btw, I originally wasn't going to preregister at all. If there's a separate pool solely composed of people who didn't preregister, that basically means it's all random locals or people catching rides at the last minute. Anyone that you truely have to look for, would be actively making plans to attend and announce it as such. I was considering staying in the unregistered pool but figured it wasn't worth having an easy pool if it still only gives bottom seed anyway. No point automatically getting Lee first round in brackets.

Just figured I'd throw that out there in case anyone else was having a similar train of thought. Might as well preregister and have an accurate count of people. Most people probably don't think about that sort of thing anyway though...

I made it out of my pool last time I went to a LA tourney that had Lee in it , but only the worst placing player got booted, hah.

Ahh, gotcha. Don't worry, you won't be in a pool with kismet or your brother. I'm gonna keep you away from Alabama as well as I can, too.

One important thing for EVERYONE to know is that I will seed the bracket SOLELY on pool data. This means it's possible for two people who drove together might play each other first round of brackets. If I move things around in order to accommodate this, people who already played each other in pools that day will play early in the bracket, and I think that's even worse.

i don't think that's worse. i wouldn't want to fight cyphus if i drove 5+ hours for a tournament. i think it should be seeded on pool data, but i mean i dont think dmg and kosmos should have to fight each other first round either.

And LIGHT this tournament was MK-free until you pre registered!! lol. jk

Yeah, for some reason my MK got really patient at the last PCola tournament, so I started apply that to ROB (and my alts).

I feel like I got a lot better from it, and I still have a lot of fun, so. All is good.

Anyone really good probably won't play each other first round in brackets just because they seed so high. If both DMG and KOS-MOS play first round, then it's probably because one of them barely made it out of pools. I'll do what I can to keep it reasonable, since I do have some control, even when sticking to pool data. Still, I'm not guaranteeing anything, because the pool results should definitely be the primary factor.

Also, looking at the number of entrants, I think it's safe to say that at least the bottom half probably won't make it out this time. I'm playing with the idea of top 6 making it out. With 8 pools, that's 48 people getting out, so anyone who truly deserves to make it should. I think we could run a 52-person bracket in about 3-4 hours if we have at least 20 setups.

Assuming everyone on the list (that's a big assumption and it probably won't happen) shows up and we get no more preregs, we'll probably break 100 at the tourney itself from walk-ins and last-minute people.

We're not quite to 20, and I'm expecting some people to forget something or not show up, so we won't have everything listed. There's room in Laser Tag for a lot of setups, and we really can use them. TVs are our biggest need right now, since we have 20+ Wiis.

Right now, with 91, time will be tight. It will be an immense help for everyone to show up at the venue for 11:00. We should have registration/ check in ready to go, and hopefully we can get it all done in time to start teams at 12:30. If I have to make any changes to the schedule, then I'll post here and let everyone know.


That said, I'm really excited. May 30 can't get here soon enough.
