i'm guessing we're talking specifically about sampling here (which makes the above statement true)However, stay away from Bose or Skullcandy. Both are terrible options.
I didn't say everyone who was here is a hipster, I said you move here if you are one. I have never had as much visual experience living in Dallas...i resent that fact.... i was raised there yet i was never a hipster.
fellow grado buddies! livvers too. we have the same ones. great open-back headphonesThey're super expensive, but their quality is at the 60-70 buck range. If you're on a budget, try a pair of Grado Sr60i's, they're pretty great.
Audio-technica also has some fantastic options. Sony and other brands are good, but it's really a matter of personal taste.
However, stay away from Bose or Skullcandy. Both are terrible options.
I love Grados! They're tied with Audio-technica for my favorite.fellow grado buddies! livvers too. we have the same ones. great open-back headphones
This seems pretty nice. Actually, they all seem pretty nice. There might just be too many headphones I wanna buy right now.Reviewer said:Without burn-in, I would say these compare really well (at par) with Grado SR80. Although I think the sound stage presented by SR80 is wider may be due to the open design. M50 with the closed back design seems a tad closed in. But, nevertheless, the sound right out of the box is really good.

Initial comparison with Grado back to back, I noticed the following:
1. At same volume level, M50 plays louder than SR80
2. Sound isolation of M50 is pretty good, plan to use it on airplane
3. The sound stage of SR80 is wider
4. M50 has better bass than SR80
5. Highs and mids are very close with slight preference for M50
6. Fit and comfort of M50 is better but I hope it will loosen up a bit after use
7. Build quality is much better for M50 - obviously SR80 foam cushion is deteriorating after a few years of use

I compared to my office-mate who owns a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. Right off the bet, we both noticed how much more open the ATH-M50 sounded. This is before the burn-in.
I am even more impressed after the burn-in. The close-in that I commented before comparing to my Grado SR80 is now gone. The bass also improves quite a bit.
Off course, my home system with Velodyne DD15 packed a better punch but this is not a fair comparison.
Comfort:
Stretching for 100 hours also loosened up the fit so it is very comfortable. My only gripe is the top of the headband still has a pressure point. I might just bend to provide a better fit.
You'll hear about a burn-in period from reviewers for most, if not all good headphones. I've seen people range it up to about 200 hours of listening at 25-50% higher volume (or not listening and just letting it play). I'm honestly not sure how great of an effect it has, but when browsing for headphones back in December, it came up in pretty much every review for each pair I was looking at.Though I heard rumors stating that it needs to be Burned-In for a long period of time in order to improve the sound and quality.
Around 260 dollars. Just got my job not too long ago.Yeah Vinyl, burn in is good for almost all headphones. It almost never hurts a good pair.
What's your budget, anyway?
What are those eggrolly lookin things? DO WANT! ArghhJust came back from an event where I got to try home made desserts from 5 different countries.
In a bit of a sugar coma. Just sayin.
The ones with the red maraschino cherries on the end? Those would be Italian cannoli i believe. c:What are those eggrolly lookin things? DO WANT! Arghh
If you actually want a place great for headphone recommendations head-fi.org is a great headphone forum. If you make a thread with your budget and what you're looking for in a headphone I'm sure they can send you in the right direction.Around 260 dollars. Just got my job not too long ago.
Yah, next to the cannoli, the little squares c: They were delish too, there were a few other Turkish sweets which were insane as well. Although I think my favourite sweets that night all came from Mauritius, apart from the lemon tiramisu from Italy of course.any baklava?
