Normally I feel good when I lose to insanely good players (Meekspeedy kicking my butt today with MK) but lag abusers can go die in a hole.

1 win then 3 straight losses in a row. Here's hoping tomorrow serves me better~.

I hear that. I quit playing on the ladder because it was so full of lag abuse.

Meek's really good but I thought he used Sonic.

@ZaNe great work, TX is a rough region! :D
Edit, darn SWF changed what I wrote as Z/a/ne to that^ but I meant Zanethepure. :/

Playing good people is great :)

Ugh, insomnia sucks. I'm waiting for someone to finish moving before I move and my life's in disarray. I'll be glad when this is all over with; it's been a hard several years months.

SO HEY. Can anyone tell me what it's called when you sh>reverse quickdraw>fadeway? As in you roll from "y" to "b" and press (and hold a tiny bit) the analog stick the opposite way you're facing right after (feels almost same time) your thumb hits the "b". I was working on changing direction without rolling (iknowimanewbjushearmeoutplz) in training mode and came across this little gem.

I've seen the arial version of it (second jump instead of sh) in pro matches but I honestly wasn't certain if it came about accidentally as biproduct of trying to stay mobile and zone/space or if it was done on purpose.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure why it's called that but all info on ATs should be in here: http://smashboards.com/threads/secr...ng-thread-complete-at-list-and-combos.277706/

Reverse arrows are useful for facing the right way; I tap back>release and quickly tap B (this also works for other characters neutral B moves like Wolf's blaster). Link will also turn the direction he throws a boomerang and side bomb throws (not up/down/drops).
A good spacing tactic is run away, hop over the ledge, reverse arrow/boomerang/bomb throw towards the stage (this makes Link face toward the stage) , FF Zair the ledge, optional ledgestall Zair as timing needs here, ledge hop Fair or whatever.

So when you do this is Link moving back toward the stage or away from? I've been trying to get it to go both directions and have been trying out different applications. I've been having quite a bit of fun with it. I think I enjoy applying new tricks to my game than I do actually playing and winning.

Away from the stage. A little like what I did at 4:54 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=opaM42G1BvA#t=294 there I did more of a mind game faking to jump back on the platform then FF airdodge>tethering the ledge. Link has such great tools for improvisation.
The basic idea is to quickly fall and tether the ledge to escape pressure. An easy way to cover Link and turn back toward the stage is to throw a bomb/boomerang or reverse arrow toward the stage. Just don't do this when the opponent is close enough to edge hog and mix in platform bombing too rather than go for the ledge every time. You'll notice later at 5:09 he predicted the edge tether but I didn't FF and upB-ed instead to recover. A lot of it is dropping if the opponent jumps but not dropping if they go low.

Reverse arrows and all that turning stuff can be great to run and spam back and don't have to be used for ledgehogs of course.
:)

Well, I mean you are a little bit of a celebrity around here, right? People do seem to care when you make cookies and workout and get insomnia and stuff. I guess that just means you're actively helping to building a solid community here.

I got ya; I was just sayin'.

Yeah I've been a parody/satire fan all my life, starting with Weird Al. I've seen some Happy Hour and you're right, some of it is funny, some is lame. But that is kind of the nature of satire, it's hard to do right and it's easy to do wrong.

Hate to break it to you but if you were actually listening that is actually a Monster Hunter game, not a Zelda game. The reason you see Link there is probably a character skin of some sort.

Oh, you mean 1:23. That's Monster Hunter 4 with a special costume like Heero said. I hope the servers are better than MH3 Ultimate's :glare:

Does anybody want to Brawl later? I changed my Brawl main to Olimar (yes I do change mains a lot because it's harder for me to find my character in the game I don't put as much focus on) and could use some low-tier experience. :D

I'll play now if you want.
Edit, I need your FC again. I cleaned out the names from my list when it got full.

learning several characters is a good way to understand MUs and the game better. I wish more people would learn different characters.

Edit, well darn. Maybe some other time.

I'm tired.
I think the Subspace game might have come into play when balancing Brawl; the triforce characters are top-tier in Subspace. Or at least Link is. A silver lining of not having that in SSB4 is Link might be better balanced for competitive play.
Subspace is a fun way to practice ledgehop/stalls, DAC/bombslides, tip of attack spacing and throwing projectiles out fast while moving.

Man, what is this APEX trash that fills the home page I'm being forced to look at when acessing the site? I don't want to see that. Just give me the forums listing.

^I just have my watched threads bookmarked.

My stupid Pro Controller keeps missing inputs. This isn't so bad except in Monster Hunter when he runs there's a skidding animation to a stop because it keeps registering like I let up on the stick.
It'd be nice if something could work right for once :glare:

Rizen I can play you in an hour. Also my FC is under my name now.

@ Rizen Rizen : So your Pro Controller too, huh? I've been having the exact same problem with mine. It must be something about the controllers themselves :/

I'd just like to note that we have a lot of stickies in this forum that seem fairly irrelevant at this point, such as the Link MU Chart 2.0 or Nintenjoe's guide to Link, that I'd like to take down. You guys have any thoughts on these stickies? Do you think the two mentioned above still have any value and should stay stickied, or do you think they should be removed as well?

The matchup chart can probably sit down, we'd have to actually be discussing matchups seriously to have it as a sticky.
That and most of the info there is out of date by a year or two. Nintenjoe's guide is out of date too, and maybe Rizen's should replace it.

I'm pretty sure Rizen's is already stickied.

EDIT: Yeah, I just checked and it is. Confirmed.

I claim all the confirmations

@Ano you might as well unsticky the old threads but leave Foxy's AT thread; that has a lot of good info. If you agree, I would like the hitbubble thread to be stickied http://smashboards.com/threads/links-hitbubbles-includes-video-and-gallery.274560/
How do you guys deal with Captain Falcon? Played this cool dude's BA Falcon and lost 1-2 in close matches. Would like to know the Brawl perspective of this MU.
Don't commit to ending lag because CF is quick and hits hard. CF players like to fake landings but instead double jump then sweet spot Knee and that is very powerful. Be sure they don't have a 2nd jump before shield grabbing landings. Also be very careful when returning from the ledge because CF has strong attacks that send Link flying sideways for early KOs.

When recovering go low if he jumps up at Link and high then FF airdodge/bomb/Nair to land on the stage if he goes low. I describe it here http://smashboards.com/threads/le-l...augh-lounge-♪-。.254551/page-159#post-16194365
CF is fast and has good range so plan strats to keep him from intercepting Link to start early. Have plenty of space between Link and CF when throwing projectiles out; this means don't boomerang when CF can jump out and Uair through it. Beware CF's Uair hits around him and stops Link from diagonal angles. If Link is strait in front of CF Link's Fair walls CF away well.

The basic idea in this MU is to keep SHing around and wall off CF. CF doesn't have a good answer to well spaced jabs/Zair/Fair/Bair but Link needs to move to support spacing. Be careful because CF can move in fast. Link has better reach than CF and can abuse it. CF has great punishes so don't let him bait you into laggy moves and don't underestimate how quick he can rush in. If CF does get in (and he will) Link can escape fairly easily with good DI/SDI to a quick Bair/Nair/Utilt/Jab and start the process over. CF will take a lot of damage so be patient and chip away at him. Link can KO with Smashes but be sure to safely space them. Fair>land>Dsmash/jab or Zair>Fsmash/Dsmash or jab cancels are fairly safe ways to setup smash as well as the usual arrow/jab lock and footstool bomb>Dair for KOs. Grab>Uthrow will KO after 180% or so.

tl;dr be quick, wall off CF and don't get cocky.

Hello again Zane, and nice sig :D
Ah yes, many congrats to you sir and your promotion. And My sig is based on my desire to be the "Shawn Michaels" of Brawl.
Perhaps I'm not the bracket overlord, but I do my best to bring the best out of my opponent and give them mine. Good matches are just as good as wins to me.

And as a side note to Rizen's advice on the CF matchup, be very wary of the Captains great boxing game. When/If he get's through your spacing, watch his jab cancels and follow ups very intently. If you let him jab you to often and fail to read his follow up, it will be a difficult fight. Space him from mid range with Z-air and retreating SH F-airs at close range while remaining mindful of his speed. It's been my experience with CFs that he tends to lack decisive KO power without being highly unsafe, and relies on rushdowns with jabs/grabs/faked landings and that nasty surprise F-air off a fake land. Link has better DI and MC so as long as you recover right (depending on the situation) you should hold your stocks longer than him.
