his very own game, a Japanese exclusive known as Segata Sanshirō Shinken Yūgi. He also has a cameo in Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed as seen here.

Segata recently reappeared, very much not dead in 2020's Sega 60 anniversary commercials where his son, Sega Shiro must take on a mysterious rival 'Sega Hatan Shiro' which is revealed to be Segata in disguise. Sega Shiro is played by Segata Sanshiro's actor, Hiroshi Fujioka's, real life son.

So enough history lesson, what on earth does Segata do?

Segata will appear on screen carrying a giant Sega Saturn. He will remove it before the fight, letting it drop to the floor. The entire screen will shake from the sheer weight of the giant Sega Saturn.

Segata's abilities include:
  • Throwing opponents so hard they explode upon impact (Saturn Bomberman Fight! advert)
  • The ability to lift many times his own weight with great ease (General Saturn advert)
  • A rapid punch attack when opponent have been thrown, trained by practicing with a giant Sega Saturn controller (General Saturn advert).
  • A rolling bear hug across the ground with his opponent (Sakura Wars advert)
  • He can headbutt the opponent so hard they end up embedded in the floor like a tentpeg (Solo Crisis advert)
  • The ability to kick back projectiles (Greatest Nine 98)
  • The ability to clone himself to send several mini Segata Sanshiro's forwards, rushing opponents down (Dragon Force II advert)
  • Disguising himself as Santa and pelting people in the face with Christmas gifts (likely Sega Saturns) from a distance. (Christmas advert mixed with Segata Sanshiro Shinken Yugi)
  • And of course, deflecting giant missiles with his bare hands, and redirecting them into the opponent, which he will do after taking enough damage.
How to fight Segata Sanshiro:
You don't. You run.
Not actually inaccurate.

Getting up close to Segata is ill advised unless you've managed to somehow stun him. He specialises in powerful grapples, throws and grapple combos so getting close is ill-advised. If he grabs you once he may throw you to the floor, following up with his rapid downed opponent punch and burying you in the floor with a mighty headbutt.

Careful hit and run and projectile based tactics work best against him, but be warned he can reflect projectiles if performing a mighty kick.

To try and close the gap on you, Segata will chase after you, cloning himself and sending mini Segata's to attempt to slow you down. This is a man who can outrun a ice skating pro on ice with his bare feet though, so try to be always moving whenever you can.

If you somehow manage to harm Segata enough to get him down to 25% of his original HP, he will change tactics, catching and throwing missiles at you from a distance. The most efficient way to damage Segata during this stage is to attack the missiles he's holding with a projectile to chip away at his health.

Upon being defeated, Segata will prepare a sushi dish for the fighter and give a big thumbs up of approval at their improvement.

Additional notes:
If facing off against Sakura Shinguji, cherry blossoms will appear across the screen and Segata's attacks will seem more playful and less aggressive in their animation. Unfortunately for Sakura, whilst his bear hug attack will now be rose tinted with cherry blossoms and hearts, it still deals damage and is merely an aesthetic change.

There is a 1/10 chance that the giant Sega Saturn strapped to Segata's back will be replaced by Saturn, the Sega Hard Girl. She still falls to the floor with immense weight, although will get up and walk off with her eyes spinning if it is her.

Whilst Segata isn't 'evil', he's still a boss worthy character due to his incredible strength and status as a superhuman hero capable of incredible physical feats.

Some may argue that Segata fits better in a fighter role but...come on, that's hardly fair to the rest of the fighters. This man could solo the entire Sega universe with a single pinky finger and we know it. He's very much the Sega equivalent of Team Fortress 2's Saxton Hale, capable of destroying every known being if he really tried.
Segata would be cool candidate for being a Final boss of the game.
I think he would act like Master Hand/Polygon man.

I was gonna come up with something else for this round but uhhhhh I’ve been way too busy this week to do a new write up so here’s the Funny Virus again.
Job #145: Aletheia (Trauma Center)



Aletheia is one of multiple strains of the neo-GUILT pathogen, which in turn was developed from the artificial disease GUILT. Unlike the original GUILT disease which was used for acts of bio-terrorism, neo-GUILT is sold by a pharmecutical company as a miracle medicine that can enhance the body. However, Neo-GUILT still attacks the body in the same ways its predecessor does, proving itself to still be a threat to peoples’ lives. Alethia specifically halts the host’s aging process and gains full control over their body once it infects them. It is the final strain of Neo-GUILT that the player has to confront and remove from the host’s body.

That’s right, in a game that features an ancient water monster and all-powerful evil nightmare wizard as bosses, my boss pitch is a mother****ing disease. Granted it’s a powerful body-altering disease, but still, not something that would usually transfer well into a fighting game boss fight. At least, so it seems. You see, Trauma Center isn’t just a normal surgery simulator, so extracting diseases isn’t as simple as it might seem. Alethia specifically can call upon other strains of GUILT to protect itself and prevent Derek Stiles from making any progress. Basically, imagine if a tumor was a Touhou boss and that’s your average Trauma Center boss fight. It’s more than capable of defending itself, so there’s plenty to pull from for a moveset. Also, one of the main things that prompted me to submit Aletheia because somebody I know put it in their fan roster as a fighter a while back, and the idea of it making its way into this project in any capacity has lived rent-free in my head ever since.

So how do you adapt this into a boss fight? First off, we’re going full Osmosis Jones with this **** and having the fight take place inside the host’s body. Basically, the setup here is you’re helping fight the disease on the inside while Dr. Stiles (or if he gets added as a fighter, one of the other surgeons from New Blood) is doing his surgery thing on the outside. The boss theme will be Severing the Chains of Fate from Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2. Aletheia is attached to the heart, and there will be a single platform under it. While this means Aletheia will remain stationary for the entire boss fight, that doesn’t mean it’ll be vulnerable the whole time. When Aletheia’s eye is closed, you won’t be able to do any damage to it. In order to expose Aletheia’s weak spot, you need to take out the other strains of GUILT that it summons. After you’ve defeated each wave of GUILT, Aletheia’s eye will open, leaving it vulnerable to attacks for a short period of time before it closes again and begins summoning more GUILT strains. Here’s a rundown of all the GUILT Aletheia can summon:
  • Kyriaki - The first GUILT that Aletheia summons. Four of this strain will surround Aletheia in a diamond-shaped rotation, creating lacerations in the heart and dealing damage to anyone caught in their way. Whenever one of these is defeated, the cuts created will be stitched right back up.
  • Nous - A few of this strain will surround Aletheia in a circular motion and create three tumors inside the body. These tumors must be removed in the exact order they were created before fighting the disease itself. If you attack the tumors out of order or knock out a Nous before taking care of them, the tumors will create a large explosion and deal major damage.
  • Pempti - Five of these will move around Aletheia sporadically and create polyps. While they won’t deal any direct damage to you, the lasers pointing at them to remove them will hurt you. It’s best to stay out of their way if a laser is aimed towards one.
  • Sige - A few of these guys will circle around Aletheia and release gas clouds that damage the player.
  • Tetarti - These three go around Aletheia in a triangular motion and release a toxic mist that chips away at the player’s health.
  • Bythos - A bunch of this strain will quickly circle around Aletheia, dealing damage to anyone who comes in their way. For the brief time that they’re stationary, the player will be able to freely hit them.

Dark Falz, also known as the Dark Force, is the personification of evil and main antagonist in the Phantasy Star series. He appears in every single Phantasy Star game in some form, sometimes possessing major characters, sometimes as a cult of followers, sometimes as a cosmic horror.

As a boss I see him as being something of a fusion between his classic form and the Dark Falz [LOSER] secret boss in Phantasy Star Online 2, lurking in the background and throwing massive hands that can clear the stage but also have a hurtbox. He also has lightning spells and beams with huge hitboxes, just a real mean ol' monster.

He would have several forms based on incarnations throughout the games both classic and new and Online too, as the first would be the slightly more humanoid form similar to PSO2, the next a beastly animalistic creature, the third an ancient dragon as in the portable games, and the last a many tentacled cosmic horror that attacks with elemental spells and, well, darkness, straight out of Phantasy Star IV.

I'll link a few cool boss fights to give you some old and new context as to what a fight with him could be like.

The Eternal Champion (Eternal Champions)



As the apocalypse drew near for mankind, an all-knowing and near all-powerful entity known as The Eternal Champion gave nine fighters another chance at life. They were saved moments before their death, but they weren't out of the clear. Only one of the nine saved could be given another chance at life. If they could best all other fighters, plus The Eternal Champion themselves, they were free to go back and bring change to their era.

The Eternal Champion is the main boss in the original Eternal Champions, and a sub-boss in its sequel. The franchise was SEGA's answer to Mortal Kombat, but didn't rely on digitized graphics like many of its contemporaries. While the series has only seen two mainline entries, two spin-offs, and a comic adaptation, it has a huge cult fanbase in America and Europe, where the series got the game's sequel. While not a good choice for a playable character, I believe his presentation would work perfectly as a boss for this game. The best part is, because he's from a fighting game himself, it's pretty easy to see how the fight will play out. Here's him in the sequel, which is basically the same as the first game but with more phases at the end:


I imagine it playing out very similar to how the fight in the game plays out here, with The Eternal Champion occasionally turning into the light form and fusing with the creatures on the wall for new powers, but instead of having five separate phases (which would just be overkill), I would shorten it to two.

First Phase: His starting appearance. This would mostly be strikes, kicks, tosses, jump attacks, and occasionally turning invisible.

Second Phase: After being hurt enough, he turns himself into a ball of light to fuse with the animals whose forms are on the wall. Instead of facing them one after another, I would have him switch to these at random. Each one gives him additional attacks he can use.
-Dragon: Allows him to shoot fireballs at his opponents
-Hawk: Gives him the power of flight, along with a quick and scary charge attack to avoid.
-Shark: Lets him hold onto and shoot water bubble projectiles whenever he wants, and travel under the stage with a fast and tall blue wave of energy (shark fin?)
-Tiger: Gives him super fast speed that he can turn on at any time, and do a spinning fire wheel-like move at the opponent.

I would also make his form switching a lot faster in this game, although still looking to emulate the feel of the original fight from the games.

Famous galactic bounty hunter known for her swordplay and incredible speed, Sara was hired to escort a famous prisoner to planet Auriga where he would stand trial. The man in question just so happened to be the vicious brute known as 'Butcher' who slew her parents on planet Kaytuël. After the ship that was carrying them to their destination crash lands due to being attacked by pirates, Sara is now forced to work with her families murderer to escape the Dungeon of the Endless alive.

Her fate appears to be sealed after she is forced to team up with both the Butcher, Max O' Kane and a certain incredibly narcissistic man, but she's determined to bring the criminals she's with to justice...if she escapes.

An enormous and powerful man with a short temper and an insatiable blood lust, Gork Koroser earned the nickname of Butcher due to his vicious streak that sees him slaughtering men, women, children and animals simply due to being in a bad mood. He was captured and detained, sentenced to imprisonment on planet Auriga. When the prison ship he was on was shot down, Gork escaped and is currently having the time of his life fighting through the Dungeon of the Endless. He is still being pursued by the bounty hunter that was placed as his escort. She seems to have a grudge against him for some reason...

Gork's fate seems to be sealed after he is forced to team up with both the bounty hunter, Max O' Kane and a certain incredibly narcissistic man, but he's determined to continue his killing spree with his new allies and promises to kill the bounty hunter himself...if he escapes.

Max O' Kane is an eternal optimist, and a thief who was caught alongside the rest of his gang when someone within the ranks squealed on them. Max is a chatty individual and pretty amicable outside of being obsessed with riches, but would never betray his buddies. Regardless of who it was from his gang, the prison ship was shot down and Max's main focus now is grabbing loot...I mean, surviving the Dungeon of the Endless and trying to not think about all the horrific monsters lurking in it's corridors.

Max's fate is seemingly sealed the moment he teams up with Gork "Butcher" Koroser, bounty hunter Sara Numas and a certain narcissistic man whom Max didn't see on the ship prior to it crashing down, but he is determined to make this trip worthwhile with plundered riches...if he escapes.

    • Imagine if he was like Akuma, as a secret unlockable character after defeating him and this remix plays during the whole fight.
    • Would be poetic, considering Sakura's recent inclusion in Infinite.

1. Segata Sanshiro (while I wouldn't mind him being playable, him being a boss seems like it would allow for him to be as over-the-top/ridiculous as possible)

2. Dark Falz (I don't know much about Phantasy Star, but he looks like he could easily be a Smash Bros. boss based on the design(s) alone)

3. Jubileus (the more Bayonetta content, the better, in my eyes)
